This is the Obama voter gene pool …

One of the best laughs I got all year was watching a Howard Stern video on youtube that got a ton of voters to agree with basically everything John McCain had said and done–including the choice of Sarah Palin for VP–simply by ascribing it to Barack Obama.  The video I posted below is along that vein but isn’t meant for humor.  It shows the level of knowledge present in many Obama voters.  Be afraid, be very afraid.

Several times during the last few weeks, I had a very dear friend of mine send me this list of what they considered ‘notable’ things so that I would just suddenly realize that none of the problems that I had with obama were based on anything but my refusal to admit I’m a closet bigot.  The first time I read it, I thought it was a joke, much the way that I thought the Howard Stern thing was a joke.  When I got it the second time with the question that I really hadn’t pondered Sarah Palin’s qualifications for vp in all my blogging threads, I realized it wasn’t a joke.  I had a difficult time coming up with a response because, again, my first reaction was you’ve got to be kidding me.

So, tell me I’m not the only one that thinks that having your family up on stage with you, including your pregnant unwed daughter is no big deal.  Why is it considered ‘parading’–an obviously prejorative word?  All candidates appear on stage with their family.  What difference would it make if it were Obama instead of Palin?  The list just gets nuttier and nuttier.  Who cares if you make a living being a beer distributer?  Running illegal booze during prohibition certainly didn’t hurt the Kennedy family.  People get addictions to all kinds of things all the time … that knows no racial boundaries?  Many past first ladies had problems with alcohol and drugs.  Why would it make any difference to me if it were Cindy or Michelle?  Goodness no!

I really laughed hard at the Keating Five thing since I will still point out to the THREE advisors (including Pritzker) on the Obama board that were major players in this current financial crisis.  If the Keating five thing disqualified McKain, then the current problems of FNMA, Freddie Mac, and the investment banks should’ve disqualified Obama.  Let’s not even go into the Rezko thing and his two ‘religious advisors’: Wright and Pflager.

The Obama supporters I know felt Palin to be completely unqualified to be VP but never addressed my issue of why they think Obama was qualified to be president?  I always hear the Harvard thing, but he was a legacy, just like Dubya.  Since we never have seen any of his transcripts or scores, it’s difficult to say he did anything more than graduate.  Even George Bush managed to graduate from Harvard.  It has a longstanding reputation as the hardest school to flunk out of  and you know that if you’ve ever been privvy to university jokes.

So I finally sent my response back to my long time friend saying I found this list of things to ponder pretty ridiculous.  I also felt that it came from some one suffering from severe holier-than-thou syndrome which I found typical of the delusionally religious.  I was not interested in folks divorces, addictions, and bad boy behavior in college.  Finally, the charismatic, eloquent speaker thing only happens when there’s a teleprompter around, in case you hadn’t noticed.

But then it occured to me, how could any of these folks actually notice any of this?  I’d bet none of them read papers and magazines other than maybe USA Today and People.  They probably get what little news the read from the AP wire in their local newspapers and the same feed to their local news stations.  So, when they get all haughty about Palin, ask them what they read?  Ask them if they know who controls congress, who is the speaker of the house and the senate majority leader?  Ask them what they think of the Bush Doctrine?  My guess is that unless they’re out here in blog land with a few of us, you’d better switch to asking football questions if you really want answers.

Ponder the following:

What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, including a three month old infant and an unwed,  pregnant teenage daughter?

What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review?

What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?

What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee?

What if Obama was the candidate who left his first wife after a severe disfiguring car accident,  when she no longer  measured up to his  standards?

What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married?

What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to  pain killers but also acquired  them illegally  through her charitable organization?

What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?

What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five? (The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major
political scandal
 as part of the larger   Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s.)

What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?

What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline problems and a record of crashing seven planes?

What if Obama was the one who was known to display publicly, on many occasions, a serious anger management problem?

What if Michelle Obama’s family had made their money from beer distribution?

What if the Obamas had adopted a white child?

You could easily add to this list.  If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?

This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a  color difference.

  1. That video was amazing. People were so into NOT hearing about Obama and hearing EVERYTHING about McCain and Palin.

    Sad.

  2. On a side note:

    Oh boy. . .

    Obama’s got a secret hottie!

    http://www.tinyurl.com/5c8s3j

  3. I got that list from one of my cousins. And I didn’t know how to respond. I still don’t get it.

    I actually thought my cousin wrote it herself — How did something this stupid go viral?

  4. Most of them just would not hear anything about Obama. They haven’t heard of Bill Ayers before? right.

    I find it very weird.

  5. katiebird: i have no idea … and i would like to meet the idiot that thought of that list … it says a lot more about them than either of the candidates. I was amazed when my friend sent it to me, i really did think it was a joke at first

  6. I don’t even know where to start with that @#$#.

    Reposting from downstairs.

    I would love to see Hillary in the national spotlight. However, if so, we had better put our waders on, because if we thought the primaries were tough, SoS will be just as bad.

    Bro’s before SoS?
    Bin Laden should take her behind a barn and only one come out
    Iron my burkka

    I don’t know if I can take it.

