Does Capt. Spaulding design these posters?
Can we have the “chicken” recipe?
Got news from sister-in-law, on her way to birthing room.
Hopefully I’ll have a nephew in the next 12 hours!
I’m going to bed – take care guys & please watch out for that mystery meat.
It could be your grandma.
Oh no! Not granny!!
The secret to really great fried chicken is called “manteca”
If you use a fry pan, use manteca 50/50 with your regular oil. If you use a deep fryer (Fry Daddy etc.) add at least two heaping spoonfuls to the fryer while it’s heating.
The KFC secret is to marinate the chicken in the spices for a while and then add the flour.
I want to get Popeye’s recipe. I don’t care if it causes cancer and birth defects, that is the best fried chicken EVAH!
Granny is too tough to cook and eat.
I’ve been experimenting in an effort to get the El Pollo Loco secret too.
Before I go to bed:
“Manteca” is also Spanish slang for heroin.
But in non-drug terms, “manteca” is really LARD. Yep, plain ole LARD. Good night everyone & see you in trhe morning!
Check out this link. Note the Title of the article
community.marketwatch.com/groups/us-politics/topics/clintons-file-rico-suit-against
Here’s an old Hillary Clinton/KFC joke:
KFC is running the “Hillary Clinton special” It’s two small breasts, a pair of flabby thighs, and a bunch of left wings..
Use http:// in front of the word community for the complete link.
http://community.marketwatch.com/groups/us-politics/topics/clintons-file-rico-suit-against
Yep, lard.
You’ll die of coronary heart disease, but your fried foods will be the Bomb!
My secret for great fried chicken is my grandmother’s iron cast skillet. If you fry chicken in anything else but an iron skillet you are not eating “real” fried chicken.
Cooking with heroin probably wouldn’t work so well.
I want to get Popeye’s recipe. I don’t care if it causes cancer and birth defects, that is the best fried chicken EVAH!
Being from NOLA, yeah you rite! But, I think Al (Copeland) took that to the grave or mausoleum with him.
Guy, please check out the link that I posted and pass it around. It’s interesting and may be Obama’s and top Democrat’s downfalls.
I live near a Foster Farms processing plant, and it’s enough to make you swear off poultry if you ever see them disassemble a chicken or a turkey.
Of course, I still remember when I was five watching my uncle prepare one the old fashioned way, which wasn’t so hot eaither.
The only thing better than Popeye’s regular fried chicken is their spicy fried chicken
Hey — that was weird — I wasn’t logged in as “angienc” at word press, so I posted as “angie” and another picture of me (my first picture I uploaded as “angienc” on wordpress) was attached to my post. How did that happen?
Fredster — Al Copeland died?
I give up.
I wish I could get good cajun cooking out here in Big Smoggy, but there’s just too many miles between us and NOLA
We do get excellent Mexican food tho
Oh Lord…I’ve heard my mother talk about her Granny getting a chicken ready for Sunday dinner.
Her granny had a big farm in Dothan AL and slaughtered hogs and the whole nine yards. Ugh. I grew up with the supermarket and prefer it that way.
Dunno, but your new pic is much better
why give up nomobama? I read the link & I hope it is true, but fried chicken always takes prescedence with me!
which picture is better? the one linked to angienc or angie?
the one you are using now.
I can barely see your face on the old one
I agree — the picture attached to “angie” is too dark & my hair hides my face. That is why I switched pics.
angienc, on October 12th, 2008 at 1:57 am
This might be the one thing that can take Obama and DNC friends out of the picture. It’s about time, but no one here seems to be interested.
There have been so many times that I have been disappointed that Obama seems to get away with everything. This is serious, and I hope that Obama is implicated. This might be the investigation to do it!
Yeah Angie. he died earlier in the year. He had some type of cancer and had gone to Europe (Germany?) for treatment and died over there.
As usual with Al, the funeral was over the top! Huge Mass at Holy Name on St. Charles and then final services at Lake Lawn Metairie an entombment. I think he had gold casket! They did the whole thing; releasing the doves, singers, horse-drawn hearse and they lined up all of his boats and cars at the cemetery! LOL! I don’t know if Popeye’s catered or not! LOL!
nobama:
When people just drop a link without any explanation I usually ignore it.
We get lots of people that never say anything, they just post links and go
Has anyone managed to save friends from obotulism? Here are some questions I’ve been asking the cult members:
What has Obama done?
What does “change” mean?
What is Obama going to “change”?
Can you excuse away *all* of Obama’s shady associations?
Can you name a single bill that Obama drafted?
nomobama — the problem is will any charges actually be filed before the election or will we have to go through impeachment with a BO presidency?
Fried chicken is good, but fried Obama is much better!
By the way, Roy Rogers, when it existed, used to have excellent broiled chicken.
angienc,
If this gains traction quickly, maybe he will just drop out if polls plummet.
Fredster — sorry to hear about AL — my mom & dad live in his neighborhood (over on Folse in Metairie) and we would always walk down to his house to see those great (tacky but great) christmas lights. That funeral sounds JUST like I would expect for him — doves, gold casket & all! lol RIP Al.
I posted the link separately from my comments because for some reason, the link did not want to post in its entirety. The first time, it didn’t want to post at all, so I wasn’t sure what was going on.
I just want people to pass this around if they think it’s worthy. Time is of the essence if you want to see Obama lose like I do. The more people that read this, the better.
myiq: Have you tried Cajun Grocer?
http://www.cajungrocer.com/
The Richards (ree-chards) items aren’t bad.
http://www.cajungrocer.com/richards-cajun-foods-m-60.html
Good night.
Angie, if you google Al Copeland, you might find some video footage of the funeral. WWL had a lot on their site at the time.
BTW, I think all the wives/ex-wives showed up! Now that had to be interesting!!
Fredster — isn’t it funny how non-NOLA people don’t know how to pronounce things like Richards or Hebert?
Angie, you did know we lost Harry Lee too didn’t you?
Nobama:
Don’t expect any official investigation to stop Obama from getting elected.
For very good policy reasons, the AG and other prosecutors will not (and should not) file charges or release any reports just before an election.
I’m guessing the GOP would rather spend four years investigating Obama the way they investigated Bill and Hillary.
If they play their cards right they could retake the Senate in 2010 and the White House in 2012.
I really don’t think they want McCain to win. They want ta Democrat in the Oval Office to take the blame for the mess we’re heading into.
Roy Rogers no longer exists?
good night nomobama.
Thanks for the tip Fredster — I have got to see that funeral. I would have loved to been a fly on the wall with all the ex-wives!
Fredster! No, I didn’t know about Harry Lee! My mom is just not keeping me informed properly!! Well, I can’t say it comes as much of a surprise though, he was so unhealthy. RIP Harry Lee.
Hebert:
Ay-bear
As in Bobby Hebert, “The Cajun Cannon” and former quarterback of the Oakland Invaders (USFL) and NO Saints (NFL)
myiq — I agree with your assessment — whoever gets elected is not going to be able to steer this country out of this mess & will be a one term President. The GOP would rather that be Obama which is why they are only half-a$$ed attacking him.
angienc — non-Chicagoans have no clue how to pronounce Devon Avenue, Paulina Street or Goethe Street. There’s a joke that there are three streets in Chicago that rhyme with v@gina–Paulina, Melvina and Lunt.
Very good on Hebert myiq — but I wouldn’t have expected anything less from you.
ugsome lol!
I think McCain is trying to win, but the big money people and the leaders of the religious right are just going through the motions.
Even FOX News is lukewarm towards McCain, and that’s the GOP’s propaganda operation.
ugsome — sounds like Chicago has its own way o pronouncing street names like we do in NOLA — outsiders think CLIO is pronounced “Cleo” but we all know it is “CL 10″
OK, here’s what I don’t get.
Obama hangs around with an unrepentant terrorist over many years in his career, and acts as though it’s no big deal that he did so. McCain then points out that fact.
And who is the one fostering an atmosphere in which violence might occur?
McCain, of course — not the guy who had no problem treating as just another colleague someone who was a great perpetrator of violence.
I mean, huh?
myiq — exactly — McCain wants to win but the rest of the GOP is just “eh” about it. I actually think McCain wants to win because he does believe he is better for this country than Obama — and I give him credit for that, unlike Obama who only wants to win so he can be called “Mr. President”
The correct pronunciation of New Orleans is something like “Norlans” but when cajuns get talking fast it sounds like drunk rednecks speaking french but prettier.
angienc: Ask any cab driver, Goethe Street is go-EE-thee. And so you can impress the natives, Devon is Dev-ON, not DEV-on. (Great Indian food to be had on Devon btw.)
frankly0 — what you fail to understand is that nothing bad is ever Obama’s fault. I blame this atmosphere on the Gen Y’s “no responsibility” upbringing.
*shrugs* So the GOP aren’t trying, Obama is going to lose this all by himself with no help from anyone.
myiq — that’s N’awlins.
Seriously — my sentiments exactly. I honestly don’t see the majority of the voters in this country falling for Obama — not when they actually get in that booth & have to vote — no matter what they may be saying now.
Everyone has seemed so down today. I think it’s time for some late-night humor! The following is slightly off-color, but funny! (apologies in advance to anyone who is offended!)
4 doctors were having a discussion about what type of people were the easiest to operate on.
The first doctor says, “I really like operating on architects. They come with blueprints which makes it really easy to take them apart and then re-assemble.”
The second doctor says, “Well, I like operating on artists. Everything inside is color coded.”
The third doctor says, “I like engineers the best. Everything inside is numbered and diagrammed so the connections are quick and there is no guesswork.”
The fourth doctor says, “I LOVE working on the NEW Democrats! They have no brains, no spine, no balls, and their heads and *ssholes are interchangeable.”
I understand the proper pronunciation of Baltimore is Ballmer.
Yeah Angie, Harry had developed leukemia and had gone to Stanford several times for treatment and radiation. He had appeared to be looking better and said he was feeling better. Then something happened at the house, they rushed him to Ochsner and he died there. Naturally Jefferson Parish went into mourning.
I never met him, but my brother was a deputy in Jefferson. Still, not having met him I got a kick out of him, as impolitic as he could be.
Angie and myiq: I am beginning to believe that no the Repubs do not want to win this race, but I dread the idea of an Obama presidency. At least if we had divided government we’d have some kind of leash on him but not with Nancy and Harry running around the Capitol. And yes, the 2010 elections are going to be very interesting!
California is funny with location names. Many of them are Spanish but there is no rhyme or reason when a name is pronounced Spanish or gringo.
How about a town named “Salida?” That means “exit” in Spanish, which makes the freeway off-ramp sign interesting.
“Take the Salida exit”
angie, did you see the thing about how Gallup usually gets 40-50% hangups but now they’re getting 80%?
I don’t think those are Obots.
If you want to hear a funny accent you should have heard my dearly departed grandmother’s on my daddy’s side. She was born & raised in Boston, married my NOLA grandfather & spent 50 years in NOLA before she died. So it was a NOLA accent mixed with Boston — it was a hoot to hear her still say “pahk” for “park”
Angie:
Is it true that Louisiana law derives from the Napoleonic code rather than English common law?
Seriously – yes, I did hear that & it supports my theory that there is a bigger “anti-Obama” vote out there that is getting reported.
Hi, myiq, I left a nasty message for you on the koolaid piece.
