Obama’s Thesis and Charlotte PUMAs

OK, so supposedly Obama wrote a “thesis” in 1983 during his senior year at Columbia.  It was 25 pages long, took him a YEAR to write, and was on “Soviet Disarmament”.  Apparently it was so bad that it has now been disappeared by the professor who assigned it (who also happens to be an advisor to the campaign).  And a 25 page thesis??? When I was in school that was called a “paper” and I had about 3-4 due a semester.  Anyway, Contessa Brewer thinks this is all a bunch of nonsense, because who even remembers what they wrote in college anyway, right? She even suggests that if she had hers she would sell it on the Internet!! Here’s the video:

 

Now I recall a distinctly different reaction to Hillary Clinton’s senior thesis. The double standard applied here is amazing. This is what MSNBC had to say about Hillary’s thesis. While Barack’s thesis is just some paper he wrote, hers is on par with the Communist Manifesto.

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The senior thesis of Hillary D. Rodham, Wellesley College class of 1969, has been speculated about, spun, analyzed, debated, criticized and defended. But rarely has it been read, because for the eight years of Bill Clinton’s presidency it was locked away.

As forbidden fruit, the writings of a 21-year-old college senior, examining the tactics of radical community organizer Saul D. Alinsky, have gained mythic status among her critics — a “Rosetta Stone,” in the words of one, that would allow readers to decode the thinking of the former first lady and 2008 presidential candidate.

Of course, after stoking the fires when Hillary’s thesis was in question, the Obama campaign says that speculation over his college writings is beyond ridiculous.  Bill Burton responds:

The absurdity of spending any time discussing this issue on television at all makes it difficult to even respond to what you’ve done.  Even presenting a balanced argument of what is such a specious story does not do justice to the ridiculousness of giving this any oxygen whatsoever.

He seems a little touchy on the subject don’t ya think?

Carolina Panthers PUMAS

In other news PUMAs are on the prowl right here in North Carolina.  I always wondered why our NFL team was called the Carolina Panthers…It turns out they’re indigenous to the region.  Edgeoforever has the story at Not Your Sweetie.  The group that protested the event is called Charlotte Front and Center.  They greeted Dean on his “Obama Bus Tour ‘08″ and Dean was not very pleased!

Around two dozen Hillary Clinton supporters, some carrying signs saying “Dump Dean,” attempted to shout down Democratic national chairman Howard Dean during an appearance in Charlotte today.

The protesters, who described themselves as members of a group called “Charlotte Front and Center,” shouted and waved signs as Dean spoke to about 150 people at a voter registration rally on West Boulevard.

The demonstrators said they were protesting what they said was a decision not to put Clinton’s name in nomination at next month’s Democratic convention.

Dean was briefly drowned out by shouts such as “I own my vote.”

I’m gonna let these folks shout a little bit because I can’t hear you folks,” Dean said, pausing his speech for a short time.

“There will be a roll call vote at the convention if Hillary Clinton wants one,” he went on. “We all respect each other and we certainly respect Sen. Clinton. This is a unified party. It is not easy to be on the losing side and I know … because four years ago, I was on the losing side.”

The shouts continued intermittently. When Dean mentioned what he called “the biggest job for President Obama,” protesters shouted “He’s not president!”

According to the groups website (go visit and leave them some love!) their numbers were greatly underestimated.  And Howie, baby, nobody is fooled by that “roll-call” nonsense.  I think the best part was Dean’s response:

I’m not sure all of them are Clinton supporters,” he said. “I think some of them are having fun at the Democrats’ expense. I think shouting through somebody’s speech is low-class.”

No Howard, it’s called freedom of speech.  But then you wouldn’t know anything about that…elitist snob.   Here are some pictures from the event:

I guess Dean’s backwax left him a little cranky.  Let’s keep up the good work everybody.  They’re going to be shaking in their boots by the time the convention rolls around. GO PUMA!!!!
