It is ok to be sexist as long as you pretend not to be racist.

McClatchy has an article today suggesting that if Missouri goes to the Republicans this year it will be because of racism. Never mind the fact that Missouri has gone Republican in the last two elections. They are determined to make this all about race, just as they did in the primaries.  I am shocked that more people in the African American and civil rights communities aren’t outraged at having this issue used as a tool to elect a fraud to the White House solely based on the color of his skin.  Because when it comes to the content of his character, he doesn’t have a shred of it.

Four years ago, one yard in a working-class Kansas City suburb sported a “Kerry” sign bigger than a bed mattress.

But this season there’s no “Obama” sign there of any size, not even throw-pillow dimension.

“It’s the ‘B-L-A-C-K’ issue,” a neighbor explained. “You hear it everywhere.”

But it hardly has to be spelled out for most of us that race has been injected into presidential politics in unprecedented ways.

And who injected it into the race?  That would be Obama himself, and his lackeys in the corporate, lying media, who care as much about race relations as they do about telling the truth.  That would be not at all.  See, they only cry bigotry when it suits their interests.  And their interest is to have a sock puppet in the white house.  If they truly cared about bigotry and hatred they would recognize the rampant sexism that has gone on this election season. They might even write articles contemplating that Obama might win in a given state because the voters don’t want to elect a W-O-M-A-N to the vice-presidency.  Instead they engage in some of the most vile, hate-filled attacks on women you can imagine.  If you don’t believe me, take a look at these editorial cartoons.  The media, while it falls all over itself to see tinges of racism, openly engages in the worst kinds of misogyny.  I found sixty cartoons about Palin at this site and not one of them was positive.  Here is a sample:

Not only that, they paint HER as the anti-feminist sexist, and to prove beyond a doubt that they are complete scumbags, they pile onto her teenage daughter as well.

If anyone dared draw a picture of Obama in such a condescending and thoroughly dismissive way just because of his race, I’d be the first to cry foul.  So why can they do it to a woman?

So here’s the deal the media is trying to sell you:  If Obama loses it will be YOUR fault because YOU are a racist.  If McCain/Palin lose, the fact that they used the most vile and misogynistic tactics against her is fair game because, well, you know she’s a stupid girl.

30% is all we need to stop this nonsense.

  1. whereas Hillary was “the bitch” , Palin is “the bimbo”….disgusting.

  2. Palin must be drawing real blood with this reaction. Go Sarah.

  3. What an awesome post! Thanks, Gary!

“Any woman, just not this woman” has been used once too often in this election cycle.

    We won’t get fooled again!

    PUMA POWER!!!!

  4. With my customary good timing, posted this on the previous thread a moment before it headed for the archives:

Just came up with a descriptor for the deadly Bot contagion: Obotulism.

It’s spread by canned ‘news’ and leads to paralysis of critical thinking faculties.

  5. There sure is truly offensive “stuff” out there disguised as journalism. The more things “change”, the more things stay the same. Primary redux.

  6. AMEN!

    AMEN!

    AMEN!

Gary – love you. These political cartoons are terrible and OF COURSE there would’ve been protest marches already had there been a shred of racial tinges.

Yet when it comes to sexism, only PUMAs are making the case.

  7. Kat5 – LOL! That is awesome.

  8. The whole friggin MSM suffers from Obotulism.

  10. You know what’s really sad? Gary, a man, understands what millions of women who call themselves feminists don’t. SEXISM AND MISOGYNY ARE UGLY AND WRONG. Period.

  11. Personally I am shocked, SHOCKED that Obama isn’t connecting with bitter, r*cist, bible-clutching, gun-toting xenophobes in Missouri.

I mean, no one knows what he REALLY thinks of the working class, right? Or what his pastor, his wife, or his pet domestic terrorist think of America?

  12. Obotulism – LOLIII I love it!!!

  14. JulieS9164 – It’s amazing and horrible, isn’t it? They are so indoctrinated against standing up for themselves that they can’t even acknowledge that they’ve been terribly wronged this election cycle.

  15. Carol – Jesus Christ on a cracker.

So much for the bailout helping the credit crisis. I guess Wall Street is not buying it either.

  16. my 401k is history… yikes

  17. I wish you guys would just give Obama a break for heaven’s sake! He is now telling us he did not know Ayers that well and had no idea of his past connections to terrorism. Now I know you all called him out when the poor thing had to admit that Rev. Wright was “not the person I knew” and the same for Tony Rezko. Is he supposed to be held responsible for every person whom he has crossed paths with in a lifetime?