btw, what do you think of the word “tr011″? Is it really in the filter? Is it a trigger word? Is it an insult? Is it automatically inflammatory? Is it ever inflammatory?
Seriously, where did you read that about Gallup?
myiq — yes it is true about the Napoleonic code — LA is the only civil law state in the union — and, in my unbiased opinion, the civil law is far, far superior to the common law.
Angie, don’t forget burgundy in the quarter is bur GUN dy. And then all the streets uptown: Terpsichore is not terpsikory (?) but Terpsikore, and Melpomene is MEL po mean. Gawd, which others? LOL!
btw — that is always why LA has no comity with other states for the bar.
angienc–sounds as lovely as my Belgian friend married to an Italian-American from Queens. Imagine French mixed with hardcore New Yawk.
kjmontana, that was outrageous, thanks.
I think my psychiatrist once prescribed me Terpsichore and Melpomene. The side effects were a doozy.
Fredster — Calliope is Cali-ope LOL
angienc, I agree. Common law is a mess. It’s much better under civil law because the current laws are systematically organized in one place.
Women with Boston, NY, NJ and/or Philly accents make me cringe.
Women with southern, french and/or spanish accents make me melt.
ugsome, it was on the last thread. Someone from Gallup discussed it on TV, apparently.
Oh Gawd! How could I forget Call i ope with da projects?
I agree about Napoleonic code but man it could sure cause a mess when filing succession…
Seriously, sounds like everyone is sick to death of this election and wants it to be over.
Gawd, why can’t we just pass a law limiting our elections to six weeks or something, like sane, normal nations.
t-r-o-l-l triggers Spammy the Moderator for some reason.
Battlecat — exactly. Now that I’m practicing common law in NC I get a headache every time I have to research something it’s like looking or a needle in a haystack! I should have a code article as my starting point! That’s why I only do bankruptcy law now — the federal bk system has a CODE like it should!
Now Angie, you *know* you could make more as an attorney back in Louisiana. You just have to do away with that thing called “ethics”!
California law is weird.
Our statutory code was originally New York’s, word for word (brought here during the Gold Rush)
We follow common law on most things, but we also grabbed up some Spanish/Mexican law, particularly regarding water.
Back east (and in England) water is only a problem when there is too much, so all the law concerns flooding your neighbor’s property and stuff like that.
Out here the issue is scarcity, so the first guy upstream can’t take it all and let everyone else go thirsty.
hmmm. I was called a troll this week on another blog–twice–I think it was the obots, and dealt with it, but then on another (non-political ) blog I suggested someone else was a troll–much to the unhappiness of the admin. So is there any consensus about the meaning? To me it was a politer word than the one I was thinking of, but maybe the meaning is stronger than I thought in some quarters?
Women with Boston, NY, NJ and/or Philly accents make me cringe.
Uh-oh… there’s lots of that Jersey type of accent in nola.
true Fredster — but I think that applies to just about any job in LA — it isn’t that they have no “ethics” it is that they have their own code of ethics — like Pirates.
California lawyers don’t have ethics.
We have “professional responsibility”
oops, I see, I just posted without the zeros and triggered it
hmmm. I was called a tr0ll this week on another blog–twice–I think it was the obots, and dealt with it, but then on another (non-political ) blog I suggested someone else was a tr0ll–much to the unhappiness of the admin. So is there any consensus about the meaning? To me it was a politer word than the one I was thinking of, but maybe the meaning is stronger than I thought in some quarters?
I don’t have a Jersey type accent. I have a southern one.
myiq2xu, the difference in riparian rights has to do with the abundance of land in the western states, where water use is generally allocated based on who was using it first. In the smaller eastern states, everyone adjacent to the water generally has the right to reasonable use.
I have a delightful Midwestern twang. So does ze French boyfriend, who spent a few years of his childhood about two miles from my house (though I didn’t know him then.)
kjmontana — I forgot to tell you how great that joke was. I’m going to send it to my dad & brother — they are engineers & love engineering jokes plus they are both Republicans, so they will really get a kick out of it.
Angie: LOL! So true.
You should have seen the lege almost howling at what Jindal proposed for ethics reform. It got watered down, but still better than it was. And it’s a LOT better than it was when Sammy Nunez was in the state Senate chamber walking to each Senator handing out “contributions” from a lobbyist!
myiq: is professional responsibility of a higher caliber than just plain old ethics?
ugsome — isn’t that great when you meet someone and find out something serendipitous like that?
This website needs a chatroom.
I wonder how doctors feel about working on web programmers. “Looks pretty on the outside, but an ungodly mess of bubble gum and baling wire on the inside.”
nijima:
I consider anyone who comes here to pick fights or insult me and/or the regulars a t-r-o-l-l
I have no problem with people who disagree with me, as long as they’re polite about it.
Okay I’m in moderation for some reason and it’s not the R word.
Battlecat — we don’t need no stinkin’ chatroom — we are doing fine here since there are only about 5 of us awake right now. LOL
Oh yes. But then our stories are full of such serendipity. His hometown in France is the same town where my father spent two years of his childhood. He spent a few years of his adolescence in Chicago (where I met him); his piano teacher was a friend of my dad’s. Years later we met up again and lo! we do the same thing for a living. Freeky.
Fredster — there are some other words that trigger moderation too. tr0ll is one & so is v@gina, but I don’t know the entire list.
myiq2xu: my candidate rules, your candidate drools! Put up yer dukes!
How’s that for a tr011 impersonation?
ugsome — it sounds like you two were meant to be! I’m happy for you.
angienc: Ooog, now i’m visualizing a tr0ll’s v@gina. YUCK
I have been cussed out in Spanish by an old girlfriend (or two, maybe three) and it’s much more pleasant than getting cussed out in English
angienc: wish my husband felt the same way LOL
Hillary supporters go to mars to eat candy bars. Obots go to jupiter to get more stupider!
LOL ugsome!
T-r-o-l-l-s don’t have sexual organs.
Well, the male ones have very small ones, but basically
myiq — I can cuss you out in Greek & French, if you want to try something new.
didn’t use either one of those. Was talking about ethics LA style and the state Senate and l@bbyists. (that word maybe?)
and yes I agree! we need a chat room!!
Out here the issue is scarcity, so the first guy upstream can’t take it all and let everyone else go thirsty.
That’s exactly what can happen in the middle east.
For example, Syria has tons of small dams in little bitty villages and by the time the water gets to Jordan, half of it is gone. Jordan is using up its sweet aquifers–even more now that there are so many Iraqi refugees–and the more briny ones are slowly leaching into them. There were plans for a dam along the Syria/Jordan border for hydroelectric power, but there isn’t really enough water for it now. And Syria has its own problems with Turkey taking out water upstream.
Well, the male ones have very small ones, but basically
You mean a wee- weenie?
I am an expert an Hungarian cussing myself.
A Hungarian cussing out sounds downright scary to me.
If the female t-r-o-l-l-s had vajayjays of matching size that might be interesting, despite their lack of hygiene
How do tr0lls reproduce myiq? are they like turdblossoms — growing out of pile of excrement?
Um, it wasn’t cussing I was I was thinking of
myiq2xu, on October 12th, 2008 at 2:56 am
Ewwww!
angienc, it should, when crossed Hungarians ain’t shy. They’ve been settled for a thousand years but still have a bit of that fierce nomadic steppe mentality.
don’t tease me myiq!
They reproduce like all bacteria – fission
I’m a pleaser, not a teaser
I’m still waiting for you & Capt. Spaulding to knock on my door to “examine” my kidneys.
a quick Google Image search on tr011s reveals that they have no organs.
The captain usually prefers to enter without knocking.
He’s pretty informal
Nijima, it seems like at most sites tr0lls enjoy using the “get defensive and position self as free speech martyr” ploy as an excuse to keep tr0lling after they’ve been told to stop. They’re still getting all the attention and disrupting the site with the ensuing long discussion of tr0ll rights and the first amendment. If it weren’t for that, i dn’t think they’d care so much about their reputations.
and/or the regulars
That was it, then.
One of the regulars (I’m a newbie there) was talking a bit too much about “panties” and I got uncomfortable and said tmi and someone else said creepy, but he didn’t chill–maybe since English not his first language. So now whose free speech is being curtailed I can’t keep track of. I’m not sure which is worse, panties or tr0lls.
btw — I took a siesta this afternoon (usual for me on weekends) but I overslept & now I can’t sleep — I think I will just stay awake and go to be early tonight to not mess myself up for Monday.
myiq — see, the Capt. always struck me as old-fashioned. I should have said “show up at my door” though.
angienc, let’s stay up and drink then. I am writing software tests, b-o-r-i-n-g, and could use the company.
Okay WP doesn’t like me putting the link or a URL so I’ll try an anchor tag which I’m not good at.
Check this out
anglachel had it on her site and I cracked up.
Have you seen it ugsome?
Seriously — that is the funny thing about Obot tr0lls though — they use “free speech” as a weapon — it is ok as long as it is not used to express any criticism of Obama.
ugsome — fine by me!
angienc, what are you drinking? I’m having a Zombie Voter–kool-aid and vodka.
Fredster — I tried your link but it told me “url not found”
We have a large immigrant population here where I am, most of it from Mexico.
They bring interesting customs and cultural practices, some of which are not legal here.
Cockfighting is one such custom, and merely attending one is a crime.
If you go to San Francisco you can watch a cockfight legally, but it’s not the same thing.
Drag racing is different too.
The Website is Down—-ooooh yes I’ve seen it, it reminds me of all the BOFH (Bastard Operator from Hell) stories I’ve heard over the years.
angienc: google The Website is Down
in fact I think the url is thewebsiteisdown.com
ugsome — I’ll have to try one of those. For now I’ve only got my usual vodka & cranberry.
Eh! still didn’t come out clean!
Panties I like. T-r-o-l-l-s not so much.
Mopny Python once did a “drag” racing sketch with pink feather boas,
that’s it ugsome. WP wouldn’t let me paste in the URL or even tiny url. And I always screw up anchor tags. I just need to sit down an memorize it.
Ugsome: I worked in the Network/Operations Control Center for a fed agency. We’d get the internal/external calls that the website was down. Soooo, we could not restart it ourselves but had to call (page) a contract tech with L.M. who went into the machine room into a smaller room, sat at a keyboard and restarted it. Duh! I finally got one of them to show me how to do it cuz it was taking too long for the customers!!
They act like having a comment deleted is the equivalent of being kidnapped and thrown out of an airplane. I’ve had comments deleted from plenty of places where I wasn’t trolling and don’t really understand why I was zapped (I suspect boredom on the part of the comment approver), but whatever, comments exist at the discretion of the mangement, people can do whatever they want with their own sites. God knows if I had a website I would automatically delete anything that said “I know this will never be posted,” or “I know you’re going to delete this, but.” the two most frequently read phrases on Earth.
the part if website is down that I love is when webdude remote controls sales guys pc and you see his desktop! Too funny!!
Fredster: oy! Ah, who needs automation when you’ve got BOFHs?!?
The guy is in Asia somewhere, first language French, and suddenly got embarrassed, so no salacious intentions apparently, (or possibly quickly forgot them once outed?). Would you want your sister talking about panties with a stranger halfway around the globe?
Oooh, I forgot to drink, let me go see what I’ve got.

