On his 100th day in office, President Obama will be “crowned” in messianic imagery at New York City’s Union Square.
Artist Michael D’Antuono’s painting “The Truth” – featuring Obama with his arms outstretched and wearing a crown of thorns upon his head – will be unveiled on April 29 at the Square’s South Plaza.
According to a statement released about the portrait, “The 30″ x 54″ acrylic painting on canvas depicts President Obama appearing much like Jesus Christ on the Cross: atop his head, a crown of thorns; behind him, the dark veil being lifted (or lowered) on the Presidential Seal. But is he revealing or concealing, and is he being crucified or glorified?”
Even the title of the piece, “The Truth,” suggests a play on biblical themes, as Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
As far as I can tell this isn’t a hoax. (But it should be)

You know for a middle of the roader, this guy is getting a lot of attention. Maybe it’s the “beauty” phenomenon. “A new study published last month in the journal Psychological Science, offered a new explanation why average faces (mathematically average, not average-looking) are judged more attractive.”

I’m skeptical about studies like this, especially ones that don’t take gender differences into account. Most of the men’s faces that women seem to like to judge from celebrities always have one honking exaggerated feature. (Women’s faces all look interchangeable to me in Hollywood, though. If you can tell Cameron Diaz apart from Gwyneth Paltrow in dim lighting, or Kiera Knightley from Natalie Portman, I’ll hand you a dollar.)
But the men’s faces women like always seem to have overly wide eyes, a really long nose, strange lips, or a skinny chin, or something. I’ve seen as many “studies” that show people faces that have had certain features like eye or mouth size and shape computer exaggerated, and people rate THEM more attractive …

I think this is great! Look at Obama’s face, looks like he’s smirking … like he knows his Christ-likeness is a big joke.
I’m inclined to think this is satire because of that smirk. But either way, this will produce a huge outcry from bible-thumpers, and then Obama will be forced to come out and decry it (as a real Christian would). If he doesn’t the Fox media types will really hammer home the Christlike imagery Obama is consistently portrayed as. Perhaps this is a way to bring that issue more into the light.
