Alter and Markos
We have known for months now that the media is completely in the tank for Obama. We have known for years that the media is nothing more than a mouthpiece for their corporate and government allies. The progressive blogosphere used to exist to counteract that before they were assimilated. But with the pick of Palin as VP for McCain, the Obama campaign got a little ahead of itself, spewing the vile misogynistic hatred they usually reserve for the media. First, there is Jonathan Alter from Newsweek:

You’re 72 now, a cancer survivor, and a presidential candidate who has said on many occasions that the most important criteria for picking a vice president is whether he or she could immediately step in if something happened to the president. Your campaign against Barack Obama is based on the simple idea that he is unready to be president. So you’ve picked a running mate who a year and a half ago was the mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, a town of 8,500 people. You’ve selected a potential leader of the free world who knows little or nothing about the major issues of the day beyond energy. Oh, and she’s being probed in her state for lying and abuse of power.
That is journalism? No, that is sophomoric mudslinging….something we used to expect from politicians, but not so much from the media. Now compare that to what professional asshole Bill Burton had to say soon after the announcement:
As the plane was lifting off from Denver, Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton issued a statement calling Palin an abortion-rights opponent and “the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience.”
Two of the talking points out of the chute are about her lack of experience–she was only the mayor of a small town, and knows nothing outside of Alaska politics. I guess they forgot that she is currently the governor of Alaska. And I suppose they never heard that one about glass houses either. People with paper thin resumes shouldn’t be throwing around accusations of inexperience. Palin, as governor, actually has more executive experience than either Obama or Biden. Then Alter goes that extra mile by throwing in the fact that McCain is a cancer survivor (gasp!), and that he’s really old. Burton later regained his composure and ammended his statement to congratulate Palin on her historic bid. In fariness his first outburst was natural, seeing as how he knew that the choice of Palin meant that they would lose in a monumental ass kicking the likes of which we haven’t seen since Mondale or Dukakis.
But they have saved the truly nasty rhetoric for the cheetoh boys. Take this diary from Kos (h/t to Ben Carlson, no link, google it):

Okay, I just have to diary about this, although in many ways this falls into the “none of our business category”.
But it appears that Pallin’s last child, a baby with Down’s syndrome, may not be hers. It may be that of her teenage daughter.
Not only is this kind of slander below even the most disgusting low-life freeper, it only gets worse in the comments sections.
I think the bigger story here is why Sara was (5+ / 0-)

doing Fetal Genetic Testing at 4 months. Was she considering an abortion potentially?
Usually this is a matter of privacy, but since she seems so ready to take away a women’s right to privacy, this is something that might need discussing.
Are there other reasons to do 4th month fetal genetic testing besides considerations of abortion?
So if you don’t agree with her politics its ok to speculate about the most obscene things and demand to know if she considered an abortion? They are even beginning a smear campaign to malign her for having a child at 44, putting her child at greater risk for Down syndrome. I guess they forgot that it is a woman’s CHOICE when and if she will be pregnant or not. Women, does that sound like a “progressive” message aimed at protecting your reproductive rights? Yeah, me neither.

Hi Gary & Mawm! It’s so fun to see the Pumamobile making it’s way across this great land of ours. I’ve traveled across the country by car a couple times, and it’s the best way to get a feel for the different regions, the diversity of cultures and people, and the power of the land.
I’m not surprised that the vitriol has now been aimed at Palin. My partner also had melanoma (and is cancer free). It’s scary, but when you survive it, you are stronger for it. What is it with cancer-as-stigma? I hope that one backfires.
As for Palin, she will survive the misogyny because she has conservative backing and they won’t be doing it. But this just brings out more and more the feminism in me that was always there. Attack, boys, because you aren’t pretty when you do. Go after her kids, her choice, her experience. All those years on the oil and gas commission in Alaska make her pretty damned experience, frankly. She has a pulse on energy policy (even if I don’t agree with her and her “there is no global warming caused by humans” stand) that Obama and Biden completely lack.

We may not agree with everything they believe, but remember what Big Dawg said at the convention.
And unlike Obama, McCain and Palin are authentic and I trust them and fell confident that they have America’s best interest at heart. I do not trust Obama at all.
Obama and the DNC stabbed Hillary Clinton and women in back. It is time for Hillary Clinton supporters to stand up with one lud voice and tell Obama and the DNC elites that we will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish, without a fight! That INKY99 is beyond the pale. I had a surprise pregancy @ 38. Did some of the testing, not all, knowing it would make no difference in the end. All women over 35 are encouraged to do this, because of the “advanced maternal age” (loved that phrase). Who the f*ck is this person to judge this woman’s CHOICE?
There are many, many reasons to get the tests. Wouldn’t you rather be prepared for what is about to happen if something is wrong? To me it is no different that finding out the baby’s sex. I was lucky, my son was born without any problems. She was lucky, she also has a beautiful son with so much potential.