    This may help.

  7. the things that folks picked up on about McCain and Palin were really trivial to me and they missed these HUGE holes in Obama

    i still have trouble dealing with it intellectually, it makes me think most folks are complete idiots and I don’t want to go thru life with that stuck in my head

  8. The video shows me how much power the media has. It’s terrible.

  9. I got this before the election. My first response was, “the election isn’t close” so this is a fallacy from the get-go.

    So I pointed out to the sender that the election wasn’t close, that it was far less close than Bush v. Gore, etc. So does that mean our country is racist against whites?

    I then pointed out that had McCain been the media choice instead of Obama, none of what she was talking about would even be known. So what ISN’T known about Obama?

    Of course, it all fell on deaf ears. She said the reason it was so outrageous for her is because racism just hasn’t made any progress since LBJ.

    And I said, but what of the sexism? AA’s are far ahead of women in progress, and I pointed out some examples. However, she is a 50’s housewife type, so doesn’t see sexism as a problem at all…(oh the irony)

  10. The video didn’t shock me at all. Try asking today’s voter the difference between a republican and a democrat or who is next in line after the VP. They don’t know. If they don’t know the answer to these simple questions, then you know why we had 8 years of Bush and how BO got elected.

  11. TRK – What happened to your avatar? It’s a man, baby!

    Sadly, most Obama voters (not the Obamatons in the blogosphere) are uninformed because of the media. They are no stupider than we are, and they love their country no less. That’s what really sucks. We can’t hate them, because they are just doing the best they can. They don’t have time to cruise the PUMA blogs. They trust the media to tell them the truth about the candidates so they can make a good decision.

    The media: EPIC FAIL.

  12. I guess what really irritates me is how everyone calls McCain supporters red neck idiots and highly uneducated; same with the Hillary voter … what do you call these folks?

  13. I saw so much of the media mis and dis-information it had a bad influence on my blood pressure.
    When intelligent friends of mine were telling me Sarah shoots wolves from a helicopter for sport
    … I about gave up .
    I think the most of the media are traitors to this country and I mean that. TRAITORS
    but people are to blame as well; if they grab one piece of information and run with it , but the media panders to that , and makes no effort to tell the truth impartially . They will pay for it , no matter how much they increase olbermans salary , they will pay .

  14. well, the meme out there is that all obama voters are these hip educated folks, and that all the McCain voters were these troglodyte red necks from the south …

    yeah, right … sell that meme MSM … like I believe everything wolf says now

  15. They definitely need some chlorine in that gene pool

  16. My son sent me some pics this morning and I almost teared up missing him, so I have made him my avatar and he is my screensaver. Gotta admit, he is a handsome devil.

  17. Part of what Obots so love about Barry IS the non thinking. That’s their pony. They get mad when you try to take it away with a call to rub two brain cells together.

  18. Some folks are JUST discovering the concept of white privilege and want to show it off, like their new favorite toy, to demonstrate how unracist they are. How sad.

    The corporate media types, just like the the folks we’re lamenting, were glazed over by great speaking ability, the promise of a little hope after 8 years of Bushco, confident body language, and ruthless strategy that left Obama’s hands seemingly clean. Suddenly, compared to those, McCain’s anger, stiffness, age, memory lapses and historical proximity to Bush just couldn’t compete. That was the meta, and it very strong.

    Madamab, thanks for gracious words. IMHO, we make a big mistake if we don’t recognize your point and develop future stategies around it.

  19. Well, the “hip, educated voters” are crying in their beer this morning. I did something I haven’t done in almost a year–checked the diaries at DK and FDL to see the reaction to Harry Reid saying Lieberman could keep his Homeland Security chairmanship, and that Joe L. was really a “good Democrat.” Of course, we PUMAs knew what the Democrats were worth on May 31, 2008. It’s just taken the “progressives” a little longer to figure out that if you blindly support dishonest people, sooner or later you’re going to see how much “hope and change” they’re going to offer you. Some of us refused to be suckered in by the press, the DNC or the Obots–we’re called PUMAs.

  20. When intelligent friends of mine were telling me Sarah shoots wolves from a helicopter for sport.”

    I’ve hunted from moving vehicles before, and it’s a difficult sport. You try aiming a gun while holding a beer in your other hand and steering with your knees.

  21. He is gorgeous, Kim! He resembles his beautiful mama!

    Paper doll – you are absolutely right. He is an AA and a Dem. That’s all they need to know.

    Leave Obama ALLLLOOOOOONNNNNEEEE!

  22. Well, the media is not doing its job anymore and it’s turning into these too big to fail critters who care more about corporate dividends than news … if it doesn’t come from reuters or the ap, no one has actual reporters any more to do stories and follow leads

    a lot of the tv hacks have never been reporters now …

    and the cost cutting that’s coming to deliver profits is in cutting basic reporting and desks in places that editors deem unimportant …

    rosebud

  23. I have horrible retention for facts. Ideas I’m much better with, but those pesky facts always leave my brain seconds after entering. A Jeopardy contestant I’ll never be. (But I’m always quick to defend myself by mentioning what Einstein said about factoids, and I paraphrase: Why clutter my mind with something I can easily look it up?)

