The Judgment of Barack Obama: A Play in One Telling Act.

Thanks to BostonBoomer for inspiring this one!

Trust Me!

Trust Me!

THE SCENE: BARACK OBAMA’s office. Like the candidate himself, the office is slick, expensive and trendy. The furniture is made of lucite and cream leather, and photos of The One cover the walls. A silver MacBook rests on the desk, which has the Possum seal on it. OBAMA himself is seated behind the desk, talking on his iPhone.

OBAMA: Yeah, Michelle, you’ve got the day off. Just sit at home and look cute. Kiss the girls for me!

(He puts the phone down on his desk.)

OBAMA: (to himself) Man, I sure could use a cigarette. This campaign is stressing me out. What with the economy, the war, that wacky Alaskan chick and all those crazy PUMA ladies who refuse to vote for me, I just wish the whole danged thing were over and I could sit in that awesome chair in the Oval Office.

Maybe I need a nap. Just for a few minutes…

(OBAMA closes his eyes. The stage goes dark, then fills with a gauzy blue light. We understand that OBAMA is dreaming. JEREMIAH WRIGHT walks into the office.)

WRIGHT: Barack, my brother. How are you doing?

OBAMA: Jeremiah! Uh, what can I do for you? Just make it quick, I’ve got a meeting in a few minutes.

WRIGHT: A meeting? What are you talking about? You don’t have any meetings to go to. You’re back in Illinois.

OBAMA: Jeremiah, you’re not making sense. I’m about to make history as America’s first black President. Yes, I can!

WRIGHT (chuckling): Oh, Barack, you are too much! McCain won the election. And it’s all because of us! Come on in, folks!

(WILLIAM AYERS walks in, along with his wife, BERNARDINE DOHRN; ANTONIN “TONY” REZKO; NANCY PELOSI; HARRY REID; and MADELEINE TALBOT, the head of the Chicago chapter of ACORN. They all form a line in front of OBAMA’s desk, blocking him from view. As each dream figure speaks, he or she takes a step forward, and takes a step back when finished.)

WRIGHT: Well, you know how I helped McCain win. “God Damn America,” and all my anti-Clinton ranting, wasn’t as hopeful and inspiring as you thought, I guess! And of course, there were your other friends, my fellow preachers Pfleger and Meeks. Pfleger said America was the greatest sin against God, and Meeks, well, he’s not too friendly towards the gay community or white people. We all gave the voters a real birds-eye view of the type of religious views you’ve been listening to for decades, and let’s just say it didn’t go over too well. Who wants to go next? (looking at PELOSI) How about you, garlic-nose?

AYERS (stepping forward): No, me, me! I still wish I had done more bombings as head of the Weather Underground, and I was thoughtful enough to say so on September 11, 2001. You’ve known me, personally and professionally, for decades. You launched your political career from my living room, and you sat on the board of the Woods Foundation and the Annenberg Foundation with me. I was definitely a big part of why you didn’t win. Credit where credit is due!

DOHRN: Hey, don’t forget about me! When a man was paralyzed in one of our riots, I wrote a mocking song about how he couldn’t move. I’ve never expressed any regret about my actions either, just like my dear husband. So don’t count me out!

TALBOT: Huh. Well, I can see why you guys were a bit hard to swallow. But what about me? I’m getting a really bad rap, just because I wanted to, um, help Barack with his political career. I mean, so what if he gave one of ACORN’s affiliates $800,000 in the primaries for get-out-the-vote activities? So what if my organization is under investigation for falsifying thousands of voter registrations in Gary, Indiana – the same place, coincidentally, where the mayor famously and inexplicably refused to release the primary election results for hours, preventing most Americans from knowing that Barack had lost the state? And some people say we helped Freddie Mac extend risky loans to the poorer members of our society. Whatever. We’re just trying to help out our community!

PELOSI: Yes, Madeleine, you really are getting a bad rap. I understand where you’re coming from. I mean, I know I said I’d clean up Washington when we Democrats took over Congress in 2006. But I didn’t mean we’d do anything to really upset the status quo, like end the war, or impeach Bush and Cheney! Yeesh, I would have become President if I’d gotten those two bozos out of power, and then who would we blame for the economy collapsing? And honestly, how did anyone notice we were trying to slip a giant bonus to ACORN into the bailout bill? Why are they paying so much attention? It’s just a few billion bucks!