I don’t know about you guys. You seem to have lost your bearings lately. Just because Obama has walked around for the last 47 years with his head up his own ass does not make him a bad person when it comes to his judgment. I know because Roland Martin just gave me the lowdown.

If this is Obama’s new story and he is sticking to it this is good enough for me. I am laying the fault right at the stiletto shod feet of Sarah Palin who has no business whatsoever in this election. As I said before I poured myself another glass of Kool Aid, you are actively engaged in pulling down The One Who We All Have Been Waiting For!

All I needed was a little fresh air to clear my head. This man is our “gift from God” so says Nancy Pelosi and when was the last time she ever led us astray?

  18. Yikes BPD!!!! So, so sorry…

  19. It’s the international markets. They are increasing the value of the dollar, but there are not going to be any dollars. It’s not a wall street problem it is a credit crisis. No money being lent.

Sarah coming up in a minute.

  21. Pat J – LOL!!! Your Obot imitation is almost as good as your portrayal of Nancy Pelosi!!!

  22. Madamab,

    Shouldn’t that be:

“No one has done more for bitter, r*cist, bible-clutching, gun-toting xenophobes in Missouri, than Obama.”

  23. Yup. They can use every misogynist stereotype in the world about the woman candidate – bimbo, airhead beauty queen, Barbie, and it’s fine.

But if anyone printed anything portraying Obama as being the “step and fetch-it boy” for Nancy and Teddy? If they portrayed him in a big pimp hat with feathers and platform shoes? OMG, the horror! (And rightly so).

Women get no protection by society from the hateful stereotypes directed at them, even when those stereotypes are just as wrong and ugly as any based on r@ce. Woman is the n@gger of the world.

  27. This so called bail out is beginning to stink to high heavens. But no, we failed to listen to the economists who warned of this, and pushed it through at whatever political cost that could be mustered. What a travesty. Not one member of congress has enough credibility to be taken seriously. Let’s just continue to empty the coffers, no questions asked. And for those they do, you are nothing but ra*cists.

The Bush Legacy will live on into infamy.

  28. Bill Burton doesn’t know the definition of “exonerated” – a word that the Obama campaign will never know.

  29. Carol – people here in Charlotte (home of Wachovia) are holding their breath. WF and GC are said to be in forced negotiations and possibly will carve up Wachovia.

  30. the thing that kills me about the missouri story is that Obama is closer to McCain than Kerry ever was to bush there. wouldn’t that indicate that his race is actually HELPING him? I know that’s bs, but using their logic, that should be the conclusion…instead they use anecdotal “evidence” from one person on the street. the only dem to pick up MO since Carter? Clinton.

  31. Front page article in yesterday’s paper. Total message was if you are white and a Missourian and you don’t vote for Obama you are a racist. Why they used three pages of news print to convey just that the is beyond me. Of course, the fact that @ 90% of Missouri African Americans are voting for him didn’t warrant such a comment.

    madamb-

Obama is allowed to think and act anyway he chooses with the total cover of the media. My husband’s family has lived in MO for a hundred years and they do not take kindly to being mocked for their way of life. Outside of KC and St.Louis Missouri is very rural. Hillary won 110 counties to 4 for Obama. Still Obama squeaked by because of depressed turnout due to horrible weather in southern Missouri.McCain will have to maximize turnout outside of the cities if he is to take MO. I believe he can but the media is laying on thick the inevitability thing now just like they did to Hillary in the later primaries.

At least she offers to bring a sense of decency to this hallowed halls of horrors known as the US Congress. I am royally pissed today. Can you tell?

  39. FLVoter – LOL! And indeed, no one has done more for half voters than Barack Obama either!

Gary – “Some people say” journalism at its finest.

  42. WMCB:

  43. The cartoon are what I would call liberal Karl Rovism, liberal Lee Atwaterism and liberal Willie Hortonism. Markos of DK talked about how he envies Karl Rove.

At least the real Lee Atwater apologized for what he did before he died; that’s more than I expect from certain of his modern day imitators.

  44. JohninCA — Atwater knew what he was doing was wrong, even as he did it. Markos, et al have no such self-awareness.

  51. I am trying real hard to ignore the polls. Sarah and Johnny have some real work to do. I hope it is not too late. They have to show the connections between Obama, Acorn, DEMS and this finanical mess. Yesterday.

  52. This is one reason why I usually stand with Mawm’s observations. Most of the time I share the same thoughts. I may not be covered in educational trophies but I can smell bullshit when it is dumped on my doorstep. No matter how prettily wrapped, bullshit is bullshit when the lid is taken off.