    That said, I was astonished that there are so many people out there who know less than I do. Should we start requiring tests before allowing people to vote? We have to take a test for a driver’s license so why not!

  24. During my citizenship interview I had to answer 25 random questions out of the following 100:

    http://aenet.esuhsd.org/citizenship_lessons/Citizen/prep100.html

    But, no doubt in my mind, the average U.S. citizen would fail this test.

  25. grayslady – Did you know they are now blaming HRC for Lieberman?

    IACF!

    —————————————————–

    Email from Jane Hamsher at FDL – subject: Lieberman is Clinton’s Call

    It’s coming down to the line. The decision on whether or not Joe Lieberman will retain his committee chairmanship will be made this week by the 19 members of the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee – one of whom is Senator Hillary Clinton.

    (OOOOOOOH! Scary HRC Alert!)

    This is our chance to take the gavel out of the hands of a man who hasn’t used his power of subpoena once to investigate Bush and his cronies’ abuses of power, actively campaigned for McCain, and – if left has Homeland Security Committee Chair – would have subpoena power over Barack Obama.

    Please call right now and ask that he be removed from this dangerous position before the next congress.

    Hillary Clinton – (D – NY)
    (202) 224-4451

    ——————————————————————-

    This is just crazy, considering that Obama is the one who doesn’t want Lieberman kicked out of the caucus.

  26. How many States are there in the Union, Barry!!!!

  27. Britgirls – And where are the Great Lakes? In Oregon, perhaps?

  28. madamab–That’s why we’re PUMAs and they’re still faux-progressives. Since the vote was 42-13 in favor of Lieberman, Hillary can hardly be said to be responsible for anything that happens to Lieberman. From what I’ve read, it appears Holy Joe’s biggest champion was Chris Dodd. Obviously, that piece of information doesn’t fit in with their narrative, so I don’t think we’ll be seeing too much about it.

  29. Obama is the brilliant underachiever who has been given everything he has ever wanted and more. Yes, it was so difficult to be Obama. Being raised in the ghettos of Hawaii, attending substandard private schools in Indonesia and not to mention that terrible substandard private high school in Hawaii. How was he ever able to become a Harvard Grad coming from a background like that. (LOL!) He will eventually have to work and that is problem. Just look at Bush II another brilliant underachiever. To me Obama is the Eddie Haskell of U.S. Presidents.

    well, if you would wait until you left the city , the degree of difficulty might decrease ;) oh and put the cell phone down too

  31. We need to make our own list: What if a candidate referred to 57 states but his supporters ASSUMED that another candidate, the only FEMALE running on a major ticket, had made this mistake?

    Seems to me that it’s not racism that is the problem. It’s sexism.

  32. Let’s start the alternative list:

    - What if McCain was tired after just half of the primaries; so tired that he likened it to the Bataan Death March?
    - What if Hillary was BFFs with Ayers or Rezco?
    - What if Hillary had said Barack was “qualified enough?” Would that have been considered a code word?
    - What if McCain smoked?
    - What if Sarah Palin claimed there were 57 states or that she saw dead people at the rally?
    - What if Hillary had promised Canadians that her NAFTA language shouldn’t be taken literally since it was said in the heat of the campaign.

  33. FLVoter: so right … and you made me flinch with the Eddie Haskell thing … very good metaphor

  34. FLVoter, on November 18th, 2008 at 1:22 pm

    lol! one of the biggest problems for Barry’s handlers is to get him to at least appear interested .

  35. I understand he lived in Indonesia during his early years so didn’t memorize the states in school. But he lived in Hawaii. He must’ve known it was the 50th State. Didn’t he at least watch Hawaii 5-0?

    C’mon!!!

    Dah, da, da, da daaaa, da …. (theme tune)

  36. myiq, now you actually did make me spew coffee all over my screen.

  37. Who’s buried in Grant’s tomb?

  38. Eddie Haskell, I am laughing my ass off.

  39. this is racism according to WHO? this list was written by a white person and is an utterly clueless representation of what minorities experience.

  40. gxm17 – Ultimately, it’s corporatism. The media decided Obama would be best for their bottom lines, so they promoted him nonstop and covered up all his massive problems as a candidate.

    The misogyny was a tactic they used to prevent Hillary, then Palin, from winning. Unfortunately, it was all too successful.

  42. CNN still out to get that Palin ‘50′ foot woman
    http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/politics/2008/11/17/moos.doodles.cnn

  43. My posts aren’t showing up?

  44. State … you get to be a U.S. citizen! I’m impressed you knew the 13 original states. I’ve asked a lot of people that one, and so far no one’s got it right first time.

  45. How in the fuck do they get off using the fact that McCain adopted interracially as a criticism of him???

  46. State … are you gearing up for Tinfoil Tuesday tonight at 5 p.m.?

    Me so excited!