REID: Well, I don’t know why I’m here at all. I didn’t do anything to help McCain win. Everyone knows I’m an ethical man!

PELOSI: Oh, please, Harry, you said no one knew what to do about the economic situation. Then, you helped me tie the unpopular bailout bill to Obama. Way to go!

REZKO (interrupting): Excuse me, but don’t you think I deserve a little attention? Barack bought a house with me when I was under investigation for money laundering. I funnelled money to most all of you Chicago folks through my various connections. Now, I’m singing like a bird to federal prosecutors. What do you think I said?

OBAMA (standing, coming around to the front of the desk to address the group): Are you guys serious? I really lost because I was associated with you? But Axelrod says that my links to corrupt politicians and organizations, and to racist and bigoted preachers, and to unrepentant domestic terrorists, are just a distraction! And I thought Harry and Nancy were popular with the American people!

(ALL of the dream figures laugh tolerantly.)

WRIGHT: Now, son, you have to understand that people believed you when you said your judgment was better than Hillary’s or McCain’s. After all, they voted for the AUMF, and you supposedly made a speech in 2002 about how we shouldn’t go into Iraq. So when people found out how closely allied you were with us, well, it kind of took the halo off your head, and they started looking at your experience and record a bit more closely. And they found that your resume, thin as it was, was STILL filled with lies.

OBAMA: Like what? I didn’t lie!

TALBOT: Now, honey, you know you did. What about that claim that you were the first black editor of the Harvard Law Review?

OBAMA: But I was! Wasn’t I? (TALBOT shakes her head.) Well, dammit. That wasn’t the Law Review I knew!

PELOSI (coming over and putting her hands on his shoulders): Listen, Barack, you’ve got to face it. We tried, but you were just not the right man at the right time. IF you know what I mean.

OBAMA (with dawning relief): So – so you’re saying it’s not my fault? That it’s really because I’m black that people wouldn’t elect me?

AYERS: Of course it is, Barack. We were just joshing you before. Weren’t we, folks? (ALL nod and agree vociferously) Now, go back to sleep. When you lose in November, just remember – it’s all because of your skin color. America just wasn’t ready to have a black president.

OBAMA (relieved): Thank God! (The dream figures start to leave.) Hey guys, wait up! What happens if I win?

(ALL the dream figures turn around.)

PELOSI (smiling): Why, then, we can all continue our very profitable and happy association with you. And we will expect a lot of quid pro quo. We’re talking Cabinet positions, earmarks for ACORN, expansion of faith-based programs for the preachers here, and a Presidential pardon for Tony. The works!

OBAMA (happily): Well, that sounds great, everyone. Thanks for stopping by, and don’t forget to wear anything but Racist White to the Inaugural Ball!

(ALL the dream figures file out of the office except HARRY REID, who pauses at the door and turns around.)

REID: Um, Barack, you did hear us, right? You know that you could still lose this thing?

(OBAMA leans back in his chair, with a big smile on his face.)

OBAMA: Sure, Harry, I sure did. I’m gonna win in a landslide. Everything’s going perfectly! Now, you just run along. I have to finish planning my guest list for the Inauguration!

(REID turns to the audience and shakes his head.)

(LIGHTS OUT.)

  1. I’m enjoying your play. Just dropped down to make boring editorial comment: Elrod wasn’t paralyzed by a bomb. He tried to stop a fleeing rioter. The guy ran into him. Dohrn, of course, did pen the vicious little snit you mention.

  2. Haha – Bo cant win as that would actually mean that he needed to do some work instead of just talking abt change! i am sure that thought would stress him out!

  3. Great job madamab, as always. You know it is a dream because of this line:
So when people found out how closely allied you were with us, well, it kind of took the halo off your head, and they started looking at your experience and record a bit more closely. And they found that your resume, thin as it was, was STILL filled with lies.
I don’t think that has happened in the msm, but hopefully this dream becomes reality on Nov. 4.

  4. Thanks, angelasmith! I will change it accordingly.

  5. Madamab, that was really good.

  6. angie – You’re right – I don’t expect the corporate media to do this, although they do seem to be following the ACORN story a bit more closely.

The American people, however, are a different story. At least, I hope so!