Fredster: “There is no ‘arrange by pen1s’”
Pilsner Urquell, a lovely little Czech brew.
I’ve seen that before and it’s a scream. The guy doesn’t seem to get it that it’s a screenshot and not real icons. Wonder if those were actors.
Ok — I just watched the web site is down. It was hilarious– thanks. (even though I am the opposite of the web dude, that is exactly what I think the web dudes are doing all day!)
myiq — cockfighting is actually legal in LA (or was when I lived there). I’ve never been to one, but I think they should be illegal — it is a very cruel “sport.”
Seriously, if they deleted your comment it probably didn’t match up with their hidden agenda. Like for instance if they were one of the 400 paid Obot bloggers but had signed an a non-disclosure agreement.
ugsome/angie/nijma, some of the things I saw when remoting a user was hysterical! Nothing like sex with vegetables but they’re having issues, they call and you remote and see some crap on there and ask “What’s this doing on here?” “Uh, I need that.” “No you don’t.” And then deleting. Then goes the email to the users security guys and say “see ticket #”. Tighten the user’s permissions.
And Angie, yeah! That’s why I had the contractor web dudes show me how to to basically restart those servers! They took too long!
Angie, they finally passed a law that banned cockfighting in Louisiana.
However, it’s my understanding that it’s still going on in the Quarter, say, around Bourbon and St. Ann!
Fredster — I can only imagine all the insane sh!t you’ve seen — I just don’t understand how people can do those kinds of things on their work computers — don’t they have any sense? It is one thing to be goofing off at work (or as I like to say taking an “in office vacation day”) but it is another to leave evidence of it!
Fredster — LMAO — for those who don’t get Fredster’s joke, Bourbon & St. Ann is were all the gay bars are! LOL
Fredster — I think we are the only two left on here.
Oh hey! We had one situation where they went out to a user and literally went to his desk unannounced and security pulled him away from the desk, shut down the pc and took it with them. The idiot had some *nasty* porn on there. He worked flex hours and thought when no one was around he wouldn’t be caught! Duh!!
Fredster — porn at work — I’ve heard about that & those people must really have problems — can’t they go without porn for a few hours? Jeez!
Why on earth do people put pr0n on work computers? How dumb can people be?
So Fredster — are you a NOLA native? What high school did you go to?
ooh! ugsome is here too! There are the three of us then!
Angie:
You missed my joke too
ugsome — I agree — can’t they go without it for a few hours? I think they are sick.
so do I owe an apology to anyone for the panty/tr0ll thing? It creeped me out, but I’ don’t want to p.o. admin, they seem like nice people.
myiq — what joke? about panties?
Porn should be viewed in the privacy of one’s own cubical
LOL! Did ugsome have too many vods? or did I go off on a rant?
I’m somewhat giddy because my parent and I finally have an apt lined up back in St. Benawd and hopefully within a few weeks are going home! It’s been redone completely and because the woman when thru Road Home small renters program it’s like rent control. We’re getting a 3 bed/1 bath (I hate that) for like $635/mo. Everything else I looked at was 800-900/mo or higher and then there was a problem with pets. She doesn’t care about our attack mini-doxie because the apt has ceramic floors. So we’re on our way home soon! Roast beef and shrimp po-boys and fried oysters, red beans and rice! We missed creole tomatoes, but…
Anyway, I’m somewhat giddy!
I would never joke about panties!
Fredster — you are making me hungry! btw — did you mean partner or parent?
myiq — I would hope not — that is why I asked what joke did I mean — I took your comment about panties seriously, and mentally went through the ones in my drawer to decide if they would meet your standards.
San Francisco/ cockfight
I think that was supposed to be the joke?
Fredster, do you know how they caught the porn? In the student lab, you can look at browsing history.
Angie, no we’re not native ‘yats. My father was career Army and was stationed in nola and that’s where he met my mom. My two 1/2 bros were there and we traveled around as Army folks do. When Dad retired we went to his home town in KY, but after a few years mom wanted to go back to nola because that’s where the grandkids were. There was also the fact that one night my dad almost got shot because he looked like a guy who had put a hit on his wife (nasty divorce-he owned coal mines) so mom wanted to relocate…
So we relocated to St. Benawd in the 70′s and stayed there. That and nola were home for longer than anywhere else we lived so i consider myself a native. I consider myself so much a native of nola that I know what the brown bag thing means with the debs in the Original Illinois Club so you know I’ve been there awhile.