  53. Calm down everyone. Tomorrow will be a buy day and maybe starting this afternoon.

  55. Mawm — I read that Wall Street was rejecting the bail out because there was too many “restrictions,” so doesn’t that mean we don’t give them the $750k?
And for the record — I was the one telling Charles, Wig Wag & masslib that all the bail out would do is add $750k to the taxpayers tab, who were still going to end up getting scr*wed. Now that it is officially f*cked, does Obama still get the “credit?” ha ha ha

  79. madamab — I thought you would like it — it was a collective effort put together yesterday — Palin said the thing about the high heel & when someone p!sses me off, I always put on my reddest lipstick & highest heels before I go tell them off. sm77 added the pantsuit.

mawm — it might not be true about Wall Street rejecting the bailout — that is just the “word on the street” at the bankruptcy court — the companies don’t like the restrictions on how they can spend the money (i.e., no golden parachutes, etc) so they are turning it down. I bet any amount of money that the “crisis” today is to make Congress give them the $ with no strings attached. Book it.

  82. catarina, I rescued your comment…it’s not my posts, promise! spammy just doesn’t like unformatted urls…. :)

  83. Mawm: I have been saying that for weeks. Two terms president, two terms House and Senate. And no more mention of 2012. I want to hear from someone who can assure me I will get through to the end of the month.

  84. ok so what next?
congress comes back at the taxpayers with a request for golden parachute money?

  85. I’m going to vote for the WOMAN. 30% all the way.

Which ones? Dunno yet, but more than likely Palin, but maybe McKinney, yes she’s wacky but I’m using McCain Palin as a nuclear option for FL if BOs & McCain have only a 5% or less difference.

  86. The world markets are adjusting. They are nationalizing their banks in some countries. Brazil and Russia’s Markets are closed.

The deal has to be implemented.

  87. thanks gary, i don’t mean to be so much trouble, really
    ;-)

  88. Mawm: Krugman or someone was quoted on Corrente as saying this was probably bailout #1. Bailout 2 will follow.

Earlier I was watching Fuld, chair of Lehman Bros trying to justify his salary and bonuses. He said his bucks were determined by the compensation committee. One congressman asked if he had any input into the selection of the comp. committee…”uh yes”.

I had the puke bucket nearby.

  89. Pat:

We have term limits here in California

I don’t recommend it for the nation

  90. I want women with proven track records not some woman who lost her job for poor performance then walked away with an outrageous package of swag. Give me someone who has been there, done that satisfactorily. I know they exist. They just found one in the wilds of Alaska.

  91. it was my undertanding that the bailout allowed up to 500k per exec in salary

anything more would not be tax deductible (how awful-as if institutions reporting huge losses need TAX DEDUCTIONS?)

so what are the execs bitching about? 500k isn’t enough??

  92. No surprise Wall St. wants more from congress. In poker, a big raise means the person has a good hand, or is bluffing that they do. However, if you’ve been called on your bluffs a lot, or you are known to back down from a good hand, no one will respect your raise. That is how I see the congressional Dems and their leadership. Even when they have a good hand, they still get called no matter what.

  93. Republicans are losing the most money. They don’t like to lose money. They will fix this asap.

  94. I would really like to know how much of the 400 million dollars BO is said to have raised for this election, is being quietly salted away by Axelrod and the Obamas.

I mean, they even make people pay for yard signs, supporters are paying for the leases of his local campaign offices themselves and so on.

I have always felt that That inner group is laughing all the way to the bank….

    BOs record is ….uh….uh…..uh….uh…..(infinity)

  96. myiq: Career politicians are a huge part of this growing mess. Are you up to 6 more years of Teddy whose health is in question, Byrd at over 90yrs of age, Biden, Kerry, Frank, the list is endless. Let’s try some new infusion for once instead of these old croaks who cling to their seats of power without regard for the rest of us. Might be innovative for once.

  97. Anybody get the feeling Paul Krugman is getting a percentage?

  98. Mawm – Yes, that did it for me. That statement was just too bizarre. I’ve always known McKinney was a little wacky, but she always seemed to have reasons for her views and actions.

One thing is for sure – they would rather let the stock market crash than listen to one word Hillary said about renegotiating the mortgages so that the people could pay them and not lose their houses.

Because as we all know, Hillary must be repudiated and defeated at all costs; yea, even unto another Great Depression.

  106. McCain to have a rally soon also. He is going to “hit BO between the ears”.

  112. Since we’ve gotten off-topic a bit, here is Jackie Mason supporting McCain:

  113. Sorry for the length. Enjoy this, courtesy of Johnny Mac.

    MCcain sticks it to Obama

    McCain statement

“I don’t need lessons about telling the truth to American people. And were I ever to need any improvement in that regard, I probably wouldn’t seek advice from a Chicago politician.”