    :-)

  7. I hope so too, madamab — in fact, I’m counting on it. I went over to the cesspool that TL has become (I know, I know) and BTD actually has a post up about how Fannie & Freddie had nothing to do with the sub-prime mess! GAH!

  8. I’ve got to take off for a little while. Be back later. Tawk amongst yehselves!

  9. Have fun madamab!

  10. In the last thread, Fran posted a piece from the Philly Enquirer where a protester was waiting outside for Palin and said, “Let’s stone her, old school.”

Here’s the link to the article:

    http://www.philly.com/philly/hp/news_update/20081011_By_Mari_A__Schaefer.html

And here’s a blogger who thinks that’s funny and it made him laugh (but get off his back, dude, and don’t give a hard time or anything, it’s like, not literal!):

    http://hotdogandfriends.com/2008/10/12/sarah-palin-attempts-to-win-over-philly-crowd-fails

  11. Ms. Dohrn is a Manson family wannabee

Charlie & Co. haven’t killed anybody since 1969, which is longer than since the Weatherman’s bombs killed anyone.

Didja know Dohrn wasn’t Ayers’ first squeeze in the gang. His original girlfriend was blown to spagetti sauce by a shrapnel bomb intended for the Ft. Dix NCO club.

Bill was the bomb tech, his squeeze and 2 others were discontinued when someobdy sneezed at the wrong time, but Bill wasn’t around that day.

It’s still murder though, even if it was his pals who got shredded instead of some soldiers.

  12. I’m thinking that Ayers and Dohrn have done further acts of violence that we don’t know of as yet.
I don’t think people with such a taste for destruction can channel it into writing books (however crappy) and talking to college kids about how wonderful they were back in the day.

I think the FBI needs to crack down (oh sorry Barry, you didn’t think that was a reference to your blow habit, did you?) on Dohrn and Ayers.

This would be especially nice since it would show Ayers was continuing in his violent vein while playing footsie with his BFF Barack.

  13. Yes, Madamab – you’ve done it again! Thanks so much – we needed that right about now. But while we’re on the subject of r*cism I posted this on the previous thread – they really seem desperate:

nomobama, on October 12th, 2008 at 1:48 am Said:

    http://community.marketwatch.com/groups/us-politics/topics/clintons-file-rico-suit-against

Well, nomobama, all I can say is – IT’s ABOUT TIME!
This could make a real difference

My husband and I attended his nephew’s wedding in PA this weekend and stayed in a Marriott – I rarely watch the TV and never in the AM but when we got up Mike turned it on and there was the story about how poor little BO may not win because we’re still so r*c*st in the US. I looked at my husband and said, well – there it is – I was wondering when they were going to try to guilt us into voting for him
Now, I’m an Italian Catholic mother so I know guilt – in fact, the only ones I know better at laying guilt are my Jewish girlfriends. So here they are starting a significant piece of the campaign seems to be faultering.
And if you have any doubts about how precisely planned out this entire campaign has been go to the books The End of America by Naomi Wolf all 10 steps of how to overthrow a government are in there – I particularly liked chapter nine: Restrict the Press
I am heartened by the link that nomobama has given us – mentioned above – perhaps people will start listening.

  14. what a great play !!!
    Thank you so much !!!
The MSM doesnt care about any amount of tax problems , or other valid issues regarding bo, nor will they weigh heavily on the election reporting , and MSM will not report it as important .
They will twist and spin it in their blender unitl it is pureed into an acceptable pablum to spoon feed to the public .
I think we are witnessing ( go ahead call me r*acist) the phenom wherein we have a deeply flawed cadidate ; but so many left and liberal media support him anyway because he is the first AA candidate to rise to this position in history .
Any faults or flaws, history or record, or lack thereof , that would have immediately disqualified any other candidate is washed away in the river of this perceived opportunity . And part of the unreal dream is that somehow this ” flawed figure” will rise to occasion and fulfill the dreams of people , and in the false hope of history making, any valid criticism of him is anathema , and incurs the wrath of the “faithful” . I am; at this point , almost expecting the Spanish inquisition .
This does not mean that we have to fall under the spell of this cult like development , but the awareess of what is happening needs to be addressed , and brought to the people . That is why the attacks on John and Sarah are being stepped up ; because that is exactly what they are doing ; bringing it to the people and so the attacks are .stepping up and bo himself inciting people to be “getting in peoples faces ” and typically of him denying any responsibilty , neither is he being held to any by the media .
I am steeling myself to see even more rabid attacks , because attacking the figure head of a cult bring on those kinds of irrational attacks . This country not only deserves better ; we NEED honesty and experience , in these dangerous times. not some crazy cult like figure making promises he has already failed to keep , banking on the fears and prejudices of this country to fulfill his own ambitions and greed.