Fredster — porn at work — I’ve heard about that & those people must really have problems — can’t they go without porn for a few hours? Jeez!
Well just imagine the poor cleaning crew, ya know!!
Well Fredster, growing up in NOLA myself, anyone who loves it as much as you do is definitely a native imo.
There are so many things I miss about NOLA, but #1 is the food — people here in NC don’t even know they are supposed to eat red beans & rice on Mondays!
Mentally going through your drawers?
Now you’re teasing me
btw — are you not living in NOLA now? or are you just moving back to the Parish?
myiq — that’s not a tease, it’s a bona fide offer LOL
That was my point about the panties, if someone talks about panties online, is it an automatic tease?
Nijma — I think it depends on the context.
“mentally went through the ones in my drawer to decide if they would meet your standards.”
LOL! Let’s say in theory, you guys were to meet and myiq looked exactly like his gravatar. I know you love him for his mind but we all want to know….should we ride out the financial crisis by buying stock in brown paper bags?
Seriously — I love myiq for his mind & because he makes me laugh. It would not matter to me if he looks like a tr0ll in real life. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it!
N, if it made you uncomfortable, then you’re entitled to bring it up imo. I don’t think you need to apologize, but if you’re worried can you like contact the admin privately and ask them if they’re upset?
I believe you angie.
It depends on the panties
And honestly, if it made you uncomfortable, there were probably other people who were also uncomfortable but were afraid to say anything.
myiq — lol — see what I mean? how can anyone not love myiq?
I love Kentucky Fried Chicken, but the stuff is so horrible for you that I probably don’t eat it more than two or three times a year.
I like Swanson turkey dinners a lot too.

Fredster — you are making me hungry! btw — did you mean partner or parent?
Nah, I meant parent. My dad passed away and I (laughing but not meaning to be bad) inherited my mom. She’s been a trooper thru all of this; don’t know if I could have done it with health problems. Two kinda interesting things about being in B’ham Al…I found her an internist and when we started going to him found out his son is currently going to Tulane Med School. At another time mom had severe problems with leg edema and developed weeping sores on her legs. They referred us to a local hospital’s wound care dept. and it turned out that Dr. Carraway went to LSU Medical School. His family founded the first hospital in B’ham. So when we went to see him, the nurses come in, take photos, then an intern and resident come in for histories and then Dr. Carraway comes in. When he found out we were from LA and he told us about him, I asked him if he ever worked the E.R. at Charity. We talked about Big Charity in its hey-day. One of the “kids” asked about the E.R. and I remarked it was the level-one e.r. Dr. Carraway looked at the kid and said “Son, where do you think I learned to sew?” And you haveta admit, that’s where they learn a lot.
Anyway, we ended up with two great nola connections.
I agree with Seriously — N — if you were uncomfortable it probably was over the line.
Fredster — aw you taking care of your mama like that! you are so sweet — and definitely a NOLA native!
Angie seems determined to prove I’m all talk
Ah yes, angienc, context is everything, but if the context is ambiguous…
I have to say the drawer comment wasn’t too ambiguous. I wonder if myiq gets a lot of “friendliness” from his gravatar? or from his nom de plume? I admit to being intrigued in a remote what-if-i-were-younger sort of way. I have to feel a little warmer to anyone so outrageous who can make me laugh so much.
My beer is stale and my nap is wearing off. Tootle-doo and thinks for the panty/tr0ll advice.
I don’t like the turkey part, but that whatever-the-hell-it-is dessert thing is great. If only they would pair that with the fried chicken.
I thought I was a nightowl, but it’s gotta be almost morning in NC
Speaking of fried chicken — once when I went to L.A. (the city, not Louisiana) I went to a restaurant that was allegedly southern cooking. I ordered the fried chicken & asked for dark meat (which is my fav) the waiter informed me that they only served boneless, skinless breasts. I looked at him with incredulity and said “and you say this is fried chicken?” and a woman sitting at the table next to us who couldn’t mind her own business said “I’m from NYC and trust me, it is the best fried chicken in the world” and I said: “I’m from NOLA, and I will tell you if it is the best fried chicken in the world.” So, I had it and it was good but it wasn’t fried chicken — it was paneed chicken breast. The best fried chicken in the world is still the fried chicken at Brother’s gas station in Kenner.
Nimja. network admins can set “flags” that alert them as to when people go to no-no sites.
myiq — it is 4:12 a.m. in NC — I took an extra long siesta today (well, yesterday) and decided to just stay up so I can get back on track for Monday.
myiq — my bravado with you is based on the assumption that you are all talk!