  47. I’ve seen that letter too & it is the biggest bunch of bs — they take every “good” quality of B0’s & every “bad” one of McCain/Palin’s & pretend that is a fair contrast. How about this one: What if McCain had never held a full time job? What if it was McCain If it was McCain who hadn’t authored a single piece of significant legislation? What if McCain’s wife had said half the cr@p that came out of MO’s mouth?
    The fact is that if any one of the scenarios in that “letter” had been applicable to B0 instead of McCain, the msm would have covered it up for him, just like they covered up everything else — his refusal to release his records (school & medical), his associations (Khalidi tape, anyone?) and his lack of job experience. Yep, that is what r@cism does — it guilts people into not questioning the man running for President of the USA because doing so may make them look “r@cist.”

  48. justus949, thank you for saying it. I had put it in a previous comment but deleted it.

    That “racism” list is indeed a glaring example of racism… of the sender. The obots are clueless. I’ve been saying for months that Obama’s large appeal isn’t that he’s black, it’s that he’s half white. And the folks that put that list together just proved my point.

  49. I really don’t get that list of questions. But I agree we should make a list to counter it.

    Alice Palmer was the first (of many) reasons that I rejected Obama. That poor lady must be feeling that Karma is a member of the He Man Women Haters Club.

  50. My husband works in a public library in an AA area. At lighting speed, the city is closing his branch and 10 other ones, also in poor areas. The very places that need these branches desperately . Many of the patrons have come up to him with the idea of contacting Barry to help. He must stiffel the impulse to both laugh and cry .

  51. : every person I have ever known in my entire life that proclaims loudly they are NOT about drama is a guess what ….

    MONUMENTAL DRAMA QUEEN

  52. Hello all….

    I am very depressed and near dispar over the Hill as SOS I am sorry I is driving me crazy. As I have said if she takes the job I am afraid I will have to leave the PUMA movement.

    I cannot watch as obama uses her again and again and then fires her.

    I am beyond all hope.

  53. swanspirit, on November 18th, 2008 at 1:39 pm

    lol!! So true!
    What they mean is they don’t like any competition! lol!

  54. fuzzzyyy , dont give up darlin it has not happened yet …….

    and btw Eddie Haskell is the perfect analogy for bo …
    lets get that meme out there LOL

  55. ah, fuzzy …. I’m sending a virtual hug and a big old cosmo your way

  56. Fuzzy – sorry you are so upset about something that has not happened.

    If you want to leave, it’s your choice of course. I hope you won’t.

    But don’t you dare turn this thread into an HRC bashapalooza the way you did last night. Don’t you DARE.

  57. Anytime I hear the mythology of Obama’s background, raised by a poor single mother — I keep remembering that Steve Martin movie “The Jerk.” You know the part where Steve Martin states that he was “raised a poor black child.”

  58. I have no respect for any single person who works with this man in the whitehouse. Unfortunately that will include Hillary Clinton.

    I have said from the beginning I hope he is a miserable failure and that goes for his entire administration.

  59. I have a question…

    where was SNL or any of the so called comedians for the satire on this??

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9Z2Cnr6PSs

    MIA ??

  60. FLVoter! I’ve thought the same thing! “Aaaaahs, born a po’ black child.”

  61. {{{fuzzy}}} It is no use worrying though until we know we have something to worry about.

  62. madamab I am bashing Obama and unfortunately some one I respected has signed on with him. I am sorry I am not bashing her at all.

    I think obama is trying to buy us all off is all I am saying.

    I am sorry we disagree.

  63. britgirls

    Thanks for the line correction. I saw that movie a long time ago, I should see it again. It has been on my mind alot because of that line.

  64. Fuzzy – Let’s see what she decides….this may be much ado about nothing.

  65. Gina Johnson = tr0ll

  66. Seems Gina is part of that gene pool

  67. ok angie….I will not yet….am I still allowed to voice my opinion about how Obama is an idiot? or does he now have the seal of approval?

    I think his overtures to HRC are the height of his arrogance that he can buy people off by throwing them a real spoiled knawed on bone. Cynical is the word I would use…I doubt that obama has had an epiphany on our HRC.

  68. just whipped out my can of Tr0ll b gone!

  69. Fuzzy, go read achlangel for some good thoughts on why Hillary taking SOS would be a good thing. I’m not saying she convinced me, but there is a lot of food for thought there. I have decided that HRC knows best what is best for her, and that’s what I will support, whatever her decision.

  70. This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

    It certainly does! All of Obama’s many negative qualities, lack of experience, and corruption were rationalized and minimized. Tell that to your friend.

  71. Fuzzy – I’m sorry we disagree too!

    But seriously, every single person who is a Democrat will be working with Obama in 2009. That includes HRC. Whether she is in the Senate or in the Cabinet, she is part of his Administration. There is nothing we can do about that.

    I would prefer her to be in the Senate myself, so I don’t think we disagree there.

    :-)

    But if he offers, she will have to take it. Or do you think it would be wise for her to alienate the head of her Party? How much should we ask of her? Should she sacrifice her career for us? Would that do us any good?