  15. Thanks Madamab! This is even better than my fantasy play. I love it. And it’s just what I needed today.

I wonder if Obama really can still lose. All of the conservatives seem to have given up. I know they aren’t enthused about McCain, but they are terrified of Obama. They don’t think McCain ha a chance.

  16. Excellent play, madamab! I’m going to pass this one along to my daughter.

VERY interesting thing happened today while my husband and I were shopping at Marshall’s. I overhead a woman having a heated conversation on her cell phone… and she was ranting about Obama and the “Obama nazis.” I went over to my husband and said “She’s having MY conversation.” He moved closer to her to listen. He had a big grin on his face when he came back toward me and said “She’s saying ‘do they think we’re stupid?’” Honestly, I just spent two hours last night having this same heated discussion with my daughter.

As I’ve said many times, my daughter calls us “the quiet ones.” And I really think that Obama and his gang of supporters/thugs may very well be in for a rude awakening come November. There’s a lot of us out here. We’re just trying to lay low because of the hostility coming from camp Obama.

  17. Didja know that under the “felony-murder rule” you are guilty of murder if you participate in a violent or serious felony and as a result someone dies.

For instance, if you and a friend decided to rob a liquor store using a fake gun, and the clerk pulled a real gun and proceded to ventilate your friend with semi-jacketed hollowpoints until your pal died of excessive hole-iness, you would be guilty of murder.

Even if you were outside driving the get-away car.

So why isn’t Bill Ayers occupying a cell inside of a maximum security prison somewhere in New York?

  18. Oops! I forgot the question mark at the end of the first sentence.

That’s okay, my question was basically rhetorical anyway.

  19. a song I wrote called “Say It Isnt So JOe”

McCain/Palin closing in a making Ohio a tight race according to polls, and that is a ticker on cnn so it must be true LOLOLOLOLO

anyways, I wrote a song called “Hey Joe, Say It Isnt So”

    you can find it here

    http://www.myspace.com/carollowerystyles

an upbeat song to hopefully make you smile when you need it most:)

  20. Great theater! Now let’s win this thing! Nobama, No not ever, never!

  21. Madamab! Great play! Perfect collection of information!

AS MYIQ pointed out last night, this investigation will not come to fruition before the election. But that ’s not necessary. This information needs to be circulated to voters now in a 1-2-3 punch.

    1) Acorn Investigation

    2) Not one but MANY horrific associations including: Ayres, Rezco, and Wright

    3) The Odinga association and use of funds

Forward links to all. Forward to everyone, including the Republicans you know. It makes a difference.

  22. That was a good dream. In fact good enough to be reality…
Damn that media, they didn’t have to work that hard to help W steal 2 elections!

  23. WOOHOO CAROL i love your song it rocks :) Thank you for posting it !!!

    http://www.myspace.com/carollowerystyles

is it downloadable ?? how do we get it to SARAH ??

  24. carolflowery
    I love the song!

  25. I have asked PUMA’s about this but no one comments.

WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH OBAMA, THE DNC AND THIS BERG LAWSUIT?

THIS VIDEO IS GOING LIKE HOTCAKES ON YOU TUBE.

  26. Fab play, madamab! I just e-mailed it to friends…. some still talking to me, some not.

gxm17 – my head’s spinning. Are we the “Silent Majority” that Nixon spoke about? I keep reminding myself that I live in a bubble here in CT/NYC. I’d like to think instead that we’re just typical, sensible, skeptical Frank Capra-esque Americans. We spotted this phony baloney months ago.

You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.

  27. swanspirit, I think you’re right. Folks on the left, and apparently even some in the middle, are using Obama’s race as a happy pill. IMO, it’s makes them feel like they’re advancing America by forcing an inexperienced black candidate into the presidency. But, like Obama, this gesture is just that: a gesture. All show, no substance. No real change, just an outward appearance of it.