Long distance and bad lighting both make me seem more attractive.
myiq — you shouldn’t be so modest — it is the distance, bad lighting & your quick wit.
Wow!
You embarrassed the Captain even – he went and hid
Either that or he’s going through your panty drawer
how did I say something that embarrassed the Captain?
It was probably oven fried.
ok — I get it — you are joking because your gravatar is doing something wacky — sorry.
Seriously — whatever it was — it was NOT fried chicken!

Well, what the hell can you do? It’s one reason I lost my Fed job, or resigned it. You can’t abandon them at that age! And besides..she has all the money…! That’s not it, but it helps!
I’ll have to worry about me dying alone. My mom shouldn’t have to worry about such things. She’s 83, she survived the Great Depression (#1) and it’s not fair to inflict a buncha crap on old people! That’s where I come in… I can be the firewall.
And on that note I bid everyone adieu.
I dunno, he was here and then . . .
That’s why the people in L.A. are so thin — they food sucks — no fat, no butter, no cabs. yuck. If I lived there I wouldn’t eat either.
“it is the distance, bad lighting & your quick wit.”
LOL
Good night Fredster!
that should have been “no carbs” btw — if anyone is paying attention.
They’re supposed to have good sushi, though. I like sushi, but I want cheese and bacon with it.
Night
The sushi in L.A. is great — but I know what you mean — not satisfying.
Night Seriously!
I will be the only one left here soon.
I better call it a night before I get myself in trouble.
I’ll be dreaming of panties and fried chicken
That sounds way more perverted than I intended
Thanks, angienc and Seriously, maybe the guy really was tr0lling. I should listen to my spider sense and not let the boiz talk me out of it.
I have done everything to explain my discomfort on the thread and the guy in question has backpeddled so maybe I should stop worrying and drop it. Use the explanation of language barrier so no hard feelings. It could be true. Someone else there DID use the c-word today and one of the non-English speakers repeated it. I left a little link to Riverdaughter’s excellent piece about the r-word and the c-word!
Fredster, Ah, flags. One of the things I tell my students is if they see something bad to use the back arrow and go out of the site right away. It’s part of the internet safety thing. One thing the GED class has been doing (not my students) is looking at gang-related youtubes. They start out with a shot of a street marker (gang turf?)and sometimes have a video of someone who has recently died.
good night myiq! I’m going to log off too, take a shower & start preparing for the day.
Actually — I’m going to watch the sunrise! There is nothing better then watching the sunrise after being up all night.
It’s 430. trust me, the day can’t begin when you’re the only one awake for 100 miles.

I’ll be at the mosque later this morning for a belated Eid potluck. I guess I’m the token Christian for religious tolerance in this neck of the woods. It’s going to be pita bread, and lots of hummos and probably a lot of incredible home cooking. I just guessing there won’t be pork chops. It’s only 4 am here but I’d better catch another nap…
“guessing there won’t be pork chops”
I once got into a dispute with a Muslim over whether Canadian bacon is real bacon. LOL It’s like while I respect your opinion in all other matters–you’ve never tasted pork of any kind! What do you know of bacon?
Nijma, i love middle eastern food – sounds like fun, which part of the US are you
Chicago, my Hispanic student can really cook too, so I can go from one religious holiday to another . Guadalupe is good for pozole here–and that DOES have pork in it.
vivienne, do you happen to get the Daily Mail? They’re saying there’s some fuss now over Palin being accused of having tattooed eyeliner–are they being ironic?

Watching the Fox Report!
Even Bill Clinton is laying the blame on the Democrats.
2005 Republicans tried to pass a bill to restrict and regulate F&F – all Repubs voted for it while all Dems voted against it.
Then McCain tried to pass his regulation and Repubs voted for and Demos against – led by Dodd and Schumer.
BUSH bashing on this one is inaccurate and will cause McCain the election, and then we will have the morons that did this while on the “Take” will be in charge.

Good morning all — I’m showered and all nice and fresh — going to watch the sun rise soon.
Carol — not only is the property only accessible through BO’s property, once Rezko “sold” that strip to BO it rendered the rest of the lot too small for construction of another house — that is, the lot is useless now.
Yep, Rezko it for Obama plain & simple.

BREAKING: Word in Chicago: Patrick Fitzgerald heading RICO investigation of ACORN and BHO campaign
Posted on Thursday, October 09, 2008 1:40:53 AM by Anti-Hillary
Tonight we talked to someone who works in the federal courts here in Chicago.
The buzz in those corridors is that federal prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald has been leading a team of FBI investigators in 10 states working on a RICO case.
Today, it was announced that ACORN is being investigated in 10 states.
That’s one heck of a coincidence.
We asked why Fitzgerald would be involved in this, because he’s the prosecutor on the Tony Rezko case and we aren’t aware of ACORN being investigated in Illinois.
We were told that ACORN was investigated in Illinois years ago, and it was a Fitzgerald case then. This means ACORN’s activities today, involving a conspiracy to commit multi-state voter fraud on SoetorObama’s behalf, are an extension of that previous ACORN case.
Our source in federal courts said, “Any crime that involves more than two people and is carried out across state lines qualifies as a corrupt organization. The fact that those “Goodwill” donations were made in Texas and received at Obama headquarters in Chicago or Washington means it qualifies for RICO.”
The “Goodwill donations” referred to above are the $228 million in undocumented, unverified campaign contributions the Obama camp has received — which the McCain campaigned filed a complaint to the FEC on this past Monday.
We’ve also heard that the Clinton campaign filed complaints to the FBI and other federal agencies over Obama’s fraud in the Iowa, Texas and other caucuses: voter intimidation, registration fraud, and other illegal activities.
The last thing we were told tonight in regards to all of this was that “the memo here is a tying together of all these various threads. That’s what you will see in the last weeks of the campaign: all things being tied together”.
If everything rumored here is true, it looks like David Axelrod, Howard Dean, Donna Brazile, Obama himself, and possibly even Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid were all involved, together, in massive RICO violations, and thus federal fraud, if the DNC and party leadership knew what the Obama campaign and ACORN were up to and allowed it to proceed. Knowledge of federal crimes being committed makes all parties accessories to those crimes — and part of the conspiracy to defraud the public.
Wow, Carol. I’m going to Google this so that it can be one of Google’s “top stories.” We need to get this out now.
I wrote this a few months ago when Hillary was in the race but it is still relevant:
Who is this man?
Why does he not hear
the cry of the downtrodden?
Why does he not dare to take our trust
and keep it safe near his breast?
Instead we are laughed at for our honesty
for our patriotism
for ours fears of a colder world
where some are seated at the table
while others are on the floor
we want to believe in our leaders
who do not charm us with money
and fancy suits
we have had better times
when we did not feel the bitter wind
which made us wise
we cannot afford another
to put us down
in order to prop up a president
Here’s one article I found:
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/political_commentary/commentary_by_michael_barone/the_coming_obama_thugocracy
All I’m finding is that Clinton supporters are testifying and pushing this, not the Clintons.
I remember Hillary filed the first complete after Texas.
I just read on ccn ticker that John Lewis compared McCain & Palin to George Wallace! Most of the comments agree. Lord have mercy — when will this madness end? The only person who brought r@ce into this campaign was Obama.

“Angie”
Not only is the lot “useless”; but while Rezko is in jail someone is maintaining the landscaping?
Who??? that should be the “last thing on the mind of his family”.
Someone showed here a recent aerial view & there it was! Not only was it groomed perfectly; it also looked as if it was done @ the same time as Obama’s??
Who’s making the payments on the side yard of Obama’s property?
Rezko is in jail, his wife makes $35k per year?
Payment must be at least $3k per month, does someone know how to look up to see if the taxes are paid on the side property. Here in Texas if you have the address you can access any property and see the tax status………………………
Carol, PUMAs should take a collection and buy that property!
Seriously,
just back from the flower market where I had a sausage butty.
So re daily mail, that is not a paper i would actually spend money on. I goggled it and indeed there is a LIPPYGATE story. Geee-why worry abt links of a presidential candidate to Ayers, formerly known as the terrorist, if you have a VP candidate who has probably a tattoed lip-liner!! Not sure if you could face Putin with a tattoed lip-liner!!

I tried to track the sad fall of John Lewis:
http://edgeoforever.wordpress.com/2008/10/12/the-undoing-of-john-lewis/
It all reminds me of a sad movie about the Russian revolution: “Burned by the Sun”.
Thank you Carol!
I have been wondering about this stuff for some time?
Once Obama said; “It was a Bone-Head move”. The enabling MSM were just like……..”Oh OK”!
When is someone going to ask him………”Why would Rezko himself make such a “Bone-Headed move”???
There was / is no obvious gain for him in this deal. Plus they NEVER report that not only did the sale happen on the same day; but the sale HAD TO HAPPEN THAT WAY!!!
It was a PRE-CONDITION SET BY THE SELLER!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know it sounds “simplistic”; but except for some tree lined closure the “2″ properties looked the same. “If” there’s an access from Obama’s to Rezko’s & if Obama’s kids & their friends ever use it to “run-around-n-play” then that to me is grounds for saying there is STILL an on-going relationship between the “2″.
“WHOSE PAYING THE MORTGAGE & WHOSE PAYING THE LANDSCAPER”???
I believe this could be the “smoking gun” in plain site?
BTW, Is Hillary & Bill’s blocks, blocked off “24/7″ like Obama’s is??????????
“Carol”
I’m SOoooooooo Sorry I did not read your No Quarter link before I made my comments.

Now Corzine is pushing Hillary’s plan to buy mortgages like FDR, and trashing McCain’s proposal, which frankly sounded like Hillary’s plan to me..

“Burnt by the Sun” is a movie that I will never forget. I just watched “The Visitor,” another great but sad movie.
I spent all day at my sisters house where we (about 50 people total) spent the day making apple butter. It was a great diversion from the election.

Carol, I knolw when Mawm and I were house hunting you could find all of that info for our county. search the name of the county and the term “gis”…I’ll see if I can find anything.
carol, here’s the address:

Am I mistaken, or does this say that his 6000 sq ft house has an assessed value of 156,000 dollars? how is that possible?

I’d say that’s a pretty friendly assessment. I put the address in zillow.com and it says there are two units on the property. One 6,199 sq ft with a “zestimate” of $1,467,000.00, and one 1,440 sq ft for $437,500. I’m not sure where they’re getting that second house on the property from, but it’s clear that all of the houses in that neighborhood are worth well over 1 million dollars so an assessed value of $156,000.00 is pretty sweet if you are the property owner.
janicen, I’m guessing they’re putting it in 100′s of dollars, because that would be about right….
vivienne westwood — I happen to be religious which is why I think religious & politics should NOT mix. When I want religious guidance, I go to my priest, not my politician. The fact that Obama keeps pandering to the EVs, talking about the bible, & his “Christianity,” wants to expand gov. funding of faith-based initiatives etc. seriously p!ss me off.
As I am already on youtube, I came across this clip from the primaries which is a CLASSIC…asking a Dem Sen from Texas to list BO’s accomplishments…..well, mmmh, he could not list one….too funny!