    I don’t know if he will ask her, though. The meme in the corporate media seems to be that Bill won’t pass the vetting process. Hilarious – the guy who is good friends with Wright, Pfleger and Ayers thinks Bill doesn’t pass the smell test.

    We are in LaLaLand.

  72. Fuzzy,

    I don’t understand why you’d have to leave the puma movement if Hillary is SOS? We don’t have say in what she does. Why blame pumas?

    I hope Obama will be able to do some good things or we are all up the crick. I don’t like him, but I don’t want the whole country to pay a huge price.

  73. fuzzy you can bash away , not only do I not mind …
    I will vicariously get off on it ;)

  74. madamab,

    Lynette Long says the Obama has already offered the job to Hillary, and she is just negotiating to make sure she’ll have some autonomy. She said she has heard that from staff people in DC.

  75. Fuzzy – you think you are bashing Obama, but you are not. You are bashing HRC for working with him.

    He is the head of the Democratic Party. She is a Democrat. What would you have her do?

  76. BB – I’ll believe it when I hear it from Hillary. Sorry to be so cynical but I remember all the brouhaha about the VP position.

    :-)

  77. Democrats are in Power …!! … duh. Everyone of them will be and as we speack – are now working for him .. .AND … they are all working for one other thing simultaneously … our Country ..

  78. OMG. I just about had a heart attack. And then I realized no one here knows my name is Gina. :D

  79. I hope that if Hillary takes the SoS position, we can all have her back. She’ll be working in a pit of vipers every time she attends a mtg in the WH, and she’ll need all the support she can get.

  80. I have been trying to find something positive in the Hillary as SOS, but frankly, I don’t see it. If the Obama Presidency is a failure, she will be dragged down with it. If it is a success she will never get even partial credit for it. If it is a failure a Dem will not be elected president again for many, many years. If it is a success, she will be considered too old to run again in 2016. The DNC will push another male “fresh face” like they did this time. IMO It is a lose lose situation for her.

    If she chooses to accept it, I will try to be positive and hope that President Obama will not clip her wings too severely. Although all evidence is to the contrary on my hope.

  81. fuzzy, I’m upset too. But let’s not dwell on something that hasn’t happened yet. You’ll have friends here to commiserate with if BO actually offers and Hillary actually accepts. We’re going to need all the shoulders to cry on that we can muster!

  82. Sod .. forget about it .. :) … comments are all ready down here … Let’s fight .. LoL ….

  83. FLVoter – if BB is right, Hillary is taking steps to prevent the wing-clipping as we speak. I think she is too smart to allow him to have total control over her.

  84. let’s face it, sorry to offend anyone, but it does seem to me, the only thing the dems ever talk about is how to pay for this and that with our tax dollars and some repubs seemed to have bought into that sollution for everything, i dont agree with any of them, im sick of mispent money and greed and power, totally sick of it all.

  85. the Guardian reported she’s accepted

  86. dakinikat,

    Thanks for the update. Great sadness in my heart, but I will put on my best Pollyana smile! Hope springs enternal.

  87. I don’t like the SOS thing either. But whatever happens I’ll never diss Hillary. I’ll just hope that she doesn’t get treated like dirt by the Misogynist in Chief.

  88. SOD:

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    what if Obama’s father were still alive and paraded all his wives and children across the stage
  90. Only the Guardian though — none of the US pravda are reporting it.
  91. I watched the vid and injured my jaw because it dropped so far it hit the desk!
    I liked the AA woman who, when told it was Obama who got the 3 candidates of his own party removed from the contest said “I don’t care, I wouldn’t change my vote.” [paraphrased]
    Yeah, tell me race didn’t play a part in this!!
  92. I missed the part where Hillary herself came out and said she has accepted SOS…
    The Media – EPIC FAIL(URE) – a continuum from1999 pre-Bush from the MSM. mags etc. This is an obvious given – WHY have we not banded together with pitch forks and burnt them to the ground? HelenK says boycott them – I have been turning off the TV and canceling subscriptions for years. I also let them know why I did it. This is one of the MAIN objectives – hold the media accountable. And do it now. There should be a huge bloc of voters that participate in this.
    I want someone to do just that – do a blog – get people organized and keep hammering at them – boycott them and their advertisers. Bring up each and every lie or unsubstantiated statement for everyone of the so called “journalists” and their brand. All the political – principled blogs should list this new media expose’ blog and really keep hammering them. Until the media is accountable – we will always have media selected pols.
    I stopped posting since the “election” – guess I am numb. Scared”? You betta. We have a cipher with no accomplishments to his name as POTUS and he owes everyone. I can’t seem to shake off my stupor – overwhelming dread. I have continued to read the great posts here – just feel so helpless.
  94. You know, I think we should have a Tin Foil hat club. We can model it after that Red Hat club. They even wear purple dresses which is a suffragette color!
  95. What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    What if McCain had done coccaine and other drugs while in college?

  96. I’ll believe it when I see Hillary say it herself.

  97. I am really good at forming things out of tin foil ..
    I have made pipes and ……..

    um never mind

    I look good in purple ;)

  98. Well, look at the bright side if Hillary becomes SOS–heads will explode from his supporters. Kerry and Richardson will be rolled under the bus and we’ll actually have someone competent answering the 3 a.m. phone call.