Now I’m going to say something that many people may find r@cist or “r@cially insensitive, but it’s something that’s bothered me for a while. Unlike Geraldine Ferraro, I don’t think Obama has made it to this position because he’s black. I think he’s made it this far because he has a white mother. And I think that’s why he’s running those photos of her in his despicable healthcare ad. So that all those folks who support the “black man” can be comforted by the fact that he was born to a white woman and raised by his mother’s white parents. (How’s that for cynical?)

  28. In the last few days, I have literally seen RCP posting articles from leftish writers and journals defending Ayers, along with others accusing McCain of playing “The Willie Horton Card.”

The Audacity of Mendacity– now there is the title of a play crying out to be written. I think the title’s uncopyrighted.

  29. This was really good. Thanks!

  30. Maybe we SHOULD expect the Spanish Inquisition , we are after all heretics are we not??

  31. myiq — Ayers is not in prison because when he turned himself in & actual was going to be prosecuted the lawyer hired by his money bags daddy got the charges thrown out based on prosecutorial misconduct.
I do have to say Ayers’ daddy is a lot more forgiving than I would have been considering Ayers advised kids to “kill their parents.”

  32. Maybe we SHOULD expect the Spanish Inquisition , we are after all heretics are we not??

  33. Actually, imo, the only difference between Ayers & Manson is the fact that Ayers has a rich daddy & Manson doesn’t even know who is father is.

  34. The Weathermen/Weather Underground were a bunch of college-educated rich kids.

Okay, Dohrn wasn’t rich until she married Ayers, but he is filthy rich.

Diana Oughton, Ayers’ ex whose body had to be recovered with sponges and scraping tools was also a rich kid.

Cathlyn Wilkerson’s father owned the destroyed townhouse. He was a radio-station executive, so I’m guessing he was doing alright. She went on the lam after escaping the explosion.

Kathy Boudin also excaped and went on the run, later participating in robbing a Brinks truck where a guard was killed.. He dad was a prominent lawyer.

Ted Gold (who was killed in the explosion) was the son of a prominent physician, but Terry Robbins (also blown to bits) was from a middle-class family in Queens

    They were the original Obots.

  35. swan — nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! Their chief weapon is surprise & fear. lol

  36. “Great Story gmx17″
    It’s time we get NOTICED!!
They know about “us” that’s why they have Carville out there’
    “playing the R@cist card!
On the last post I listed a venue “MAYBE” we could get EXPOSURE!!
If I knew how to “cut-n-paste” I’d bring it up
My offer remains on the table.

  37. madamab, that was brilliant!

  38. betuscha, I’m in Northern Virginia. The Old Dominion usually goes red. The last time we went blue was for LBJ. But the MSM is reporting that we’re a swing state this year, and some electorate maps even show us leaning Obama. And yet I’m just not convinced. Until the folks down the street had their McCain/Palin yard sign (presumably) stolen, there were two McCain/Palin signs in my neighborhood to Obama’s one.

Hopefully the ONE time I finally vote red, my state will vote with me.

  39. I was watching football and was rudely interrupted by an Obama ad saying McCain gives a hundred million Americans “nothing,” while Obama will give the middle class “three times” the tax relief McCain will. So apparently Obama is offering us “three times nothing.”

  40. ROFLMAO JOHNINCA too bad bo is so bad at math ohh too funny hahahahaha

  41. myiq2xu: Have any of the parents of the kids who died said anything? I was a kid back then.

  42. Angie .. that was one of the alltime great monty python sketches I still love it … I guess what I am suggesting is to “preempt ” the attacks and thereby nullify their effect , because they are coming …

ps my best friend and songstress lives in NC

  43. Could someone comment on what i asked about or am I being ignored about this for the 2nd time?

  44. Our niece’s husband owns a small business in northern VA – he is really upset as he thinks things might go blue this year.

  45. the gallup daily poll has shown an obama 7-11 pt lead over the last week (it is currently 7), but according to their poll today, they are going ot begin using “likely voters” for their daily, and in that poll obama only has a 4 pt lead (50-46)

The first likely voter model is based on Gallup’s traditional likely voter assumptions, which determine respondents’ likelihood to vote based on how they answer questions about their current voting intention and past voting behavior. According to this model, Obama’s advantage over McCain is 50% to 46% in Oct. 9-11 tracking data.

I wonder if they’re trying to correct to more realistic numbers as the election gets closer…

  46. PS folks i am live on the air at Cygnus Radio http://www.cygnusradio.com
for live chat hit the chat button up top you know you are all welcome :)

doing my sunday Neighborhood Radio Show ( No wrong sides of the tracks in this Neighborhood )

Neighborhood Radio is a mix of all kinds of music :)

  47. Hey, AAAG – I’m not sure where that is at this point – Miqu do you know? I think the action that nomobama brought up in the following link, is possibly more viable and may get action more quickly: http://community.marketwatch.com/groups/us-politics/topics/clintons-file-rico-suit-against

  48. gary — the difference between “registered voters” (the poll that shows the 7-11 point lead for BO) & likely voters is that “registered voters” include dead voters.
AAAGal — I think no one is responding to your link (which I enjoyed btw) because RD asked us not to talk about the birth cert. thing.

  49. AAG – most of us here are not focused on stories like the birth certificate. Our blogmother prefers it that way. No Quarter has a lot of info on it, I think.

  50. AAA Gal, we’re not allowed to go into the birth certificate thing here.

I noticed though that the doc was produced by something called Illuminati News. “Illuminati” is a subject worth your while researching, as the secret societies and cabals that govern us have been extraordinarily successful in keeping in the shadows.

  51. All Afro American Gal, on October 12th, 2008 at 1:49 pm Said:
Could someone comment on what i asked about or am I being ignored about this for the 2nd time?

not ignored AAAG , I think it was decided to let that particular issue rest on this blog … for various and sundry reasons

  52. Okay I did not know that it was commanded from on high nit to talk about it.

    Take care guys

  53. So John McCain offers you nothin’? We can do better than that– we’ll give you three times nothin’!

  54. JohninCA: The Parade supplement in my newspaper this morning echoed that “data” on tax cuts, point blank saying that folks with incomes under 112K will get a tax savings under O, while McCain helps the rich. This wasn’t an ad, Obama got this for free.

This is the craziest election. Parade used to be a Bush rag. Now it loves Obama, tears down McCain, and even spins ooey-gooey on Streisand and Sarandon, both of whom Parade formerly hated. Congrats, there, Susan S. You are now loved by the Bush-luvin Parade.

  55. All Afro American Gal, I just watched the video. For me, the birth certificate isn’t a big issue. (Of course it will be a big issue if, by chance, Berg is right.) The bigger issue to me is the lack of transparency. Not handing over the records and hiding behind legal machinations. It’s one of the many ways that Obama reminds me of Bush. The kool-aid drinkers may find it amusing that Obama is using Bush tactics, but I certainly don’t. I don’t want another 4 years of this cr@p!

  56. Johninca – LOL!!! That is a great observation.

    :-)

  57. Ooops. I didn’t realize that this issue was a no-no. Sorry for addressing it.

  58. :::: wild applause ::::

    Thanks madamab! You’re so good with the “Plays” !!!! :) :) :)

  59. SOD — please don’t forget — not only are the polls oversampling Dems & AAs, gallop admitted that they have been reporting the “registered voters” number only — the “likely voters” number has BO with only a 4 point lead — one point above the margin of error, which considering BO overpolls by at least 5 (because people are just too dang scared to admit they aren’t voting for BO because they will be labeled “r@cist”) is not much.
Add in the fact that gallop also said on tv that usually they get 50% hang ups during their polling, but this year they have been getting 80% hang ups. IMO, those 80% hang ups are also due to people not wanting to admit they aren’t voting for BO.

  60. State,
I like your analysis. I am not up to speed on Odinga, but I am fascinated by Obama’s 1/2 hour media buy.

To me, that buy indicates an opportunity for damage control.

I’m thinking the speech has already been written. And, baby, wouldn’t I like to get a look at that.

  61. madamab, wonderfully done!

