PUMA and/or Clinton voter resistance in the polls, plus Hillary on CBS -update NBC, MSNBC & CNN

We’re not just a “shrieking band of paranoid holdouts,” or “50 people.”  We’re 42% of Clinton voters.  28% of us will vote McCain and the remainders like myself, won’t know until Election Day.  Yet we are definite in our Nobama/PUMA stance and that’s what drives the MSM bezerk.  This means a big difference especially in the big three swing states, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida.  If you have 42% of Democrats not vote for the Democrat in those states, the other party wins.  IT’S THE MAP, not the math.

What’s even more startling to them is this: more than 1/2 of us felt zero impact regarding the VP choices on either side.  Meh, Biden, Palin.  Still doesn’t change the fact the DNC stole votes to push Obama across the Primary finish line.  Who”l push him across the November 4th finish line?  Not the Mountain states.

Poll: Obama struggling to win over Clinton voters

By ALAN FRAM and TREVOR TOMPSON, Associated Press Writers

WASHINGTON (AP) — Barack Obama’s support from backers of Hillary Rodham Clinton is stuck smack where it was in June, a poll showed Tuesday, a stunning lack of progress that is weakening him with members of the Democratic Party in the close presidential race.

An Associated Press-Yahoo! News poll shows that among adults who backed his rival during their bitter primary campaign, 58 percent now support Obama. That is the same percentage who said so in June, when Clinton ended her bid and urged her backers to line up behind the Democratic senator from Illinois.

..

Clinton backers’ reluctance to support Obama helps explain why he is having a tougher time solidifying partisan supporters than McCain. Overall, 74 percent of Democrats say they will vote for Obama, compared to 87 percent of Republicans behind the Arizona senator. About nine in 10 Clinton supporters are Democrats.

The problem that supporters of Clinton, the New York senator, have with Obama seems to flow from their measure of him as a candidate, not from issues. From establishing a timeline for a U.S. withdrawal from Iraq to abortion to canceling tax cuts on the rich, their views of the importance of issues are virtually identical to Democrats in general.

Yet they find Obama less likable, honest, experienced and inspiring than Democrats overall do, and have a better view of McCain. And while majorities of Clinton supporters say Obama shares their values and understands ordinary Americans, they’re less likely to say so than Democrats overall.

Wow – you mean we don’t like him because of his inexperience?  And despite we share values, we still won’t vote for him?  Maybe it had to do with all that election fraud stuff.  And the article doesn’t call us bitter racists?  Ya don’t say!

Well my fellow PUMA/Clinton Democrats, here’s another reason why we’re willing to sit this election out.  THIS is leadership in action, instead of hiding out somewhere in Tampa to study for a debate.  Ya think Obama is in “Uh Uh” rehab?

Here she is on CBS:

Today Show:

And on Morning Joe on MSNBC.  Yes, Joe, we want Aretha too.

H/T BostonBoomer for CNN clip, I can’t upload unless it’s Youtube, but here it is.

Can we have Hillary back????

  1. I AM NOT sitting out this election. I am voting for Mccain. Obambi is dangerous!

  2. Great post, SM!!!!

We tried and tried to tell them and they just wouldn’t listen. Now that our predictions are coming true, they still don’t get it. If we are 40% of Hillary’s voters, he simply can’t win.

  3. Not happy at all about the events leading to this unexpected conversion experience, but I’m mighty proud to be a PUMA – the thinking woman/man’s voter.

  4. when i watched Hillary on cnn today, i thought to myself, what a bunch of morons, for picking the teleprompted One.

  5. I watched Hillary this morning while I ate my raisin bran. Gosh she is good. And I am voting McCain/Palin despite the hate I am getting form my Liberal friends.

  6. I watched Hillary this morning while I ate my raisin bran. Gosh she is good. And I am voting McCain/Palin despite the hate I am getting from my liberal friends.

  7. I watched Hillary on CBC, then CNN, then NBC and finally MSNBC. I really miss her. How is it that she is not the democratic nominee. All I kept thinking this morning was “This is Leadership you can believe in”

  8. SM: It sure is good to have you back. I’m not sitting this one out either. I am voting for McCain for all the reasons listed in the poll. Again, Hillary blows Obama out of the water with her skill and incredible intelligence.

    Power to the Puma

  9. I meant CBS

  10. SM,

I heard Hillary on CNN a little while ago. Whoever the interviewer was, he was breathless trying to question her about whether Obama would be doing better with her as VP. She remained dignified and never answered that question or the one about whether she would have accepted VP if it had been offered.

Did you ever see the looney toons cartoons about the big bulldog and the little dog who idolizes him? The little dog jumps all around the big dog trying to get his attention. That’s what the interview reminded me of. Hillary is magnificent.

  11. Yes, BB, Hillary is indeed magnificent. This year, afraid McCain will have to do.

  12. Harry has a crush on Hillary, I think! He was riveted to her every word and breath.

God, she is such a wonderful, clear speaker. She is even better than Bill. I so wish I could vote for Obama just to please her, but I cannot.

By the way, did you notice that she said “four more years” when she mentioned McCain being President?