  99. From a prior thread
    The only weapon we have is boycotting the places that advertise on the msm.
    money talks bs walks

    WOMEN,MEN WHO SUPPORT THEM AND COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY ALWAYS

    PUMAS,BUBBAS, AND THOSE PEOPLE RULE

  100. Yeah, it will be fun to see Kerry & Richardson sulking. :)

  101. What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to pain killers but also acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    What if Cindy McCain had written a totally racist
    thesis in college about say, affirmative action on campus.
  102. swanspirit: best laugh of the day for me ;)
  103. OK —- I will bet $100.00 that everyone here at RiverDaughter knew all the answers in that video !!!!
  104. Ga6th,
    To me that is the only bright side. So that SNL skit will be correct. (The one with Obama calling Hillary at 3AM, she answers the phone in — I think in curlers etc…)
    Will KO do a Special Comment on this and has Tweety’s leg stopped tingling?
  105. What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    then he too would have studied Malcom X and attended Rev Wrights church for 20 years

  106. Fuzzy, I am beginning to think that this whole idea is a tease. Already the media is reporting about the problems with Bill Clinton’s foundation and his connections to the Saudi royal family. Does it make sense in a sick kind of way that Obama would say that she is his first choice, then turn around knowing that she would face massive criticism and allow her to withdraw her name?
    The thing is that by now the dems know that 16% of the party crossed to the republican side on the 4th. This may be his attempt to trick us into thinking he gives a d**n about any of our issues. Do not give up. All of us had very real issues that kept our support from Obama and the party. Giving up now somehow belittles our issues and brings them down to what they have claimed about us. They still do not get the idea that we believe that every vote should matter, well every valid vote. They say it is about racism and that sexism was never an issue because it did not happen. We must continue to fight for true democracy.

  107. It’s just taken the “progressives” a little longer to figure out that if you blindly support dishonest people, sooner or later you’re going to see how much “hope and change” they’re going to offer you. Some of us refused to be suckered in by the press, the DNC or the Obots–we’re called PUMAs.

    You know, I just might embroider this into a sampler.

  108. Just watched that video – so, if we are the “low information voters” what are those?

  109. Whoops! That was

    {{APPLAUSE}} within the brackets…

  110. What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    well, we all know grades can be fixed and hey afterall
    his harvard education was paid for and recommended by a biionaire from middle east
    who lives in texas
  111. SOD — Siamese — her name is Fish (Fishy, slinker-bink, slink, Fish-Fish) she’s 13 years old – born on St. Patrick’s Day and is my heart. Love that cat !! Thanks for asking.
  114. I think they are called either true believers or media consumers.
  115. my guess is that Obama will want to make the announcement and will want to name others at the same time so no one hogs his spotlight
  121. simofish, I have a Himmie (a Siamese Persian) and the best thing about Siamese cats is that they’re so talkative… and very opinionated. It may drive some people (non-cat lovers) crazy but I love it. They’ve got such wonderful personalities.
    What’s really funny is that my little prince (the 3-month old in my avatar) can sound just like the Himmie and sometimes it sounds like they’re actually holding a conversation. It’s too darn cute.
  122. That video makes you wish we had a monarchy. Too many “no information voters” (love that term gxm17)out there who really do not want to be informed at all. Just want Obama cuz he’s black and his name sounds “cool.”
  123. *sprays Tr0II-B-Gone*
  127. If a tr0ll screams in moderation, does it make a sound?
  128. david — please define: 1. credibility 2. intellectual and 3. sincerity.
    ’cause if you voted for B0 those words don’t mean what you think they mean.
    oh, yeah, just because you don’t like the TRUTH doesn’t make it a Republican talking point.
  129. gxm17 — Oh, mine does talk. The other thing about Siamese — they can be a one person cat. Introduce them into a household of 5 people and they will pick one to love and love forever. In this case my girlfriend had bought her yet, Fishy decided she wanted me. Smart cat. We have a great time together. She is so much fun – she has a morning routine and tells me exactly what she wants and has me trained well. We understand each other very well !!! She even plays ball in the mornings. She’ll scuttle under the bed to find one then drop it at me feet I through it down the hall she fetches and brings back.
    What i mean is to boycott the sponsers of the msm.
    Most of us stopped watching awhile ago.
    Every year billions of dollars collectively are put into advertising by different companies.
    Would you put your companies money where it will not do any good?
    If we boycott the sponsers during the busiest shopping time of the year we can make the media feel a cut in revenue and maybe become accountable for their actions.
    We are from all over the country and some outside the country. We can make a difference.
    Shopping selectively can be effective.
  135. and he probably does not know this either……..
    Just 2% of voters who supported Barack Obama on Election Day obtained perfect or near-perfect scores on a post election test which gauged their knowledge of statements and scandals associated with the presidential tickets during the campaign, a new Zogby International telephone poll shows
    Only 54% of Obama voters were able to answer at least half or more of the questions correctly.
    The 12-question, multiple-choice survey found questions regarding statements linked to Republican presidential candidate John McCain and his vice-presidential running-mate Sarah Palin were far more likely to be answered correctly by Obama voters than questions about statements associated with Obama and Vice-President–Elect Joe Biden. The telephone survey of 512 Obama voters nationwide was conducted Nov. 13-15, 2008, and carries a margin of error of +/- 4.4 percentage points. The survey was commissioned by John Ziegler, author of The Death of Free Speech, producer of the recently released film “Blocking the Path to 9/11″ and producer of the upcoming documentary film, Media Malpractice…How Obama Got Elected.
  136. clean up 2:45 — It never ceases to amaze me how Obots are really, really good at projection but are terrible at everything else, like logic, reasoning, etc.
  137. myiq – Poor Jane. She got into the IACF habit and can’t seem to quit.
  138. Someone should tell David that Teleprompter Jesus is appointing Republicans to posts in his administration – lots of them!
  144. david2 — yep, I’m sure all those that voted for W were exactly as poorly informed as the B0 voters.
    This country was sold on the idea by the msm that “inexperienced” was a good thing, for the President & 8 years later they bought it again.
  145. gxm your baby is so adorable!!!!!
  146. When will the Obots learn. Obama has betrayed their trust many times already – How’s FISA working out for you – Someone has to break it to the Obots. Guys, “He’s just not that into you.”
  147. Chelsea had better watch out, I bet anything they’ll find a way to start blaming her for stuff too. Gotta snuff out that natural political acumen before it blooms to much.
  158. Oh, now david is trying to act like Obama doesn’t support Bush’s fascist policies, like warrantless wiretapping, torture, Gitmo, the unitary executive….
    I have a feeling that Kool-Aid is gonna wear off real soon.
  159. Acch nevermind, wasn’t important anyway. Just kills me when tr0lls say “you people.” Isn’t that one of those code phrases?
  168. why then was the NY times reporting yesterday that Obama is thinking Gitmo should stay open?
  169. dakinikat — but it is so fun to see them chasing their tails & using words improperly!
    Ok, I’ll stop. :-)
  170. Obama wants to close Gitmo – and move the prisoners somewhere else outside the US
  171. didn’t obama vote for warentless wiretapping just a few months ago?
    sheesh, hopium destroys brain cells, we have living proof right there in david’s little petry dish of a head
  172. dakini: It is really quite simple, because he doesn’t know what the fuck to do.
  173. helenk – I understand boycotting the sponsors -I do that and I let them know it – I’m just one small person – and why I do it. Hm, seems they aren’t listening. If we organize a bloc of people – then they will feel it. I actually get physically ill now if I am cruising by CNN, MSNBC, et al and they are spewing “trash” on the Clintons or lying about the wonderous O’s.
    My rage has been boiling/simmering for nine years. I used the consider the smirking chimp a Rethug thing only. They showed me this year – it’s Dems too – they changed horses- the Dems that is. The smirking “pundits” – journalists know exactly what they are foistering – hence the smirks and being so kewl.
  174. i thought no other country wants the Gitmo prisoners? That’s the problem
  175. Then why not just leave them there?
  176. MyIq, I thought I read just yesterday that they were saying that there would be logistical complications with regard to closing down Gitmo. Am I remembering things wrong?
  177. Obama will ban torture
    Of course “enhanced interrogation” isn’t torture, just like G-dub said
  178. It is not equivalent retaliation to lie and say I’m ugly — dumbass — it is just a lie. I have a mirror, I know what I look like. Pointing out that you are a moron, however, is the truth.
  179. Words matter when you change what they mean.
  180. Obama says lots of things – some of them even turn out to be true.
    Oh, Hillary — when you’re gone, how can I carry on ???
  182. “enhanced interrogation”
    hmmmm
  183. That’s purely coincidental.
  184. Simo, what’s vid about, mah friend?
  185. Regency — lol — no kidding — if anything he says is in fact true it is purely by accident! LOL
  186. I bet David has a camel toe
  187. angienc is beautiful inside and out !!!!
  188. Aaah, heck. We need a tr0ll bashing open thread, don’t you think?
    Bring it on!
  189. In 2004 62 million Americans thought that George W. Shrub was doing such a bang up job running the country that they voted for him again. In 2008 nearly 67 million voted for a man who thought there were 57 states in the U.S.A., and who stated that his policies will bankrupt the coal industry (the single largest source of electricity production in the country) causing skyrocketing energy costs. One hundred twenty-nine million people in this country voted for the two most incompetent, corrupt presidential candidates this nation has produced since Warren G. Harding.
    More than one in three Americans are so unbelievably brain dead stupid they should not be capable of respirating. If breathing was not an action rooted in an involuntary nerve impulse, more than one third of the population of this country would drop dead.
    Do you think Canadians are smarter?
  190. Brava, Angie.
  191. regency — it’s abba singing SOS — a little play on SoS
  192. By “ugly” David means you have “scary lady parts”
  193. Thank you simofish & Kim
  194. britgirl — lmoa & rotf
  196. “Any blogger who participates in the continued hunting of President Clinton by the right wing and the MSM rather than helping to shoot down the bullshit demonstrates that he’s no different than Matt Drudge. Period.
    The pernicious effect of CDS is that it has convinced vast swaths of the chattering class that the source of corruption in American politics is the Clintons, and that anything except them in a position of power is preferable to either of them having any authority, even that means Republicans or a Democrat who insists on keeping the political opposition with their hands in the cookie jar.”
    The FISA revision let Buscho off the hook for breaking the law.
    I’m gonna listen to some abba
  200. Anybody got a new post ready?
    BTW – tell SOD I postponed TFHT until 7pm est for her.
  201. David – Obama voted for telecom immunity after promising to filibuster it.
    Care to try to spin that?
    Obama is backing off closing Gitmo. Obama is softening his position on torture.
    Jeebus Christmas, you’re a moron.
  202. Myiq – wanna post an open thread?
    I think we need it.
  203. k
    gimme a minute
  204. yeah, Myiq2xu: you take Tr0ll duty for awhile … i’m just letting them play with him at the moment
  205. myiq — I just sent SOD an email with the info.
    david5 — please, please get help.
  206. Shoot!
  213. madamab — don’t forget, now he is going to listen to the generals on the ground about ending the war in Iraq (besides escalating in Afghanistan & started a war with Pakistan) How anyone said HRC was the “hawk” is beyond me.
  214. See John Stossel’s article named “A Duty Not to Vote?” (see: http://www.creators.com/opinion/john-stossel/a-duty-not-to-vote.html)
    I am beginning to really agree with Stossel. He said that when 20/20 went to a HeadCount concert (http://tinyurl.com/47qe8q) and asked some potential voters, “How many senators are there?” One said 12, another 16, and another 64. One girl guessed, “50 per state.”
    We have an electorate that is generally very uninformed and the rest are sadly, dumber than dumb. They know more about the winners of American Idol than the past 5 presidents of the US. Do you really want them to vote on propositions, congress leaders, for the prez?
  215. what if McCain (or Palin) had referred to an AA relative as a “typical black lady”.
  216. shtuey: My only consolation is that I am not one of those 129 million people in this country. I’ve lived the past 8 years in immense frustration at the sheeple’s decisions and will now have to live another 4 years of it. There are days I think life might just be a tad less frustrating if we joined the sheeple! Baa! Baa! WAAA!! :P
    God help America!
  217. Damn! Everyone knows there are 114 Senators. I admit that I can’t name all of the 57 states but I know they each get 2! ;)
  218. David,
    bite me
  219. Be sure to watch the Stossel video:
    http://abcnews.go.com/video/playerIndex?id=6009249
    At the Headcount concert, kids who were interviewed and when asked what Roe v. Wade was – Most kids didn’t know what Roe v. Wade was about. “Roe vs. Wayne?” asked one. “Segregation, maybe?” “Where we declared bankruptcy?” “Black person and a white person?”
    And you wonder why America is in so much trouble or why we have such corrupted leaders.
  220. The thing that disqualifies Obama for me (aside from the fact that he is, at best, center-right in a center-left nation) is that I’ve seen no evidence that he has ever put in a full day of work on anything other than something that is intended to glorify himself.
    When Obama first took his seat in the Senate, I watched a few hearings when he was on the committee. In each instance, Obama would use most of his time to state the obvious and then, at the very end of his allotted time, ask a nothing question. It was obvious that he was unprepared and figured that he thought he could get by with his “no sh*t, Sherlock” comments.
    Here’s my own list:
    1. What if McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review who didn’t publish a single thing during his tenure?
    2. What if Michelle had come home with a child who was ill and of a different race? Would Obama have adopted her?
    3. What if McCain read eloquent speeches from teleprompters that said absolutely nothing?
    4. What if McCain had lied about adhering to public financing for the GE if his opponent did so?
    5. What if, as McCain’s major claim to fitness for office during his first Congressional run, he touted his time as Chairman of a project that was meant to improve the quality of public schools? What if that time was marked by a disbursement of about $100 million with little or no oversight and less improvement in test scores than in schools that were not part of the project?
    6. What if McCain’s campaign allowed people to donate with prepaid cards and no verification of information?
  221. What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
    Do we know where he ranked in his class?
  222. what does any of that have to do with the fact that Obama is a guy who spent 144 days in the senate, has never accomplished anything, and is a fraud?
  223. re: “What if the Obamas had adopted a white child?”
    I infer from this question that the Obama supporters feel that it was wrong for the McCains to adopt a child from a Mother Teresa run Bangladesh orphanage…how very odd….
  224. re: swanspirit:”When intelligent friends of mine were telling me Sarah shoots wolves from a helicopter for sport”
    Gar! I assumed people would see through the transparent PETA propaganda ads, or at least educate themselves on the facts before the election. I had a student in my class say the same thing. I pointed out that she only supported culling wolves so native subsistence hunters could survive. He said that he worked at a zoo & was against hunting…gar….