Folks, I don’t think anyone is paying enough attention to ACORN that it will stick. I think McCain needs to focus on the economy and offer real solutions that BHO has not offered from now until election day. BHO is simply lucky but he has never offered a specific plan as to what he will do once in office. McCain’s camp needs to work on this NOW or he will lose. People are worried about the economy and that is why BHO has a 7 point lead in the polls right now.
No, Gary. It’s not in $100′s. That’s the real figure. However, this does not appear to be a recent development. The assessments on the property over the past 5 years are shamefully low.
2003 -2005: $132,980
2006 – $154,381
I wonder if the good people of Chicago know what the tax assessments are on millionairre’s row?
wow, unbelievable….
Also interesting, the “Historical Value Trend” on this house is shows as down 45% over the past five years, while the “Historical Value Trend” of the zip code is up 9% over the same time period, the HVT of the city is up 15.4% over the same time period; HVT of the state is up 17.2% over the same time period.
I guess it’s only the value of the mansions that has seen a substantial drop over the past 5 years. For tax purposes, of course.
gary — tax values on houses are always a lot lower then sales prices but usually not this low. For example, a house that would sell for $575k might have an assessment of $400k. The assessment on this house is so low that it looks shady to me.
yeah, that’s REALLY low…
I bought my house in June 2006. The tax code was based on my purchase price and now it is based on the purchase prices of the homes surrounding me.
MountainSage – I really like your new site!!!!!!!
You’re right, angienc. I’m starting to get pretty pixxed off, since the assessed value of the home I own right now is higher than the assessed value of the Os’ home, and I don’t have 6 or 7 (depending on which website you check) bathrooms!
Carol — I guess I should have said “usually” not “always.” In the two states I’m familiar with (LA & NC) the counties do assessments every few years and do not go by purchase prices & the tax assessments are always off from sales prices. I just did a bk with a house that the market analysis gave a price of $575k but the tax assessment (done in 2007) had the value at $399k.
It seems like you all are really on to something with this taxes stuff.
PS — and let me add, I see that all the time (tax value off by at least 20%) here in NC & in LA at least.
I must conclude that if, as Joe Biden says, it’s our patriotic duty to pay taxes, and the homeowners in O’s neighborhood are not paying their fair share of taxes, then the homeowners are not as patriotic as the rest of us!
tpt/ny — yes, gary is on to something, but what good will it do when the msm will completely ignore it — h3ll, they ignore “bigger” stories then this, so I wouldn’t count on this gaining any traction.
However we can, this needs to get to the media. If this is what he is really trying to assess the house at is ridiculous.
Gary – can you get the numbers for Ayers and Farrakhan? And, the surrounding properties? And the lot to see name on the property and tax status………
Okay, so, I’ll be signing off now. See you all later.
bye janicen
And who better to correct the tax imbalance than a state legislator
all you need is their address…I googled to find obama’s, but I’m not sure the others will be as easy to find…
tpt/ny
I believe Obama bought this property after Rezco’s conviction. Rezco’s money was confiscated after his conviction, so when Obama bought the property later–from Rezco’s wife, I think, Rezco got a badly needed cash infusion. So Obama was just using the property deal to keep some of Rezco’s money out of the hands of prosecutors for him. A huge favor. There is a Chicago Tribune article somewhere that explains it.
Lookie Lookie Lookie what I found the lot address is
5050 S. Greenwood Ave.
Obama mows the yard. More:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/us_elections/article3433485.ece
gary – can you link what I just tried to post?
I’m not sure about Chicago’s property taxes , but in some place the evaluations have to be frozen for a certain length of time to protect pepole on fixed income from having their property values muchroom due to market changes, while their income is fixed. Chicago just raised property taxes, some people moved or sold properties a year ago–I got a rent increase.
does anyone understand this?
in chicago the assess property value at 10% of market value???
carol I just released your comment
If there is a scam there it seems it would be who gets the %25 reduction and who gets the %10. We see that Obama got the reduction to %10.
I don’t think it is a reduction. it is assessed at 10% of its value…that’s why I thought it was in 100′s of dollars.
Afternoon, all. New post up!!!!
rumors and “anti-Hillary” do not bode well for that story to be true.
Rumors are flying around because we have no info on what Patrick Fitzgerald is doing. Nor any info on the
progress of the FBI investigation into ACORN.
“Several Republican attendees complained of the protesters’ vulgarity, especially in light of recent criticism of the behavior of people at McCain-Palin rallies.
Outside on Broad Street, waiting for Palin to leave, one man was heard saying: “Let’s stone her, old school.”
Another protester shouted at someone entering the hotel, “Wait till your daughter wants an abortion, you hypocrite.”
They are hooligans,” said Bucks County restaurateur and McCain supporter Andrew Abruzzese, after he flashed a peace sign at protesters, who responded with raised middle fingers.”
This is from the Phila Inquirer today re: a fundraiser in town with Palin. No surprise to people on this thread!
Still, it upset me because Obama supporters are nasty, really nasty, all the time and he NEVER calls them on it. I think he encourages it. But McCain’s people (person? – one person?) gets a big deal made of it! The next day! after that, O’s people are at it again!
This is what they did in the Primary. Fortunately Palin seems to be made of pretty stern stuff. But, I am sick and tired of the game, the double standard, the MSM telling me that black is white, up is down.
btw, please tell me WHEN they will get tired of calling everyone a racist???!!!!
Can you find the value of the lot and if the taxes are paid?

Well, nomobama, all I can say is – IT’s ABOUT TIME!
This could make a real difference
We were at a wedding in PA this weekend and stayed in a Marriott – I rarely watch the TV and never in the AM but when we got up my hubby turned it on and there was the story about how poor little BO may not win because we’re still so r*c*st in the US. I looked at my husband and said, well – there it is – I was wondering when they were going to try to guilt us into voting for him
Now, I’m an Italian Catholic mother so I know guilt – in fact, the only ones I know better at laying guilt are my Jewish girlfriends. So here they are starting a significant piece of the campaign seems to be faultering.
And if you have any doubts about how precisely planned out this entire campaign has been go to the books The End of America by Naomi Wolf all 10 steps of how to overthrow a government are in there – I particularly liked chapter nine: Restrict the Press
I am heartened by the link that nomobama has given us – mentioned above – perhaps people will start listening.

Once we figure out the truth / we’ll find a way to get it out.
“Carol” WOW, Thank You!
On Weds. night the NYC/LI-NY & hopefully Northern NJ PUMA’s
are working on a Debate Watching Party. The key is it will be held @ a hotel bar, just down the street from Hofstra U. We have already invited media & there’s some local Republicans I can contact as well. If there’s anything going on for McCain they would know. Obama supposedly has a rally set in that very area, hours before the debate. The local media is called,
“Channel 12 News”. Think, what a good contrast our PUMA
gathering would be?
“LOOK THEY DO HAVE PULSES”!
I promise that if we really figure something out; I won’t rest until it gets covered.