    Hillary 2012

  13. Hey everyone! This post was a sneak-in post during work hours, but I couldn’t resist this one.

SHE IS MAGINIFICENT.With Hillary, we can make it through the storm. I can wait 4 more years.

And yes, we are 40% of the electorate. 40% of Hillary voters in the three swing states voting against the Dem ticket means O’Biden LOSES.

  14. Boston, do you have a link to CNN? I’ll look on Youtube.

  15. it was a good read sm! I sort miss being called a racist, republican feminist.

  16. i am in moderation :-(

  17. She said on the tape “the choice is clear”. Yes, it is. No Obama.

When asked about Palin she said the bottom line is who is at the top of the ticket. Yes it is.

  18. Get Taggles out of moderation.

  19. We will have Hillary with a McCain/Palin ticket. Obama will have to try to crush her because of his huge narcissistic ego. Keep this in mind.

We can’t let the Dems get away with this travesty.

    Punishment, Retribution and Reform 2008

    PUMA HAKA

  20. Wow, is she great or what!!!? Waaaaah. I want my Hillary for President. :-(

  21. We Love You Hillary!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. I have never been polled but me and at least 15 of my family members are NOT voting for Obamaho.

We were all Clinton supporters who were told by Donkey Brazirre to stay home…that we Latinos were not part of the new coalition. Well, we will be happy to oblige ya lady!

  23. Maybe Berg can save us tomorrow!

But, if not Piper and Trig will be glad to live in the lower 48.

    CAROL HAKA

  24. The link to the AP article is broken. I enjoyed the post!

  25. “Obama struggling to win over Clinton voters” — I have to argue about the “struggling” part. Obama’s not doing one darn thing to win us over. Honestly, what’s he done except deride us?

  26. Obama’s audience is dwindling so they are putting Flags behind him now.

  27. I added new videos!

Couldbe: Thanks, I’ll fix the link!

  28. Carol – Was it the Rev. Wright speech when he had about 47 flags behind him?

    Overcompensating much, Obama?

  29. Just got a call from the DNC asking for a $100 donation because of the tight race. My answer: “No. I believe we would have been in better shape with Clinton on the ticket.” The guy then went to his talking points for speaking to PUMAs: “Donations to the DNC don’t just support Senator Obama. They also support other Democratic candidates.” That’s when I explained I was doing my part by donating directly to candidates here in Texas and politely said goodbye.

I will be writing in Cynthia McKinney/Rosa Clemente for president/VP. The list of people approved for write-in is on the Texas Secretary of State webpage. Obama has already conceded Texas to McCain/Palin, so my vote doesn’t matter. This way I get to vote for two women at the top of the ticket, and the Green Party is a lot more principled than the Democratic Party.

  30. I really miss her. I got an email yesterday from her website asking if I would be interested in a new approach to campaigning for Obi. The strategy was to say Hillary sent me. If they don’t think we are out there in droves, then why this strategy. There is no way in hell, I could ever tell a voter to vote Obama and that Hillary sent me with this message.

    NOBAMA!

  31. SM,

I heard it on satellite radio. I’m pretty sure it was CNN. It could have been Fox. I’ll see what I can find.

  32. That just trotted BO out in front of the cameras to plagarize Hillary. He looks sleepy. They woke him from his debate nap.

  33. CouldBe: I fixed the link, thanks for letting me know!

    Taggles: LOL!

  34. I am sorry and concerned to read Bill Clinton is going to start campaigning and fund raising for Obama next week. If anything will swing voters to Obama if will be Bill campaigning for him. This could hurt!

  35. Hillary Clinton is the real leader and she is of course, up to the task. Barack Obama is not, he is indeed MIA. McCain, IMOP, would make marginal steps but if the Dems have veto proof numbers, and strong leaders (Hillary as Majority Leader and her counterpart in the House), we can get real change. If Obama is in, the corporations get their man and the Dems, even with veto proof majorities, would be loathe to go against the first AA President. Obama is the greater of the evils.

I am writing in Hillary and encouraging those that like neither but can’t vote for Republicans to vote third Party or for an independent, to write-in or leave the top blank. A vote for anyone else is not a vote for Obama and hurts his chances. I have found that is not working to try to get someone to vote for McCain if its anathema to them – therefore, RD’s and DM’s mantra is voice your anti-Obama vote in the manner that you feel comfortable is the best strategy.

  36. Obama looks terrible. Very tired, bags under his eyes. Looks like he hasn’t slept well.

Did you see the clip of him flubbing the names of Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac? He said

“Freddie Mac ,, uh Fanny Freddy, uh Fannie Mae and …” (off camera corrections) “that’s what I said.”

Wow did he sound snippy when he said “that’s what I said.” You have to see it to get the full impact.

    He’s falling apart.

  37. SM,

I found the CNN video. The interviewer is John Roberts.

    http://www.cnn.com/video/?iref=videoglobal

  38. “Hillary sent me” ha ha. Good one.

  39. alexei – I’m voting third-party. NoBama!

  40. I wish Hilllary had worn the orange suit. She looks kind of tired. But at least the interviewers are treating her with respect. She is going to be the real leader of the Senate from now on.

  41. Obama supporters are screaming that Bill Clinton is not pushing voting for Obama hard enough when he appears on TV. The Big Dawg has said a few nice things about John McCain, and apparently he isn’t allowed to do that.

  42. Roberts on CNN this am was a bit of a turd.

This is the same guy that thought palin should be home with her babies.

  43. OK, BB, THANKS!! posting it now!

  44. Bill Clinton capably communicates a very intelligent response and we always find ourselves nodding in agreement. He never uses words we don’t understand. Nor does he use concepts that confuse or misguide. You can’t not respect the guy.

Hillary is like the Queen of Swords in the tarot deck. She knows the kingdom, has seen it all, recognizes that what’s urgent isn’t necessarily important. And keeps the country together while the boys of the court are taking the credit.

  45. Hey PUMA SF, Hey everyone!!!

    :-)

    PAT Jonson where are you?

  46. Arabella – Where are you seeing Oba-Moi?

  47. The Obamans are scrambling to pre-blame someone, anyone, for Obama’s inevitable loss.

Since they hate Bill Clinton anyway, they’re going to blame him. Let them. They can go fuck themselves. The more women we elect, the less power these misogynistic, elitist fools will have in our Party.

    ——————————————————————

    AMEN! It is never enough.

  49. Abso-damn-lutely madamab!

Craig Crawford wrote that Chris Rock was right last night on Letterman and the Big Dawg wasn’t praising the “One” but was talking about Senator Clinton.

Oh well, at least I never did like Chris Rock any way. Talk about shrill! And I just don’t find him funny.

I like thinking people’s humor like Carlin. The shrill-screechy just annoys me. Maybe why I never liked Jerry Lewis’s comedy.

  50. I would love to vote for McKinney but I no longer feel comfortable doing so since VA is supposedly close and there’s already been evidence of voter registration fraud here. I just don’t trust that the Obama/Chicage thug machine won’t try to work its magic in VA so I’m going to vote McCain/Palin. And, frankly, the more I’ve seen of John McCain, the more I like him. And, given that there’s a woman on the ticket, that takes care of my personal pledge to support the 30% solution.

  51. Biden gaffed on coal today. Said BO didn’t support it. Whoops! The McCain camp is salivating.

Does Joe not know what he’s campaigning for exactly?

  52. Someone on another thread asked for the link about the pledged delegate count only being a 17 point difference. It was posted at No Quarter yesterday and here is the link, but I can’t tell if this is a final tally officially from the DNC or if this is an old tally that No Quarter was just repeating.

    http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P08/D.phtml

  53. Kenosha – I saw some of The View – Bill was praising The One, but refused to demonize McCain. That’s probably what they are yelling about, but I thought it was great. He is being Presidential. Good presidents know how to work with the other side without saying they are evil incarnate. That’s why Bush is a horrible president – everything’s black and white and negotiations are for weaklings.

No, negotiations are for adults. Throwing temper tantrums and using threats are for children. As TR said, “Speak softly, but carry a big stick.”

  54. Regency,

Biden is a gaffe machine. I doubt if he even knows who is backing Obama. He just opens his mouth and whatever he’s thinking spills out.

  55. Hey, Tags. When’s your next show?

  56. Biden is campaigning for McCain/Palin.

He already told us in the debates Obama is not qualified. DAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

  57. If we are 40% of Hillary’s voters, he simply can’t win.

Is that accurate? I keep hearing about the surge of new Dem registrations and the superior “ground game” the O campaign has in place. Can those numbers compensate enough for the fierce PUMA resistance?

Hillary is the best. I know she’s doing her best Dem Dance, but she is not being honest about McCain continuing the Bush policies and not doing anything to stop this meltdown. McCain was one of the only Congressman to actually call for reform, but no one would back him, including the adminstration. Also, he has a proven record of fighting corruption and lobbyists. That’s their best strategy: McCain = Bush, and it seems to be working in certain places. Michigan voters (42%?) equate him with Bush and that makes them reluctant to vote for him.

  58. kenosha, anyone who does not praise the way obots and the DNC and the One himself thinks is appropriate, is breaking one of the ten commandments.

I thought religious fundamentalism was bad, the obamaligion is worse.

  59. Arabella: good news that BO is exhausted. What’s this guy’s problem–he’s been exhausted since March. Hillary is tired, but that doesn’t stop her from pushing forward legislation on ten fronts simultaneously AND campainging for his tired a*s. He’s 13 years younger than she is and takes breaks regularly. Same with McCain. The guy is 72, and he’s not stumbling around half asleep. If he is out of it on Friday, he’s doomed. He is a terrible debater as it is, and when he is tired, he gets very irritable.

  60. Regency – I think Biden wishes he was running as Hillary’s VP.

    Us too, Joe. Us too.

  61. fif – Awwww. Obie want a blankie?

    ;-)

  62. Hey Puma-SF, RD has a show tonight at ten, called Conflucians Say.

Then me, RD and d murphy have a Lions Share on Wednesday at 8pm eastern.

Then d murphy has murphy and friends at 9pm eastern on saturday.

And I am doing No We Won’t on Sunday at 8pm eastern.

  63. Madamab: You can say that again.,

  64. Thanks, Tags. I’ll be listening to all of them.

  65. Biden is against clean coal:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rXyTRT-NZg

But obama and biden are for clean coal?

    huh

  66. I am worried that McCain’s statements on the mortgage crisis will chase some conservative voters to Bob Barr. George Will came out with an anti-McCain diatribe today. McCain’s populist posture is not playing well with the free-marketers who disdain the government bailout. Newt Gingrich is also up in arms over Paulson bailing out his “buddies from Goldman Sachs.” Bob Barr is the Republican version of Cynthia McKinney. They just reduce the number of voters involved in the main event.

Since I live in California, my vote for McCain is not likely to affect anything, but at least I will have the satisfaction of taking out an Obot with it.

  67. If Conservative voters want BO to be President, they’r welcome to vote Barr. He ain’t gonna be president, but at least they’ll be able to sleep at night.

  68. Dave – Goldman Sachs is profitable – they aren’t getting bailed out.

  69. The most important thing about this bailout package is going to be the willingness of key people to put down partisan advantage and work to solve problems. The interesting thing to me is that McCain and Hillary seem to be the two people who really are about problem solving—it turns them on and floats their boats.

I pray the debate Friday is a disaster for Obama. Jim Lehrer is likely to be even handed, likely to ask good questions that require some thought. I do not see him as partisan immersed as just about anyone else in tv land. At the presidential politics level this country is pretty much evenly divided and has been pretty much since the 60s. The Senate more or less reflects this too. I think the House is so gerrymandered that it reflects local politics much more than national politics. I wish Nov. 4 were Oct. 4.

  70. Jangles – how about 9/24?????????

  71. I’m afraid I will be decorating my Christmas trees again before this is over.

    It makes me sick.

  72. fif said “Arabella: good news that BO is exhausted. What’s this guy’s problem–he’s been exhausted since March.”

take it from someone who smoked for 20 years…its because he is still smoking I would bete. That’s also why you’ll never see his full medical report.

  73. Hillary wouldn’t have to prepare for the debate. She’s ready to go. I haven’t seen McCain debate, so I don’t know his style, but I’ve seen him thrust the knife, and I know that is going to infuriate Obama. He’ll be sticking his finger in the air, trying to interrupt. I want to see the face off, but I can’t bare to look at him. I might wait until I get a review from you guys and then watch it in repeat if he blows it.

  74. Gary: maybe it is just that covering your tracks takes extra work.

  75. Carol: LOL!!! Didn’t you just celebrate Christmas in July?

  76. I may have to beg you guys to stop posting such great examples of a true leader. It is breaking my heart watching Hillary be so good.

I saw Bill on The View and thought he was very fair to John McCain. I’m sure that is pissing the Obama camp off.

Dave, I’m voting in California and have to get my ballot sent in the mail over the next week (going on vacation down here in Oz) but I have made the same decision. Top of the ticket is McCain/Palin and then all the women downticket are getting my vote. I still have to read about all the initiatives but the gay marriage one is well-worded this time so is easier to vote against (which doesn’t put a stop to gay marriage).

  77. fif – McCain is good at debating. All the Republicans are. It’s a particular skill that can be learned. Unlike a lot of Democrats, they have no illusions that they can be elected without that skill.

Don’t worry, Obama will be painfully horrible. He is too arrogant to admit any flaw within himself or his assumptions. Thus, he will have a repeat performance of the Pennsylvania debate with Hillary.

  78. gary – I’ll bet you’re right. If he is still smoking, consider this scenario:

Obama cannot accept for the public to see anything other than a perfect image. Hecan’t admit that he’s still smoking. It makes him look less than perfect. So maybe that’s why he won’t release his medical records.

If he had just said “Yeah, I still smoke.” People may have related to him as just a regular guy.

Obama is his own worst enemy.

  79. Arabella: I can’t find the clip of Obama flubbing on Fannie/Freddie. Do you have a link?

  80. I’ve been getting lots of hate directed towards me from my liberal so-called friends. Do they not think that I’ve thought about my decision to vote McCain/Palin. Am I just being the idiot they have implied I am or am I being a thoughtful one time Democrat who has been so appalled by the garbage of this primary election and the DNC’s illegal, unprincipled theft of an election? No – I guess I’m just stupid as they imply – hey gang – it’s you who I think are stupid not to see what has happened to democracy and our Democratic Party – guess the Kool-Aid was really effective.

  81. Ha ha. McCain is trying to build up expectations for Obama’s debate performance:

“Have no doubt about the capabilities of Sen. Obama to debate. I mean, he’s very, very good,” McCain said.

“He was able to defeat Sen. Hillary Clinton, who, as we all know, is very accomplished, very accomplished. And he was able to, I think, with his eloquence, inspire a great number of Americans.”

    http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/09/23/politics/fromtheroad/entry4472128.shtml

  82. The Bar is WAY up there.

    Nice one, John.

  83. My colleagues keep telling me he is more intellectual (than what, I would like to know?). I was told yesterday I was irrational and that my stance was dangerous–this from someone who supported Nader in 2000.

Obama is less honest and less experienced than McCain. But even if he weren’t, he is turning so far to the right I can’t believe my really leftie colleagues want to vote for him. But they all say, he doesn’t actually mean he is for the death penalty (in which case, wouldn’t that make him a liar?), or, he does support gay rights despite what he said in the Saddleback forum (lying again?)

    Ugh.

  84. BB – LOL! Ooooh, he is good.

He did the same thing with the “Obama will get a 15 point bounce from the Convention” stuff.

I see the slimy but talented hand of KKKarl in this statement.

  85. Dave-I saw some commenters on a right-wing blog call McCain/Palin “leftists”……

I also saw Hillary on a pro-Obama blog being described as an angel who would open the paths of heaven (or something like it) by using her grassroots movement to campaign for votes for Obama!!!

(Patsy and Sugar towards the end of their last show also mention something like that) blogtalkradio.com nqr

  86. But what if Obama has the living dead come out and vote on Nov.4 to make up for the 14% of Hillary votes not accounted for?

And we know he will. Yes he can!

  87. Here’s the tape of Obama flubbing Fannie Mac Mae:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F-PMY72luY

    Look how tired he is.

  88. Arabella – Oyyyyssssshhhh, that’s just embarrassing.

  89. Thanks for that link, Arabella – he sure does looked tired and out of it. I think he needs that blankie and a waffle to make everything alright.

  90. I’m voting for Captain Spaulding

  91. Myiq – Who’s that?

  92. Don’t worry, Obama will be painfully horrible. He is too arrogant to admit any flaw within himself or his assumptions. Thus, he will have a repeat performance of the Pennsylvania debate with Hillary.

lol. I hope he is even worse than in the ABC debate. He’s going to be going through teleprompter withdrawal panic after all. No amount of prep can help him with that!

MonaP: just send a polite but firm reply to your friends: I do not want to discuss politics. I own my vote. Thank you.

I love what Bill said on The View: “I think it’s a big mistake to attack the person you don’t want to vote for.” [paraphrase]

  93. MYIQ: I thought you were a Vadge Voter! Don’t tell me you went Strictly Dickly!

  94. Mona, huntingdon, you’re in good company. I’ve been called it all today: Bitter, petty, r@cist, ignorant.

Obots don’t understand us because they don’t WANT to understand us. To understand us they would have to admit that the primaries were not legitimate, which makes their Messiah illegitimate. For them, who cares about what happened? It’s in the past, get over it.

The biggest difference is that most PUMAs think that fair, honest and accurate elections are the only thing that will keep us free, and if we can’t trust our own party to give us that, how can we trust them to do ANYTHING they promise to do?

  95. OMG – someone post the Letterman with Bill last night.

He said, “McCain gave everything he could without getting killed. But, we need a change and I think I’m going the other way.”

I’m pretty sure he will be off the campaign trail for BO.

    President Bill Haka

That was me. I remember there was a link yesterday but couldn’t find it. I want to send this to my daughter. She is my confidante and solace (along with this board) during this sad, sad election year. Thanks!

  97. Arabella, Barry comes across as stupid in that clip. Like, “someone help me, I’m not sure I sad the right thing”. What was the context of that clip? Maybe it was debate practice.

Yeah, I want to see the clip of Bill on Letterman – he is SUCH a PUMA.

  99. Captain Spaulding is the guy whose picture is my avatar.

He is the homicidal clown who is the head of the Firefly clan in “House of 1000 Corpses” and “The Devil’s Rejects”

The Captain told me I have to vote for him or else. I don’t know what the “or else” is, but I don’t want to make the Captain angry.

  100. fif, that’s what I do. I “watch” from this board. The only convention speech I bothered to turn on was Palin’s. I couldn’t even bring myself to watch Hillary’s. Just too sad.

  101. I have a theory – then again I always have one. What do you think of this.

Joe Biden, President Bill, Hillary and a handful of others are thinking WTF did the DNC do picking this guy Obama. He’s NOT electable, he has no experience.

SO…… President Bill makes the rounds — not giving him a lot of play, praising McCain, etc.

Biden is on the circuit – making his gaffs or is he?

Hillary is playing good cop. She’s out there talking about the economy, energy, etc — showing the American people …… see this is what you could have had but NOOOOOO the DNC decided for you.

    Thoughts ??

  104. That’s so big-brotherish, edge. Wonder who really is pulling Barack’s strings?

  105. Scrubs – check out gatewaypundit.blogspot for Sept 22 2008 for the entire context of the flub. It was a teleprompter glitch, but as the commenter says, if you know your material you shouldn’t make such an obvious mistake.

This clip is significant to me for two reasons: Number one, Obama looks beat to sh!t tired. Number two, check out how pissy Obama gets when he tries to recover from the gaffe. He’s like a guilty little kid with an attitude.

  106. Why is this guy incapable of talking without a teleprompter. Puhleez somebody wake me up, this can’t really be happening?!

  107. Arabella, thanks for posting the clip. Sure, all politicians have slips of the tongue. But Obama just looked out of it, and sounded snippy, too. He can be so petulant.

  108. Arabella — I seem to remember that Sarah Palin’s speech at the convention -the TelePrompTer was all jacked up and she did GREAT.

  109. Mona, I don’t have too many friends left either. The last few losses were due to my complete refusal to hear another woman bash Sarah Palin. I refuse to stand by and politely allow it.

Myiq: Captain Spaulding and those Rob Zombie movies are just a little too graphic for me. The last Halloween flick, Zombie did was not quite as bad.

  110. RealKim:

Zombie saved money on special effects by actually murdering the extras in his movies.

He saved a ton on actor salaries too

I hope you are right. I want him humiliated.

  113. simofish – Exactly! If you know your stuff, you don’t fall apart when there is a teleprompter glitch.

At this point, Obama is just phoning it in – he’s tired and bored. The teleprompter could start spewing out random sentences and Obama would read them as long as he could keep a cadence going.

Obama just doesn’t care any more.

  114. please delete the comment The Left.

  115. In my mostly Republican neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale (we are red in a sea of blue) the Democrats are mostly Clinton supporters. Even my neighbor who began leaning Obama after Hillary conceded has changed her mind. She now does not want Obama at all due to the happenings in South and Central America.

  116. Myiq: He obliterates the stars in his movies as well, he makes them look haggard and rough, unless it is his wife and Sherry always looks good.

    My ex wasn’t playing though.

I ike your theory but I think the truth is Hillary and Bill are supporting Obama because he is a democrat. It’s that simple for them.

  119. Obama isn’t a Democrat.

He is “Obama, party of one.”

  120. If BO is bored and tired now, how does he expect to make it through the presidency? He has no clue what he would be in for, and there wouldn’t be anyone to vote “present” for him. The pressure would eat him alive. Save yourself (and us) and lose lose lose.

  121. Hey, Ed Rendell on Fox right now (at least he is in Oz and it says “live”).

Senator Clinton Outlines Principles for Action on Economic Crisis

Clinton: Stabilize Wall Street and Rescue Main Street

Calls for Steps to Offer Relief to Homeowners, Stabilize the Markets and Provide Broader Economic Reform

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton today outlined a series of principles and proposals to stabilize the markets and provide broader economic reform. She underscored the necessity of bold and comprehensive action to stabilize Wall Street and rescue Main Street. Yesterday, Senator Clinton met with New York Federal Reserve Bank President Tim Geithner to discuss her proposals for reform and the impact of the economic crisis on New York.

“As we face the most serious financial crisis since the Great Depression, we must commit to rescue Main Street as well as Wall Street. I have outlined the principles that I believe should guide our efforts to respond to this crisis, from offering relief to homeowners and equity to taxpayers, to providing accountability on Wall Street, new federal oversight and broader economic reform. I will continue to champion these principles as well as the needs of New Yorkers impacted by this crisis in the hours and days ahead,” Senator Clinton said.

Senator Clinton’s principles and proposals for action are summarized below. The complete statement of principles is available here:

Joe Biden, President Bill, Hillary and a handful of others are thinking WTF did the DNC do picking this guy Obama. He’s NOT electable, he has no experience.
SO…… President Bill makes the rounds — not giving him a lot of play, praising McCain, etc.
Biden is on the circuit – making his gaffs or is he?
Hillary is playing good cop. She’s out there talking about the economy, energy, etc — showing the American people …… see this is what you could have had but NOOOOOO the DNC decided for you.
    Thoughts ??

I’m gonna pull an Obama and say: Ditto. Your post makes a lot of sense.

  125. myiq2xu – we might not see him as a Democrat but he is representing the Democratic Party. He is the leader of the party. That is good enough for some people

  131. Yep – Obama is finding it harder and harder to hide his nasty side. Even his all important VP pick is pissing him off.

If his teleprompter gliches out during the debate, it’s over.

    LMAO – what a joke!

  132. In talking about Todd Palin to Greta, Bill just said that the political spouse should give advice to the politician in a way that doesn’t make “her” look weak. That’s funny, because no-one thinks that that is the Sarah/Todd relationship, but there is plenty of speculation that that is the Barack/Michelle relationship.

  135. My dear fellow Conflucians/Pumas. It is real. I have written affirmation that there is in fact an election coming Nov. 4. It is partially detailed in the 144 page California General Election Official Voter Information Guide I received in today’s mail. This 144 page document does not include anything about local, state or national offices. It details the initiatives and constitutional amendment proposals that will be on the CA ballot. Although the detail covers 12 proposals, the detail goes from a two page summary to the actual full proposed law or bond proposal of each measure. Imagine what this guide would be if we had the guide for the office contests and all the information, candidate statements etc. We are lucky ducks here in the orange, nut, salad bowl, movie and digital gimmick state. I am honestly excited about it. This election has done one thing for me; it has made me cling to political grand events and minutiae of the stump 24/7 and rediscover the unadorned information inscribed on cheap recycled newsprint produced with the union seal. I love America; I love California. I can hardly wait for my absentee ballot so I can connect the dots for McCain Palin.

Yes he can but lets hope that there are some dead people that also like McCain and they too will wake up and vote for him. Maybe Cynthia Mckinney and Nader will get some of his supporters to vote for them. Nader will be on the ballot in 45 states. If enough Democratic latinos and some leftists can vote for a Nader/Gonzalez ticket, that might hurt Obama.

When did Obama flip flop on the death penalty? I thought he was against it

  139. My gravatar is coming after anyone that allows BO to win this election. Look at it carefully. It is really mean and scary.

Voting for McCain means BO has 2 votes to make up to pull ahead.

  140. The kid’s anti-Obama T-shirt was really offensive. It said Obama is a friend to the terrorists. That’s over the line and could have led to fights in the hallways. I really think the school did the right thing.

  141. Normally, I will not read anything by Christopher Hitchens. But these are strange times. He has an article in Slate making a case that maybe Obi didn’t want to win and that this was his trial run for 2012. His theory is that in BO testing the waters, his rabid fans pushed him into territory he didn’t plan on entering.

It actually makes a little sense.

  142. I dunno know, Carol, my avatar has some huge teeth.

  143. Downticket, no he is for it. AAs don’t seem to mind though.

  144. bboomer, I agree 100% that shirt was way over the top and inflammatory. the dad sounds like a nut case and I’m sure he’s the one behind it. Poor kid. whether you agree or not, the SCOTUS has determined that the free speech rights of school children is limited and under the discretion of school administrators. They even gave him the option of turning it inside out. The kids parents should be prosecuted for child abuse for using their children to push their ideological agenda.

  150. Arabella, hey at least yours doesn’t have a squiggly thing coming out of your butt, spaced out eyes and huge hips.

  151. Mawm, please don’t generalize. SOME African Americans may not mind that he’s in favor of the death penalty, but I’m not one. I am against the death penalty. Hillary was my candidate, and I wish she was against the dealth penalty, but she isn’t.

Not one candidate was against the death penalty, so don’t act like African Americans are the only ones holding their noses over that issue.

    ———————–

To me it doesn’t. If he didn’t want to win why did he refuse to have a real roll call vote at the convention? Why did he cheat in the caucuses? Why did he have Nancy, Reid and Dean strongarm superdelegates into supporting him? Obama’s African American surrogates did the same thing. He had many opportunities to quit but he didn’t take them. He wanted/wants to win at any cost. He just thought that it would all be too easy. He expected Hillary’s supporters to support him after Hillary ended her campaign despite of all the things he did to her and her supporters during the primary. No no no, make no mistake about it. Obama wants to win. He wants it really bad but he doesn’t want to work for it.

  153. My avatar has big teeth, whether it is the green thing or me. And my butt is not that big, so the green thing had to go. Carol, you have one eye and teeth only on the bottom, tread softly.

  155. Well, my avatar can out cute any of y’alls.

  156. Mawm, on September 23rd, 2008 at 5:15 pm

then why did he vote against it? I believe it was during the time when he was a state senator and it was about allowing the death penalty for gang members.

  157. sonya, I’d say it is a bigger issue in the AA community than any other, and AAs are voting for him %94. Is %94 a big enough percentage to generalize?
What I have read from a few Obama supporting AA bloggers is that they don’t believe he is really for it. They think he is just saying what people want to hear to get elected.

  158. Downticket, he may be lying about his support. He lies a lot you know. When I clued in that his latest position was to support the death penalty it was right after the Supreme court decision not allowing the death penalty for child rape. Obama wants it.

    http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/06/25/obama-condemns-supreme-court-decision-in-child-rape-case/

  159. Mawm, since none of the candidates are/were anti-death penalty, what’s the point of singling out African Americans? If that is the deciding issue for voters, who is the best choice?

Generalizing is never a good idea, and especially not when you’re dissing a group of people based on a faulty premise.

  160. Mawm – are avatars and gravatars subject to the death penalty???????????

  161. sonya, Cynthia McKinney is an anti-death penalty candidate.

  162. gxm17, you’re right. I forgot about Cynthia McKinney. I know quite a few black folks who are going to vote for her.

  163. I wonder why the hell they’re not interviewing Barack Obama? Now that speaks volumes.

  164. sonya, I send her money every pay day and always include a note thanking her for fighting the good fight and being a voice for the people. She’s amazing. I love her energy and unflagging commitment to the issues.

  165. I’m not disparaging a group of people. The Obama supporting AAs have not held Obama’s feet to the fire over any of the issues that are important to their community. They have given their support to him with no strings whatsoever, so I do not feel like it is a faulty premise. Any AA politician who has spoken out against Obama has met with harsh retaliation and been accused of being a race-traitor. Witness Tavis Smiley who didn’t even say he was against Obama, but merely criticized him.
AAs have been a very vocal minority on the national scene, and the Death penalty is one of their biggest issues.
    http://www.naacp.org/news/press/2007-06-28/index.htm
Make one mistake and Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are nipping at your heels, but what did I hear after Obama came out for the death penalty for child rape?

    ….

Would it be alright with you if I said, AAs overwhelmingly…?

  166. I think those numbers are too high!

McCain/Palin signs are sprouting in yards of my Democratic friends…

Then I have a holdout with his new sign. Obama/Biden – VOTE DEMOCRATIC.

I just laughed at that. Obama, the undemocratic candidate is telling us to vote Democratic. The irony.

  167. Leisa, I have a sign in my yard that says.

    Another Democrat
    for McCain

  168. I think it is important to remember that african americans are subjected to the death penalty at much higher rates than other groups. It is a racist policy. Black men are also about 3 times more likely to receive the death penalty if the victim is white. Sonya, I would think that would make it all that more important to the AA community, don’ t you think?

  169. TheRealKim said

I sort of agree. In the beginning that’s exactly why I thought he was running; and a lot of early moments esp. he looked like a deer caught in the headlights. I think when he started to do well it was too late to do anything else but go for it.

I don’t mean that he never really wanted to win, just that the 2008 run would have been the campaign to introduce himself on a national stage type run, the the real go-for-the-gold run in 2012 or 2016. But he got extremely lucky, and we got extremely unlucky, courtesy of the Kool Aid cultists (although drinking the KA doesn’t really capture how wretched and soulless the bloggerboyz are) and a DNC that couldn’t wait to rid the party of the taint of Clinton.

Sigh. After years and years of Republicans in office, I thought I knew the measure of evil in this country. But I didn’t.

  170. You know I just love Hillary, but I am SO tired of hearing her and Bill shilling for the One. It is really starting to annoy me.

  171. I identified with the woman who has the “gut feeling.” My gut feeling was and is not right about him. Strangely enough I had the same feeling about Bush’s 2nd term.

  173. sm – Before I even read through the thread, I want to thank you for the late night post last night. Given fair warning, I was up and at the ready to catch Hillary on NBC, CNN, MSNBC, and CBS (recorded). Of the interviews, I liked Scarborough best – he genuinely likes her and she was very relaxed with him.

Hillary worked very hard yesterday and I am sure she did today, too, so – what YOU said: Can we please have her back now???

  174. Still4Hill: AMEN!!! And you’re welcome! SusanUnPC at NoQuarter posted that and I was like WOW!!! Then she posted her schedule for today. IFortunately, other Hillbots posted the interviews for the working class folk like us who couldn’t catch the interviews. SHE IS MAGNIFICENT. And so is BILL.

Please go to Alegre’s Corner & read about the Clinton Global Initiative web streaming event the next few days. LOVE IT.

  175. Alice: Obama is fit for a “glorified motivational cult like speaker.” Like those seminars at pricey hotels where you hav to walk over hot rocks & deprive yourself of peeing type stuff, just so they can sell you Amway products.

  176. sm – I know – I joined Bill’s newsletter – it’s great. I love the work he does for/with Haiti – I used to live there.

I usually put on my make-up while I watch morning tv, so I was all set to do the surfing this morning, thanks to you.

BTW – I don’t see anything here at Confluence about any Conflucians who got an invitation to apply for Camp Obama yesterday.

    Did anybody else? I did.

  181. Busy day. Wanted to see what Hillary said on the morning shows–and I knew it would be here.

Amazing that so many lefty bloggers couldn’t even cover her comments on this hair-on-fire issue of the day. Sheesh.

  182. test …..testing

  183. Hillary is the greatest statesman (stateswoman) of our time. McCain is one helluva guy, a real American hero. Obambi is a fraud, and a dangerous one at that.

    PUMA for McCain/Palin

  184. sm – I got it from moveon since i did not unsubscribe to anything. It’s good since it gives me a chance to respond to all of their feeble pleas for money and support ;)

  185. Oh – and I forwarded Bill’s CGI letter – two ways.

Good night all – nice day starting out with Hillary like that.
DNC: GIVE HER BACK TO US!!!

  186. This is the power of the people. Puma’s and Obama haters unite.

Regarding he actual overly reported “racism factor”….until now, I didn’t think that “bigotry” could have an upside.

  187. Love that poll. And you an bet your sweet a$$ that some of that 58% who say they support Obama really won’t and some of that 14% undecided aren’t really undecided but won’t say. All part of the “Obama effect”. And almost none of that is about racism of course. We know that. But the Obots refuse to hear that (fingers in ears, la la la) because if they understood it, they’d have to come to grips with the fact that they have, gasp, a crappy flawed candidate.

  188. I have two points to make. CNN, Time and the Washington Post/ABC polls are out . You should take these polls with a grain of salt. All three are in the tank for Obama, plus the Wsahington Post is so far out of line it is outrageous. My daily newspaper which is a right wing rag has been carrying every negative and misleading NYT’s an Washington Post articles. almost daily. Rasmussen’s tracking poll still has it at 48 to 48 tied. This election will be won by who wins two of these states, Michigan, Ohio, Pennslyvania and Florida, plus the republican attack machine has just got started.

  189. Thanks for posting that. This morning the news stations were gabbling about Obama’s huge leads in the Gallup daily tracking, WaPo, and other polls. Really — 9 to 10 percent is huge, that’s the GE!! I was skeered…