Senator Obama has accused me of opposing regulation to avert this crisis. I guess he believes if a lie is big enough and repeated often enough it will be believed. But the truth is I was the one who called at the time for tighter restrictions on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that could have helped prevent this crisis from happening in the first place.

Senator Obama was silent on the regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and his Democratic allies in Congress opposed every effort to rein them in. As recently as September of last year he said that subprime loans had been, quote, “a good idea.” Well, Senator Obama, that “good idea” has now plunged this country into the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.

To hear him talk now, you’d think he’d always opposed the dangerous practices at these institutions. But there is absolutely nothing in his record to suggest he did. He was surely familiar with the people who were creating this problem. The executives of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have advised him, and he has taken their money for his campaign. He has received more money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac than any other senator in history, with the exception of the chairman of the committee overseeing them. Did he ever talk to the executives at Fannie and Freddie about these reckless loans? Did he ever discuss with them the stronger oversight I proposed? If Senator Obama is such a champion of financial regulation, why didn’t he support these regulations that could have prevented this crisis in the first place? He won’t tell you, but you deserve an answer.

  114. Pat:

California has the same kind of bad politicians, only they play musical chairs.

I ran across this article while searching for a paper that Luigi Zingales wrote about the bailout (he testified today regarding Lehman for Congress) which took me to a site with links to various papers written by economists about the bailout and this article which appeared in the WSJ on 9/12 was among them. It’s written by a UC professor.

Vote Republican If You Want Equal Pay
    By CASEY B.

Democratic candidates Barack Obama and Joseph Biden have proclaimed that they favor equal pay for women, and have alleged that Republicans do not. Sen. Biden has also insisted that Republicans, including vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, represent a step backwards for women. The economic record says exactly the opposite.
I have used labor market data from the Census Bureau to study the amount and reasons for women’s progress in the labor market since the 1960s. One byproduct of my study is a calculation of women’s relative wage growth by presidential administration.
In 1980 — the last full year of the Jimmy Carter administration — the typical woman (older than school age, but younger than retirement age) working full time throughout the year earned 38.5% less per hour than did the typical man in the same age bracket working full time throughout the year. When women earn less per hour than men — even in full-time work — that is known as the gender wage gap. When the gender wage gap narrows, women’s wages have grown relative to men’s.
The gender wage gap was 38.6% in 1976, the last full year of the Gerald Ford administration. By this measure, women made only infinitesimal progress toward equal wages during the four Carter years; women’s wages were essentially stagnant relative to men’s. In 1988, the last full year of the Ronald Reagan administration, women working full time throughout the year earned 30.3% less per hour than did men.
A 30.3% gender wage gap is obviously not full equality. But it is much closer to equality than it was at the end of the Carter administration. Women’s wages grew almost two percentage points per year more than men’s during the Reagan years, compared to less than 0.1 percentage point more than men’s per year during the Carter years.
The nearby chart shows the results for all of the administrations since Lyndon Johnson (I pool Richard Nixon and Ford). Johnson, Carter and Bill Clinton were all Democrats, yet none of them witnessed much labor market progress for women during their administrations. Essentially all of the labor-market progress for women occurred during Republican administrations: eight years of Reagan, four years of George H.W. Bush, and six years of George W. Bush (I do not yet have the data for the last two years of the current administration).
By 2006, the gender wage gap had narrowed to 21%. The Nixon-Ford administrations were the only Republican administrations that failed to witness significant reduction in the gender wage gap during their terms.
Sen. Obama says that he wants equal pay for women. If the historical record is any guide, the best way to achieve this is to work for a labor market that creates opportunities for women like it did during the Reagan and the Bush years. At the Reagan-Bush years’ pace, the gender wage gap in 2016 would be down to about 12%. At the Carter-Clinton years’ pace, women will not see new opportunities, and the gender pay gap will be essentially where it is today.

  117. yupyup: CONCERN TR*LL drunk with OBOTULISM

  118. yupyup: One question please. Even with certain shortcomings do you not agree that those so called “informed and well read” congressional representatives have done us dirt over the years? Wouldn’t you at least agree that as unsophisticated as she may appear, she is at least genuine?

I keep asking myself the question: Is she no better or worse than what we currently have representing us? And my answer is usually that she is speaking on my behalf and though it may not be coming through as “lofty”, it is coming through as sincere. Big difference between that and the yokels who look us in the eye while picking our pockets and telling us it is all for the good.