I have been thinking that it is good that Ayers is getting this negative attention. I have nothing against reformed, penitent criminals finding redemption and re-integrating into society. But Ayers doesn’t fit into that category. I wonder how many parents of U of Chicago students were aware that their children are being taught by a former domestic terrorist? I, for one, would be outraged that my tuition dollars were going to fund this man’s salary and that my children were attending his classes. Is it too much to hope that parents are loudly and vehemently letting the university know that someone like Ayers should not be a faculty member? I know, I know, if he’s tenured, there’s virtually nothing that can be done, but still, I hope the school is catching some heat.

  62. I think if this link is correct, that the Clinton’s filed with the FBI over voter fraud in Iowa -we may see something substantive happening in the next week or so: http://community.marketwatch.com/groups/us-politics/topics/clintons-file-rico-suit-against

  63. angela (beautiful name, btw) I said this before when we first heard about the 1/2 ad buy — who in h3ll besides the true devotees are going to spend 1/2 an hour watching BO? I mean PUH-LEASE — the public don’t watch the real President give the state of the union, are we really going to watch a 1/2 hour political ad?

  64. I believe Ayers teaches at the University of Illinois.
There are ways to get rid of tenured teachers. I don’t know what the criteria is at U of I. You’d think being an unrepentant domestic terrorist might be added to the list without too much difficulty.

  65. Hey angie–back at ya re the name.

My TV will be on a “time out” in the corner during the 1/2 propaganda spew.

I’d just love it if someone got a hold of the “speech” before airing time. I know he writes it all by himself the night before(hahahahaha).

  66. I’m thinking Obama has three or four speeches for the 1/2 hour event.

    one absolving him of Ayers

one absolving him of Wright (oh man, again?)

    one absolving him of Odinga

one proving that he’s American as the 67,000 flags behind him

and one mystery speech. I really, really want to know exactly what that one is for.

  67. Gary, when I spoke to people in Scranton yesterday, I came across quite a few undecided voters – more than those who told me they were planning to vote for Obama or McCain combined. Most of the undecided voters I spoke to said that they were more likely to vote for McCain. If the primaries taught us anything it is that Obama does not do well with last minute undecided voters. Obama also does not perform as well in exit polls.

Let’s be clear on one thing since the Obamabots and former Clinton supporters turned Obamabots are at the present time attempting to smear us as r*acists and out of touch with reality (hmm…sound familiar? guess they’ve started using Obama’s thug style primary tactics on everyone these days). I think Obama is in a great position to win this election. The financial crisis was the best thing to have happened to Obama and his surrogates continued cries of r*acism place their opponents in an uncomfortable position. However, I still believe that McCain can win and that this election will be a nail biter until the very end. Something is off about these polls. I can’t put my finger on it but they aren’t factoring some important groups that will determine this election.

  68. I’m thinking the polls are just about manufactured.

All McCain had to do was say he liked his position as underdog; a couple of repubs to get on air and say that since Obama is in front that he will now be scrutinzed
(yeah, well)– and suddenly the polls start moving in McCain’s direction again.

    I know there are ways to skew the polls. You can get the results you want by asking questions that are pointed a certain way; by choosing the pool you ask;
and just outright by misreporting the results.

Having watched this fiasco from primary until now, my cynicism level is reaching meltdown.

  69. state at 2:42

    lol…. yes he will!

  70. This data is crucial and my experience was that the hangups were by and large reliable conservative voters who hated intrusions into the privacy of their votes.

I have heard that hangups are way up– up to eighty percent from forty or fifty before this election.

If the nation woke up November 5 and found that the polls were a bunch of bull, that would be beautiful.

  71. During the sixties there were lots of “radicals” who said things that sounded pretty scary to mainstream “Ozzie and Harriet” types.

But most of it was just rhetoric, they talked of revolution but they weren’t really revolutionaries.

Ayers and the Weathermen went beyond rhetoric. They were really lucky they lived in the United States and had rich parents. In most countries revolutionaries get executed.

I really don’t know what they hoped to accomplish by setting off bombs.

They were rebels without a clue

  72. angelasmith, I’m still waiting for the Republican attack dogs to be released. I’m a bit frustrated with the McCain campaign and I’m a Democrat who has never voted for a Republican. So I can understand why Republicans are so upset and angry right now. It almost shocks me to see the Republican Party not know what to do. I think it is partly because they don’t know how to handle smearing a black candidate without appearing r*acist. I also think the financial crisis was also a huge and unexpected blow to McCain. The Republicans are the best at delivering damaging and unexpected news before an election to get rid of their candidate. But so is Obama who is Republican Lite and the most dishonest Democratic nominee I’ve ever seen run for president. All we can do is continue to work and hope that Rove and his minions are planning something in the next several weeks.

  73. “If the nation woke up November 5 and found that the polls were a bunch of bull, that would be beautiful.”

That’s what I think will happen. It’s just my gut feeling. The same way that I thought Nader voters who lose the election for Gore in 2000 and the same way I felt Kerry would lose in 2004. I could be wrong but my intuition says that there’s a quiet rebellion underway against the candidate the kingmakers are trying to foist upon us.

  74. hey guys i think larry at nq has been vindicated somewhat ,go check out cannonfire and maybe your better than i am with riddles as he has a post up about the source of the michelle tape.

  75. Disenfrancished,
I’m in the same boat as you. Dem forced to vote Repub. Obama makes Nixon look like an honest upright (albeit rather dead) citizen.

  76. I hate to say this, but Michelle Malkin has a post that is worth reading.

She dismantles the meme that McPalin rallies are the modern equivilent of Nazi hate fests.

  77. The weathermen to this day “romanticise ” this …

The Greenwich Village townhouse explosion was the premature detonation of a bomb as it was being assembled by members of the American “urban guerilla” organization, Weatherman (later rechristened the Weather Underground), in the basement of a townhouse at 18 West 11th Street in New York City’s Greenwich Village. The three persons nearest the bomb were killed, two others in the house were slightly injured, and the four story townhouse was reduced to rubble and caught fire.[1] Shortly before noon on Friday, March 6, 1970, people in the townhouse were assembling anti-personnel weapons armed with roofing nails and packed with dynamite. Years later, former members of the organization who had not been at the scene advanced differing (but not incompatible) claims as to the plans for use of the bombs. Thus, according to Mark Rudd, the plan was to set them off that evening at a dance for noncommissioned officers at the Fort Dix, New Jersey Army base.[2] According to a detractor, “former members” have reported that some of the bombs were destined for the Fort Dix dance and others for Butler Library at Columbia University.[3]

now.. who are the pigs really ??

Right on the money with that, Myqu – it was all ego and bravado gone even further amok.

  79. LOL!!!!!!!

MadamaB, Another great playlet, we must do this one soon on the radio!

  80. Hello everyone, I had the chance to see Sarah Palin’s rally in Johnstown and actually got Piper and Willow;s autographs! I wasn’t close enough, soon enough to get Sarah’s. It was a great crowd and enthusiastic. The girls are adorable. I got a picture of the two together that I will try to upload at somepoint when I fine my cable (Ha!).

  81. err….Willow’s autograph, and Find my cable…

  82. I agree that Gore should not have distanced himself from Clinton. BUT, I still believe that if Nader had not been in the mix, particularly in Florida, the outcome would have been different.

An interesting thing to note. Back in 2000 I was hanging out on a message board consisting mostly of local musicians and music reviewers. At the time there were a few virulent Nader supporters who spewed horrible invective at the Gore supporters, calling us among other things “Gore’s whores.” These young men were by no means representative of all Nader supporters. But I find it interesting that fast forward to 2008 and, what a coincidence, a large and vocal group of Obama supporters have turned hate mongering into an internet sport. I may be making a connection where there is none but I find the similarity eerie.

Holy Hannah. Those images were disturbing. I increasingly don’t recognize up from down anymore… and I thought that taunt about stoning Palin “old school” earlier today was bad.

Don, Seymour Hersh is the source Joe Cannon is hinting at, therefore the “Sherlock Holmes” clue. SH, see?

  85. so if one of larrys sources is hersh then who is the rep that showed him the tape and how can we force their hands as im afraid mac might not want to use it.

  86. Don, I disagree that McCain wouldn’t want to use the tape; I think he would, but I don’t think it would get seen very often, what with the so-called “liberal” media being completely in the tank for the so-called “liberal” Obama.

  87. yea however remember the mcain campaign and the rnc supposedly has 160million for the last 2 weeks.so i hope your right.i do beleive if hersh is larrys source then the story is probably true.

  88. This was a fun read. And so insightful too. Hopefully it comes true in November, and Obama finds out that no matter what the Democrats say, telling the truth is still much more preferrable than telling a lie.