  119. myiq–virginia is the same way. a total of about 3 people have been gov or senator for the past 20 years…ok i’m exaggerating, but not far off…

  120. Regency :-)
    Happy dance.
    Johnny is winding up.

  121. PAAT!!! don’t ask it questions!!!!!

  123. yupyup: You betcha!

  124. Quick! Come upstairs to the new thread! Do not feed the Obot – Obotulism can be catching!

  125. Pelosi is a special case because I know so much about her, and there is no room for “the benefit of the doubt”, unless you drink the kool-aide. For Perdue, I really don’t have anything real on which to base dislike of her. It is just a creepy feeling I have about her, although it is the same type of intuition I had about Edwards which turned out to be right (general slime-ball feeling). So without any hard facts, I am giving Perdue Extra-X bonus, or McCrory the Y penalty whichever way you want to look at it.
If you are a Dem man this election, however, you are sh*t out of luck.

  126. Obama was a one time lawyer for ACORN in Chicago. His job was to sue those banks who held off granting loans to people whose credit rating and income levels did not qualify. His sole purpose was to put those banks on notice that they were committing grievous attacks on minoriites when they withheld funding.

Thanks so much, Barack, ACORN, and the over compensating congress. Nobody wins in this game. Only those smart enough to know when to take the money and run. This is the actual meaning of the word “bailout”. You do that and leave others holding the bag.

McCain lawyers puch back against “Keating Five” accusations.

  128. SOD: We could never hate you. And I completely agree.

  129. Is tomorrow’s debate townhall -style? McCain’s advantage, then.

  130. ooh…now they’re screamin “liar” when he says Obama’s name….

  131. Cramer on CNBC was brave enough to call them out on this saying that the market flucuations are being caused deliberately by “financial terrorists” — could there be some moneyed interests that desire the economy remain front and center??

Yes, they’re called the Obama Campaign.

  132. It’s vey sad about how Hillary and Sarah have been portrayed — hard to believe. Gary, RD & Co. I’m researching some things this am– I didn’t know about this — but here is more back story on something called Public Allies O founded in 1992. I had read about the “trainings” and then I saw that video last night –but? This fits with his Alinsky stuff. Bigly. Ugh. What have they done and why?

    http://www.hollywoodgrind.com/public-allies-is-a-barack-obama-racist-socialist-army/

now it makes sense about why they cry racism at every turn. It was her thesis, wasn’t it? WTF? That is all I can say. They did this, and allied with ACORN — hence the vote fraud. The media needs to out it, really. Also, this is probably where all the Che stuff is coming from, as well. Radical Authoritarian Socialism.

Can we have Hillary back? Or at least have Hillary explain why she is supporting something like this?

  133. I wonder if Hillary was promised VP in a second Obama term. I think Biden can be bought off pretty easily at this point.

  134. I don’t think Hillary believes there will ever be a second Obama term, regardless of who wins this year.

  135. Just trying to keep folks updated: Democrats For Principle Before Party is running 3 commecials in MO this Wednesday, precisely aimed at reminding people that they do NOT have to vote for Senator Obama:

  136. My mother did a piss poor job of raising me. how else could you explain a foul mouthed coward such as myself? I’m sure I won’t be able to resist the urge to be abusive towards women in an environment where I can can hide in my mommy’s basement behind a computer screen, so see ya!

  137. Ugh. Coming home from work to see this. Gary, you’re so great. For a man to appreciate the destructive nature of this treatment is really a testament to your character. As a woman, I thank you for understanding and caring.

I recently got into an argument with my boss about Palin. I won’t go into the details, but she cited the Eve Ensler email that was going around at that time like it was the gospel truth. I was going through papers for her today, and she had printed it out, and I just read it. Absolutely disgusting. It took every slanderous smear against Palin and reported it as fact: she doesn’t believe in evolution, she does not believe in contraception, she shoots wolves, etc. Ensler warned that McCain/Palin could be the end of civilization and feminists everywhere should be outraged at this poor example of the cause. This is the danger of women like Ensler, Steinem, Pollitt et. al preaching: women like my caring boss immediately believe their words based on their authority. Personally, I could care less what they think. They are wrong.

I am sickened by the liberal elites and their faux open-mindedness. It is disheartening and painful to see how truly bigoted they are, and in my view, just as bad as Rove & Co. ever were. Worse even, because they feign enlightened thinking, and then want to eviscerate one of their own.

  138. My mother did a piss poor job of raising me. how else could you explain a foul mouthed coward such as myself?

    LOL!!

  139. Remember how everyone freaked out about the New Yorker cartoon with the Obamas?

I need to crawl into a cave and hope this is all gone when I emerge.

  140. Hamlet was right.

  141. Here are some positive Palin cartoons – well at least I thought some were positive:
