**UPDATE WITH VIDEO**
Sorry this took so long, we have been travelling the Northeast like madmen and I am trying to get some news out before we leave for NYC. I’m not going to write much, just let the pictures speak for themselves. There was quite a lot of dissent at the rally. The Obama campaign people were rude and thugish (more to come on that). One quick note: The Obama campaign tried to have access to this event tightly controlled, but from our standpoint local law enforcement seemed to be doing everything it could to let those of us who wanted to protest “slip through the cracks”. We ended up being able to park right beside the event while the Obama people had to be bussed in from about 8 miles away. so special thanks to the Sullivan Co. Sherrif’s Dept, honorary PUMAS for a day
NOT!!!

Watch out for that bus!!!
PUMAS get ready for action
PUMAS were joined by anti-war protesters (at first we thought they were there to support him, but they were protesting him as well)–wasn’t the Iraq war supposed to be Barack’s strong point?? Guess not!!!

Sorry guys….still working on the video….hopefully I will have something up later today…
Filed under: General

Thanks so much, Gary and Mawm – these are great pictures, I can’t wait to see the video and I appreciate all you’ve done for PUMA!
Very nice job! Thanks for speaking for us in spite of all the obstacles the Unity pony threw at you. We’ll make sure everyone knows of this!
Gary and Mawm,
Bravo! Thanks for taking the time to give us a taste of what happened. I can’t wait to hear more, but I know you guys must be wiped out. Have a fabulous time at the parade!
Great Job! I wish I could have been there. I watched fox and cnn all day and evening but so absolutely no mention of any opposition to unity….but I knew you were there!
Good job guys!
Great pictures. My appetite is now officially whetted for more. Enjoy the parade.
[...] 28, 2008 · No Comments The Confluence has a few photos – and videos are upcoming – interesting how the media put a blackout on this! loved the anti-war [...]
I’m so thankful for your efforts …..the being there and the reporting from the ground !! Thanks guys!!
I promise, video is coming. I am not good at video editing, and my laptop is so old it is blowing up from the huge video files, I’m trying to figure out how to compress them so hopefully tonight I will figure something out….
Hi Gary! Great photos. Were there very many people clearly protesting?
there were quite a few…we weren’t the only group that was there…there was anti-war protesters, other groups of hillary supporters—and then there were the townspeople. they were not obama fans. The obama camp wanted to move us to “free speech zones” a la bush 2004 (I have video of that), but the cops wouldn’t enforce it. The cops were really working against the obama camps wishes when it came to us…..really cool. more to come….
Thanks, gary and mawm for representin’ in NH!
I’ve come to realize that the only way for us to get the real story of what’s going on is by attending events ourselves and reporting to the rest of the community. MSM is not up to the task of objective reporting anymore.
So kudos to you for making the trip and being our eyes and ears!
OMG, the police in Unity NH believe in equal protection under the law. How did the Obama camp deal with that concept?
Please know how very much your efforts are appreciated by all PUMAs. You two are a great example of people who refuse to allow themselves to be shut-up or shut-down.
Our founding fathers and mothers would be very proud of you and of PUMA.
Three cheers for the co-commanders of the Rebel Alliance!
( I can’t remember if I stole the “Rebel Alliance” line from Kim or SM. Either way, you’ll note that when I steal a line, I steal from some of the best.)
and you have to realize how remote this location is…it is about a hours from NYC or Boston. single road that was blocked off, I’d say the entire rallywas only couple of thosand max….all bussed in by the obama campaign. there were probably about 50 or so protesters that I saw, so pretty good given where it was held. We were VERY loud too, and the police let us stand right where the line was forming to go in.. the Obama people wanted to move us about 1/4 mile down the road to a “free speech area” where noone could see us. the local police wouldn’t enforce it.
4 hours…
I have to say, I am very impressed with the people of NH. They get it when it comes to things like free speech, right to assemble…..as their state motto says, “Live free or die”…great place
Bravo! Gary and Mawm! I envy you. I am itching to go to Denver. I may have to find a way somehow. Thanks for going, and for recording the event.
Thanks Gary & Mawn for representing “US” in Unity!
I can’t wait to see “mawn” on FOX TV, I missed it live!
CNN quickly & briefly showed 1-conflict but dropped it.
If “Calypso” is still on here’s the #’s again for Gov. Rendell, his office forwarded my call to the PA democratic office #717-920-8470

My original post was on “hound” @ 9:55am, I gave some other #’s also. Hope it helps
GO PUMAs!!
you can’t really tell in that last pic, but while hillary was speaking obama was sitting beside her on a stool slightly behind her. It really looked like he was a ventriloquist and she was a doll that he was controlling…..I wonder if that was on purpose, or if he was just too tiiiireeedd to stand up the whole time…
Many thanks to you Gary (and Mawm – you rocked on teevee!).
I’m proud to know we have you two representing The Confluence with such spirited passion, commitment and intelligence. We’re indeed a fortunate bunch.
Thanks, Gary and Mawm, for being our eyes and ears!

The police’s attitude suggest to me the BO front people were asses as well ….no surprise there.
However they do take freedom seriously . Imagine!
The Obama people have every reason to be worried about their own brownshirt followers actions as well as PUMA! ….Funny location to hold a rally otherwise.
Really it seems it was a photo op than rally.
thanks for the article and pictures

go pumas
thanks Gary and Mawm for your great work! And thanks RD for an excellent response to Gov. Rendell’s letter. RD, you really hit all the points!
Proud to be a PUMA!
Gary and Mawm: You guys are fantastic!
Thank you so much for going and posting
these pictures. This what real unity looks like.
The expression on your face, Mawm, says it all.
Puma, Puma, Puma . . .
Thanks Gary (and Mawm – saw you live), isn’t is funny how your story & pictures are completely different from the MSM – hopefully everyone (besides the bots) will pass on the correct info from that phony balony ununited show – I still can’t figure out what is going on – is there something still waiting in the wings – why are hillary supporters swallowing the kool aid & accepting the 2nd class citizen treatment & the sexism, the vile behavior, acting like stepford wives – this is really starting to scare me some – what kind of blackmail is there??? or is that too paranoid????
btw – my newspaper – Mpls Star Trib had article under the fold about the big unity party which continued to the inside on pg 2 – right next was article from WaPo by Kevin Meridia about discontent – still insists that PUMA means Party Unity My Ass – catchier title I believe – not quite a rerun of original article but does give us some more publicity…………………………
Gary and Mawm, I felt so proud to be able to tell my *** supporting friends that PUMA was there and that “unity” is an illusion. They are constantly amazed that we continue to stand and fight and will not cave to their whining. It frightens them as much as Senator Clinton does. Thank you both so very much.
Gary, Mawn, you are the best! Thanks so muchfor this.
Gary,
I thought that was extremely disrespectful of Barack to sit down while Hillary was speaking. He wasn’t even sitting up straight. He was slumped over with his legs spread. He’s so full of himself. When he spoke, Hillary was standing up beside him.
This is SOOOOO kewl … the MSM didn’t even mention protesters at the event!
I’d like to see ask a question … I got the Unity email from hillary’s campaign yesterday … are any of you de-registering so Obama doesn’t get your info? I know my donations are public information, but I really don’t want Obama spam in my mailbox. Being multi-trolled on my blog and the DNC crap is bad enough!
I would not unsubscribe from Hillary’s list because I want to stay in touch with her.
Great work, gary and Mawm!
Thank you, Gary and Mawm. What a great job you’ve done these past months.
Again, thank you.
What people aren’t mentioning is that John Kerry handed
the Obama Campaign his list months ago, that had a large
value (I got a mailing from Obama via Kerry). I don’t want
to be handed over to Obama as he has not addressed the
issues of his campaign’s misogyny nor his own.

Thanks guys for being there. I wish I could have gone, but I couldn’t get off work!! I hope that it went well.
What exactly was the anti-war people’s objection to Obama? Was it his voting to pay the Iraq war? Was it his vote for the Bush/Chaney 2005 energy bill, and the likelihood that this policy will keep us in Iraq?
Obama is a bought and marketed corporate suit. Look at his flipped positions on FISA, NAFTA, and Campaign Finance just in the last week. It wouldn’t surprise me if he flips on Iraq as well. The ground work seems to be already laid.
Watching what is happening to this country right in front of our eyes is frightening. We had a chance to restore our country with Senator Clinton, and now we are looking at an inexperenced empty suit that is completely corporate controlled.
Just wait and see how many nuclear reactors General Electric will litter the landscape with under either Obama or McCain. Clinton’s plan would have moved us to clean energy much faster, but corporations would loose money, so we continue to kill the planet . Its not a surprise that General Electric has stopped making appliences. They are licking their chops to start building nuclear power plants accross the country. I hear NM is one of the first places where they intend to build. Surprise, surprise!!! It explains more than a little about Gov. Bill Richardson’s motivations for jumping onto the Obama/GE train. FOLLOW THE MONEY!!!!!!!
Give me a break. I was there too, and I am a die hard Hillary supporter. I wore a Hillary t-shirt, and two Obama vols said they were glad I was there when they saw it.
I may not like Obama, but I believe in Hillary. If she wants me to vote for him, I’m going to consider it.
Glad to hear about the PUMAs in NH, also the local police.

not that you’re a liar, but that pantsuit might be on fire …..
that pic I posted of one of our PUMAS being harassed–she was about 5 ft and tiny as a bird, but they had to have TWO bigger men come and harass her. They threw her out, leaving her daughter and a friend inside. I have more stills and video–even though there were many other handmade signs (it wasn’t that they were anti obama, they said the rule was no handmade signs, although they were obviously selectively enforcing that.
Suggestions to Ed rendell to improve our chances in 2012-and get me back under the tent:
1. All primaries are winner take all
2. All states that have Caucuses must hold a winner take all primary where 1/2 +1 of there total delegate allocation is at stake.
3. All caucus delegates will be apportioned by the number of partisipants who choose a candidate on the first round. No delegates will be apportioned on any subsiquent rounds of caucusing. this will require the states of Iowa Maine and Washington and Nevada counting the actual total number of partisipants.
(I think those are the evil four that do not do this)
4. Causus state that refuse to hold a primary under the condition of # 3 above surrender their 1/2 +1 delegates that they are required to be selected under this process. These delegates will be awarded to the primary candidate who recieves the most popular “primary votes” in all the primaries.
5. The DNC nor any of its committee’s will set a state primary/caucus schedule. Any causus or primary held before the first Tuesday in January of an election year will be null and void. Their delegations will be apportioned at the end of the primary season. Their delegates will be awarded to the candidate with the highest popular “primary total” of votes.
5. Candidates will not be allowed to campaign in any state or territory holding a primary or caucus before the first Tuesday in January during an election year.
6. While the democratic party acknowledges the historical significance of Iowa and New Hampshire going first in the nomination we will not in the future take any position that supports a primary calendar that ensures the persumed “special status” of these states.
7. the Democratic party(DNC) nor the RBC will ever again strip a state of its entire delegation. Only the sanctions promugated above can be leveled by the party.
8. No primary candidate who removes his name from the ballot on a state that is sanctioned (or that violates any of the above rules) will be awarded any delegates from that state at the end of the primary season.
9.If A candidate who removes his name from a ballot at the end of the primary season has the most ppopular “primary votes” they will get none from the states where thir name did not appear on the ballot. The candidate with the next highest total of the popular primary votes will get those delegates.
10. The number of Superdelegates must be no more than 535+ 50+ 15 for a total of 600. These super-delegates can not vote on the first 3 ballots. If no clear winner appears then on the forth and all following ballots the Super Delegates may vote. I super-delegate who votes for a candidate who looses a general election will not be allowed superdelegate status again for the next 12 years-regardless of their position in the party.
Unlike Martin Luther-I only have ten “thesis” to propose
These are my modest proposals I sumbitt them to you at the conflu first for comment. I am looking for constructive critique here I hope you all will comment.

You might investigate Obama and see if this is the kind of person who is worthy of being president of the U.S. We know that the media wants to sell him to us (Media – 3 (Bush over Gore, Bush over Kerry, Iraq); People – 0.)
From the font page of Boston Globe:
excerpt….
(The video shows angry tenants and how cheaply the buildings were constructed and how negligently they were managed.]
As a state senator, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee coauthored an Illinois law creating a new pool of tax credits for developers. As a US senator, he pressed for increased federal subsidies. And as a presidential candidate, he has campaigned on a promise to create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund that could give developers an estimated $500 million a year.
But a Globe review found that thousands of apartments across Chicago that had been built with local, state, and federal subsidies – including several hundred in Obama’s former district – deteriorated so completely that they were no longer habitable.
Grove Parc and several other prominent failures were developed and managed by Obama’s close friends and political supporters. Those people profited from the subsidies even as many of Obama’s constituents suffered. Tenants lost their homes; surrounding neighborhoods were blighted.

“You’re on my plane”
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2008/06/28/clinton_obama_unity/?source=newsletter
But the moment truly fraught with symbolism came early Friday morning when Obama and Clinton came onto his campaign plane, after arriving at Washington’s Reagan National Airport in separate Secret Service motorcades. As they walked down the aisle (no metaphors intended here) Obama put a light hand on Clinton’s back guiding her toward a row of seats on the left front of the plane. The message in that small gesture said it all — “You’re my guest and you’re on my plane.”
Obama, in addition to auditioning vice presidents, needs two things from Clinton — an end to the story line about Democratic disunity (note that pesky New Hampshire dateline) and assistance in winning over the hardcore Hillaryites who appear to have puzzled the Obama campaign with their reluctance to rally around the de facto nominee.

That infuriates me!!! I was at the big RNC protest of Bush in Manhattan and the way the police handled that week was apalling! Obama = Bush Jr II
waldenpond…. Clearly, you have trouble reading. I said I would CONSIDER it. That doesn’t mean I’m going to do it. Furthermore, I was wearing only a Hillary shirt, no Obama button, nothing. Not sure how they would make the leap that I was voting for Obama based on that, but okay.
Rmember Hillary only asked we re-consider not supporting Obama and voting for McCain. What she did not say was “I strongly ask you to re-.consider.” nor did she say “I disavow (or denounce) my supporters who are voting for McCain…” she did not throw her McCain supporters under the bus.
Also she did not address any of the Clinton Supporters that were thinking of staying home in November, voting for 3rd party candidates, or writing in Her name. I think that is strange any one agree?
I see a coded message in that speech by our Hillary or am i in left field?
Fuzzybeargville
The Obama camp’s Swiftboating of the Clintons on race was the most disgusting display of Right Wing dirty tricks since CREEP.
Primaries should be closed as well. Where nominations were open, Obama “volunteers” were passing out
registration forms to register for a day to vote against the Clintons and handed
forms to re-register Republican the next day. Rove manipulated the vote to bring Republicans to vote for Obama.
http://www.thecityedition.com/Pages/Archive/Winter08/2008Election.html
Gary: let me know when you’re going to be in the NYC/NJ area. Maybe I can meet you somewhere. BTW, MAWM did a great job on Fox. You guys do us proud.
Only a Hillary shirt?
No pants?
The Obama people have been all over the LSU campuses trying to register students to vote. I noticed in baton rouge on friday that a huge number of them were actually registering republican. i wonder if the acorn folks will conveniently loose their voter registrations.
they’ve also been hanging out in the grocery store lots here in New Orleans … i think they’re trying to do a huge GOTV of the AA vote here ..
Michael P Varvel saud: “Also she did not address any of the Clinton Supporters that were thinking of staying home in November, voting for 3rd party candidates, or writing in Her name. I think that is strange any one agree? ”
I don’t think the voters who stay home hurt Obama since they expect low Republican turnout. A vote for a 3rd party candidate could help Obama and in some states writting in her name is the same as voting for Obama since they are both Dems. Only a vote for McCain is guarenteed to be a vote against Obama.
CB-
- thank you but is it in the DNC power to make states “close their primaries” ? Maybe we could allocate 1 delegate in each open primary stater to represent the crossover voters who switch from republican, independent , ect who cross party lines to vote in primaries?
Or we could sanction those open primary states with losing 1/2 their delegation to be awarded after the primary season to the candidate who got the most popular vote in the primaries.
fuzzybeargville
The only way I would ever consider voting for Obama would be if Hillary was the VP candidate. Even then I am not sure I would do it. The VP has little or no power and if they did not win in November it would reflect on any run Hillary might try in 2012. The most important thing that we must consider is not the political party, but our country. I consider Obama a danger and before his term was over, we would be considered a third world country.
michael P Varvel, you are out in left field. She referenced everything that you mentioned.

“And to anyone who voted for me, and is now considering not voting, or voting for Senator McCain, i strongly urge you to reconsider.”
I think the cat is out of the proverbial bag. NOBODY was fooled by this atrocious display. It was so obviously an attempt to tighten the ‘leash’ on Hillary, even the idiot pundits were uncomfortable about it. Keep it up, people! I will continue to be an outspoken PUMA!
NH I agree with you but in some cases in Ohio and PA and FLorida low voter turn out among democrats work against Obama-these are moderate states where the republicans are energized by their first candidate that was not picked by the religious right….

There are many of us here who cannot do that. I hope there will be an alternative come November. Otherwise, I’ll have to write in Hillary or stay home.
I don’t see how voting for a third party candidate would help Obama since I’d never vote for McCain in the first place; it wouldn’t be like my McCain vote was being withheld from him.
I’ve always been a registered Dem and voted straight party ticket.
*Also worth noting*–I have conversations daily with many die-hard Republicans (just part of my job), and the overwhelming feeling is a complete turnaround in the feeling for Hillary. She has gained TREMENDOUS respect from former Republican Hillary-haters just because of her extraordinary grace and composure during the most ugly treatment of a primary candidate anyone has ever seen. Dignity speaks far louder than any microphone at a dog-and-pony show rally.
pants suit I guess I missed it my “man ears” doing some misoginistic editing? sorry I found her voice and body language in total opposition to what she was saying. she would not have passed a polygraph test yesterday.

Hey Riverdaughter. Thanks for the photos! I saw this on Nightline last night and my mother was sooo angry! She thinks Hillary is being forced by the DNC to put up with this farce to help Obama fool her supporters into voting for him. NEVER! Part 2: Obama’s Conservative Meeting Guests–The Pastors
Just posted today….more of the big wheels who attended Obama’s meeting with conservative/religious leaders….
Part 1 focuses on th non-pastors….
Keep informed!!
Pantsuit,
Couldn’t you tell that Hillary was a bit less than enthused? She is held hostage over her debt and is at Obama’s mercey to help get it paid. I heard Bill Clinton is at least for new staying right away from Obama.
Obama went out of his way to race bait , engage in sexism and trash everything Clinton. He told these 25 year old kids, who are too young to remember the Clintons with any clarity, that they were horrible republicans who were a dynasty that had to be stopped. He used sexist stereotypes to encourage male youth to hate Hillary. This was clear from the misogynistic vitriol displayed in the bloggeshere by Obama supporters. Many of their hate filled remarks about hillary came directly from comments made by Obama. He vilified both Clintons beyond belief. Now he and the party hold Hillary hostage over her debt. I am sure that she will hide in the back ground of this campaign as soon as she possibly can.
As far as I am concerned the Clintons were the best thing this country has seen in 40 years!!!! What a shame that the corporations bought the party and have deprived the people of peice and prosparity once again. At least the Clintons always believed in investing in the people, including the working class. I wish these kids could understand that instead of being all rapped up in the “cult of personality”.
Also, why have your blog hits gone down over the last several days? I thought you were close to having 2 million hits.
P.U.M.A.: we don’t want to curb your enthusiasm but I would encourage you to rethink your use of Obama’s middle name. He seems to be sensitive about it and we don’t want our protest to be subsumed under an ocean of petty tit-for-tats that such a reference might provoke in the Obamaphiles. When we punch them, we want it to be right in the kisser not below the belt.
I am in a job whee I have to read body language allong with what is being said so I sometimes get distracted by body language that is contrary to what the speaker is saying…that is what I am seeing form yesterday -
by the way Pantsuit-what do you think of my 10 thesis above?
fuzzybeargville-
SweetieSue,
Each of us must vote our conscience. I respect that. I would rather not vote for McCain myself.
Dis- e just wnt over 1 million hits last sunday-there was a missquote about us over at one of the other sites saying we had a 2m hits-probably a typo….so in last 6 days we added 230k more hits. I saw the typo too we will get to 2 m hits long before OBambi seals the nomination in Denver….

Interesting about the local authorities. NH is well known for its independent streak. i think McCain will take that easily.

Michael P Varvel,
Yes, I do like Hireheel, but I only recently discovered the site from JustSayNoDeal. I guess we will see Princess on Good Morning America this Sunday ?
Micheal – i saw the vid on hireheel & also on uppity woman’s site – mentioned it on pumapac and said should send to the “bad boys” – middle age female sent an email to them with a link to the vid – watch fox & see if any of them bit…………………………..
Hi all! I don’t comment very often but I lurk a lot. I’d rather comment when I have something interesting to say. Today, I do. I’m actually travelling, so I’ll try to be brief.
A couple days ago, I got e-mails from my local Democratic district inviting me to a meeting about election fraud where some films would be shown. I responded that they should be covering the election fraud of 2008 Democratic primary mentioning the caucus specifically (I live in a caucus state), and I signed the response, “P.U.M.A.”
The second e-mail invited me to a meet and greet of judicial nominees. I responded that I was going to be a “Republican for a Day” on November 4 and signed the response, “P.U.M.A.”
Well, I got a call from the district Chairman who wanted to chat. I’m sure you can guess what we chatted about, too long to go into here, but there were two significant things about the chat. First of all, he never asked me what “P.U.M.A.” was, so I guess we are pretty well known.
The second interesting thing was that I mentioned that I felt the Obama supporters “stormed” the caucus by entering in a large group and overwhelming the registration table so that their voter registration and eligibility could not be verified. He said that he didn’t feel that it happened that way, because it was not necessary!!! He said that he had received orders from “very high up” and then he said all the way from the DNC that there was to be no eligibility verification at the caucuses. He said that they threatened to strip delegates if the DNC rules were not followed.
He said the reason for this was that they were afraid that some legitimate voters might be disenfranchised by late registration because the records would not be up to date, so the decision was made to let anybody and everybody come in and vote in the caucuses.
I just wanted to share that with all of you. It explains a lot about what we saw at the caucuses.
Now that Hillary has toed the line and gotten on board, Obama needs someone to blame for his loss so it will be Bill – and white racists – which we now know includes the Big Dawg.
Dang, I used the r word! A little slow this Saturday and now stuck in moderation.
Jmac it includes me too i guess…; )>

This woman really gets it. I feel just as she does.
luv me some Bill — he’s a big ole cat in big dawg clothing!
PUMAs are going to be the lead media story for the summer – we have to roar and growl louder than ever.
I love Bill, but I hate those articles that are full of anonymous quotes and faux horror at his behavior.
That stuff might all have been planted by Obama bots as part of the “Bill is out of control” campaign.
I believe bill is a puma at heart, though I expect he will bow to the party line pretty soon. that being said, the uk article was like tabloid journalism (surprise, surprise, but even more so than usual for the msm) and had some pretty obvious rac baiting. bill demanding some respect does not mean obama is a “house boy” or whatever that disgusting language the article used is. it means that bill is a 2 term former president who was trashed and called a racis and who had to watch his lovely wife be smeaed and slandered. now he wants some dam respect before being expected to bow down the selected one. go bill!
Plural – let the Obamabots TRY to corral Bill Clinton.
That’s like trying to put a hurricane in a bag.
Bill Clinton is a force of nature, a true hero who has the battle scars and victories to prove his strength.
SM, yes he is a force of nature.
But one of Obama’s chief campaign points is slandering Bill — which is one BIG reason I would never vote for Obama.
Why are the Republicans so much better at honoring their former presidents? The Cult of Reagan is way over the top, but surely there’s some middle ground.
janicen, that is fascinating, just fascinating. I watched the presidents men on my plane ride back to the states recently, it is about how woodward and bernstein astwo novice reporters brok watergate. they started by just making cold calls and seeing what little bits of info people would leak. that’s te kind of effort we need to get info about how this went down. the caucus guidelines janicen speaks of were obviously meant to help bo. we need to create a network of people who can start gently prodding state dem committees to start unraveling the real story.
It’s strange the way so many blogs are overlooking the “audacity of hypocrisy”. Had Clinton gotten the nomination she would have been able to stay true to her primary run.
Plural – they have always slandered Bill.
But that’s ok, because that’s why PUMAs are outraged – like Flavor Flav sang with Public Enemy, “Don’t Believe the Hype!”
Obama worshipped Reagan, I ask myself why didn’t he run as a Republican instead? Obama is more of Neo-Con than a Democrat anyways.
Some are blaming Bill’s ‘behavior’ on his heart operation.
I think the Democratic party needs a heart operation. They abandoned principle for a media star who they think has deep pockets. But $$ doesn’t win elections, voters win elections.
Thanks, jj. I thought it was fascinating too. The man said that in all the years he’s worked for the party, he’s never seen them so strict about the rules. He said they made it very clear that if there was any attempt to change or not follow the rules, the district would be stripped of all of its delegates.
Obama said Reagan changed the country.
You bet he changed the country — he sent it off in a completely wrong direction, on the environment among many other things. Everything Jimmy Carter tried to do was blocked, and the environmental agencies were sidelined and made not just ineffective but a laughing stock.
Now we’re in a mess, and Obama’s praising Reagan. I guess it’s just another indication that he doesn’t have a clue.
SM:
This is different. The GOP and the media has always slandered Bill Clinton.
But Democrats never did.
Reagan didn’t run a dirty campaign like Obama. Reagan and Clinton both ran clean campaigns.
janicen, I would urge you to email larry johnson with ll the info you have like wich state, etc. though no quarter is controversial, larry seemsto have an impressive network of contacts and that may be a good ay of digging deeper and learning more about other ways the dnc tiped the scales. with just this, we don’t have a compeling picture of tipped scales, but this would give larry something to ask hs contacts about and some context for digging around.
Good idea, jj. I will.
From that article on Bill: “”He’s saying he’s not going to reach out, that Obama has to come to him. One person told me that Bill said Obama would have to quote kiss my ass close quote, if he wants his support. “You can’t talk like that about Obama – he’s the nominee of your party, not some house boy you can order around.”‘
Now, something is going on here with this unnamed senior Democrat giving blind quotes that use racially charged language to make accusations against Bill Clinton. Enough of this already.
It’s just infuriating. Here they go AGAIN calling Bill a rac1st, effectively. I’m starting to wonder if Team Obama is deliberately acting like complete jerks to Hillary and Bill and all their supporters, including the fundraisers. Passive-aggressively get plenty of them to NOT help you, so you can leave them out in the cold later without a second thought. Assuming they have a plan to raise shitloads of money on their own and can afford to do that.
Personally, I think that the anti-Bill stuff by Obama during the primary (sic) season was purposeful. I think it was to attrack cross-over votes from Republicans that hate the Clintons. I think he was trying to get them to switch parties to vote against Hillary so he could come through. I will argue to the day I die that it was an Axelrod strategy.
Hope everyone goes back upthread to read janicen’s report. It’s a very important piece of the puzzle and certainly does explain a lot about the miscarriage of democracy at the caucuses!
gary & MAWM, great report & pics/video! Thanks!!
Thank you Mawm and Gary. The lady in the video tells it like it is and in simple, rational terms. We should get these well spoken people to become activists and talk on behalf of PUMA.
On another note, as a commenter up thread said, PUMA should have representatives attending every major event especially where Hillary is involved and report back the TRUTH.
Two Saturday observations:
1. PUMAs are more energized than the Obama Fanclub, it rather feels like. The fanclub seems ill-equipped to deal with anything that isn’t fawning adoration of the Dear Leader. In particular, I think they’re not dealing well with dissent in the camp over FISA. That was such a spectacularly weasel-like (possum-like?) sellout, they’re having a hard time processing the cognitive dissonance. I love the “don’t bring it up” strategy almost as much of the “eh, I never really cared about the Fourth Amendment anyway” strategy.
2. Bloggers who have had personality transplants are giving me the creeps. I was reading one in particular this morning — he used to be so witty, and now he’s just… weird. Does your style change when you sell out to Jr? Do you lose your snap? Maybe it was the instantaneous 180 degree turn that did it. I’m honestly wondering if it’s the same person, or if the owner of the site gave the account over to a new blogger. It’s not even that he’s that much in the can for Jr, it’s that he’s become so wishy-washy about it and so self-important to boot. It’s great to be in the winning boy’s club, ain’t it! Maybe he’ll get on one of the MSNBC tabloid shout-downs now! Oy. The personality transplant. I’m not getting that one.
pantsuit: I think you have to understand some context here. Obama supporters come to proHillary sites continually and say really outrageous things. I’m sorry you were caught in a backlash. I think some times it’s just a knee jerk reaction to be on the defensive because it’s gotten so ugly here in byteland. I know I’m not voting for Obama, but I have no idea where to go from there …
“He said the reason for this was that they were afraid that some legitimate voters might be disenfranchised by late registration because the records would not be up to date, so the decision was made to let anybody and everybody come in and vote in the caucuses.”
That’s a bunch of BS, they wanted to be sure Obama was able to get the majority of caucus delegates. If they were truly concerned about voters being disenfranchised there would be no caucuses.
And, I wonder if the Dem chair is still supporting Obama knowing the mandate from the higher ups.

I think Democrats stance is to not to check IDs — because many voters may not have a driver’s license and such. But their voter registration info has to be verified — that is, the person presenting themselves to vote/caucus has to give a residential address and a name in that county/precinct — isn’t that right (of course, they may not be the person they say they are because the ID is not checked)? Are you saying that even the minimum check of name and residency requirement was not done?
pantsuit,
Many of us are undecided about what we will do too. Just what gives you the right to come in here and start throwing your weight around–judging people you know nothing about? And stop with the insults, or your comments will be deleted. Frankly, I think it’s probably time you started your own blog and stopped posting your long irrelevant comments here.
EXACTLY.
They attack the pride lion who led us to safe and prosperous pastures.
Although there will be Hillary supporters who will now vote for Obama, I cannot do that. I am deeply troubled by Obama’s character, his lack of any record of accomplishments, his lack of core values, his flip flops on just about anything and everything and the long parade of associations with nefarious if not downright criminal individuals.
I believe, as do many other PUMAs, that Obama stole the nomination by fanning the race card, manipulating the media and fixing the caucuses.
One does judge an individual by his/her associates, their past history and what kind of qualities they inspire in others.
So I say, once again, no Obama, not now, not ever.
Gary & Mawm, I’m so glad that you are back here at the Confluence after yesterday’s technological disconnection! I can’t wait to see and read more when you are able to relate it! Thanks for all you have done!
That’s what he told me, pm317. There was to be no verification of voter registration or whether they even lived in the precinct.
Like he said, they felt that the records they had were “not the most up to date” so they feared telling someone who was legitimately registered that they were not eligible so they opted for not verifying anyone.
If you think about it, have we heard of very many or any instances of people being told they could not participate because they were not registered voters? I haven’t heard of any of that.
I’m sorry I won’t respond, I really am travelling and I have to get going now. I’ll be back later this evening.
pm317n that is exactly why janicens story is sooo interesting. there have been many many reports across the web from people who say anyone was aloud to walk into their caucus wit zero verifcation. in many cases regstration was no verified so it would have been easy to bus nonresidents in. this iswhy I think we really need to come up wit a strategy for talking to state party members and leadership to get a better sense of what happened. tx is a good example, I have heard that the state dem party refusedto investigate the 2000 or so claims od caucus fraud and later there were some strange things that happened with the state party super votes…what happened there? there are a lot of unanswered questions and no one at the national level will talk.
Alice….
“The fanclub seems ill-equipped to deal with anything that isn’t fawning adoration of the Dear Leader.”
Shallowness has no depth, right? So, when you take away the energy of the shallow enthusiasm, ya got nuthin’.
“Bloggers who have had personality transplants are giving me the creeps. I was reading one in particular this morning — he used to be so witty, and now he’s just… weird. Does your style change when you sell out to Jr?”
Yes, until an exorcism is performed. Only then is there hope. B^)
Thank you Riverdaughter for your blog, your excellent writing, and the great posts you feature. I am also part of pumapac when it first got started and visit just saynodeal, hireheels, and the other puma sites. I have emailed your blog to friends to encourage them to read you–I hope others who enjoy your blog also do the same because I think right now it’s all about keeping the momentum going and getting more people on the puma blogs. A growing increase of hits will call attention to the PUMA cause by the msm.
That would be the equivalent of putting an infant behind the wheel while the parent sits in the rear child safety seat.
DancesWithPumas, love it! It would be great to hear one of the PUMA spokespeople say that the next time the press asks them the same old question: would you vote for O if Hillary is VP?
Michael, I think you’re on the right track. But I would go even further. Throw out caucuses altogether. Throw out superdelegates altogether. Just have winner take all primaries, like the Republicans. They’ve never had the absurd mess we find ourselves in precisely because that’s how they do it. And another thing that makes it superior is the fact that it is so similar to the Electoral College system. Obama supposedly won in a system that will ber nothing like what he faces in November. Hillary would have won with a winner take all system, and she would almost certainly win in November. Our primary system should mirror what will give us a winning GE candidate, not an illegitimate affirmative action candidate.
Gary and Mawm, thank you, thank you, thank you! I’ve been eagerly awaiting your report and your videos. This report is well worth the wait. I love the reaction of the police in Unity and the people of the town. Sounds like they resent being used by Obama!
Gary,
Did you suspect/detect any BO supporters representing themselves as Hillary supporters (who are now “united” with the BO campaign)? Wouldn’t surprise me in the least. Dubya all over again, I’m tellin’ ya.
HAS ANYONE NOTICED THAT SUDDENLY CHRIS MATTHEWS (NO RELATION) HAS TAKEN TO PRAISING HILLARY EFFUSIVELY? ME THINKS HE IS BECOMING DISILLUSIONED WITH HIS PRINCE CHARMING OBAMA. HAS HE INVITED ANYONE FROM PUMA OR ANY OTHER OF THESE PRO HILLARY SITES? WE NEED TO MAKE AS MANY TV APPEARANCES AS POSSIBLE TO KEEP US IN THE PUBLIC EYE UNTIL NOV.

please support this statement re mccain with some documenting facts
“He’s against equal pay for women.”
I would like to know why you believe that.
http://www.slate.com/blogs/blogs/xxfactor/archive/2008/04/24/mccain-for-equal-pay-um-no.aspx
i am sick and tired of hearing the msm keep saying that hillary supporters are going over to obama in droves. i dont believe this for a minute. they are just trying to make us think that so the rest of us will just follow along like a bunch of sheep. they underestimate us (as usual) and will learn the hard way come nov .too bad we cant get a class action suit against the likes of chris mathews, k olbermann and jack cafferty (among the worst). gloria alred are you listening?
“You can’t talk like that about Obama – he’s the nominee of your party, not some house boy you can order around.”‘
And Bill Clinton is a FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, so pucker the fuck up, pal.
Looks as if I logged in just in time to be lectured by somebody named “pansuit”. Give it a rest, lady. The people on this blog know exactly what we are doing and what we are about.
PUMA will be seated at the table or die trying. We love Hillary, but reform is on our minds. We will not let what has happened go unchallenged.
Bill Clinton is the ma!!!!!. President Clinton should stay clear of Obama and ride out the storm. A lot of people love both Clintons even if the corporate media doesn’t. The corporate media’s dislike of the Clintons is what makes me believe in part that it is the Clintons who are the honest brokers. If they were sell-outs, as Obama seems to be, I’m sure the media would love them. No doubt Hillary’s position on the Bush/Chaney 2005 energy bill has a lot to do with MSNBC/General Electric’s contempt for her.
The Clintons believe in investing in human capital and genuinely care about the future of this country and all its people. This is why the working class loves them, and not because they are racist as claimed by the Obama camp, MSNBC and CNN.
The corporate push of Obama should make everyone take pause. Its an energy war out there and how we deal with it will determine our fate. Hillary always had the right ideas. Obama is much more in line with corporate interests, rather than human and envirenmental interests. Just ask RFK Jr.!!! This is the battle we face at this time in history. When the lesser of the evils has given away the store, its time to refocus our energy on shaping a new kind of opposition to corporate take over. I wish President Clinton had focused more on media regulation during his terms.
The media is now so monopilzed by the same corporations that it has seriously compromised our democracy and has whole sale manipulated the election process. I know that much of this occurred under Bush, but it was Clinton who appointed Michael Powell to the FCC. Under the Bush administation, Powell did a lot of bad things that erroded safe guards that were previously in place.
Now the Media (the 4th arm of government that was meant to inform) has become the main instrument of corporate take over through wide spread public brain washing. We live in scary times!!!!!
b matthews: He can afford to be kind to her now, he was instrumental in forcing her out of the race.
When Gore conceded in 2000, Matthews was effusive in his praise, calling his concession speech one of the best ever.
Of course for months he did nothing but trash and ridicule Gore but now that he was officially out he could afford to be “nice”.
I had the same experience at my caucus as Janicen.
I’m sorry, but making people sign a list with their address and name is NOT verifying their registration. And that’s what happened at our caucus. Just a name and address, nothing more. Many of us had our voter registration cards out and expected to have to show them. Boy were we surprised.
And the caucus started at, 12 I think. I got there at 11, as advised by the Hillary campaign, and already the whole thing was taken over and controlled by Obats. Even the precinct chair person, who is supposed to at least appear neutral, was wearing an BZero t-shirt. As I understand it, they were told to get there even earlier than required so they could ‘control’ the process. And control it they did.
The chairlady failed to note down the names and addresses of the Clinton delegates elected. She promised to do it ‘later’ when I complained. So I did it. Then, she had to give us these slips of paper which informed us of where to go for the next level of convention, the county convention. But, of course, we Hillary delegates didn’t get those. I got one, but only because, after most of the Hillary people had left (the Oblahma people were still sorting themselves out) I noticed the slips she was handing out and asked her what they were.
None of the other Hillary delegates elected at the local precinct caucus showed up to the county convention. Only me with my slip of paper. There were two people who had volunteered as alternates who had also received the slips of paper. THEY showed up. Make your own inferences.
I won’t even talk about the County Convention except to say that was what made me a PUMA. Nothing Bzero does can erase what his people did at these conventions…
OT, Is anyone reading our book? It’s really good.
NewHampster proposed maybe we have a page for the book confluence for people who miss it when it is on the front page.
I’m watching “Primary Colors” right now (and drinking beer) which is loosely based on Bill Clintons 1992 campaign.
It’s complete fiction, but John Travolta nails Bill and despite his obvious human failings you can’t help but love “Gov. Stanton.”
Oh Lawd, panstuit chic??? Can these people give it a rest?
Did you hear about Gov Rendell’s ridiulous HOUNDS?
pm317- I’m in the state of washington. this was my 1st caucas, moved here from Ca.
The caucas set up was the most ridiculous mickey mouse set up i have ever seen… there were 5 precincts where i was at, nobody checked anything. the same person could have gone to all 5 precincts and signed up, and they most likely did. it was crazy, the obama people were running around with an authoritarian air about them, and they were mainly men in their 20’s.
since then, i always felt it was rigged, now i know it was…
The Obamaphilic “San Francisco Chronicle” has a blurb from Lordstown, Ohio.
McCain chastised BO and called for face-to-face townhall meetings after being asked about a report that his rival claimed that if McCain is elected president, he will appoint a Supreme Court that rolls back gains in women’s
rights over the past 50 years.
“I respect Sen. Obama and I admire his success, and I conduct a respectful campaign,” McCain said Friday after touring a GM factory here. “That kind of statement or allegation is not worthy of Sen. Obama or worthy of the debate that the American people want and deserve.”
Reiterating his call for joint town-hall mettings, McCain also said: “If Sen. Obama wants to make a statement like that while we’re both on stage or before a group of Americans, then I will be glad to respond to him. I think my record speaks clearly for itself.”
The Hill, a Capitol Hill newspaper reported Thursday that Obama made the comment last week during a private meeting with members of the Congressional Black Caucus.
##
The Obama campaign was at first announcing it would hold Lincoln-Douglas debates with McCain (wonder where ditto got that idea?)…then it was town-hall meetings. Now the American people get one town-hall meeting on the 4th of July. Another is scheduled?
Can’t we watch him take questions without an Axelrod speech on a teleprompter? BO seems more like W. all of the time.
Chris Matthews felt the tingle for JFK when he was a teenager, but fell hard for Nixon. I suspect he has moved on to the Maverick McCain unless it is advantageous for GE to be in the Obama camp. Now that Obama is back peddling on nuclear power plants, GE may throw him under its bus.
Laney, me too, err in the State of Washington that is. And yep, mickey mouse about describes the set up. It was embarrassing. And I agree, rigged.
masslib: I have bought the book but haven’t started it yet. Plan on today or tomorrow.
Pat. it’s a page turner. I think you will like it. Easy reading.
Emma Thompson is the best! And Kathy Bates! Loved that movie.
masslib: Thursday, right?
Guys, I had some afternoon sangria, so I am a bit tipsy, but I just want to say….I love Bill, he’s so PUMA!
I think this 2008 Presidential Election will go down in history as an election that selected two of the weakest candidates in the history of both Parties. I liked McCain when he was Maverick McCain. I don’t know if that person is still inside him. My hope is that if McCain wins he will go back to his indie roots. He needs the conservative base right now. Obama? Please. One year of experience in the US Senate before he started to run? Almost one million dollars in donations to super delegate elections–that’s where he got that super delegate support- $$ and that’s why he had the DNC support from the get go.
Hillary was the best candidate of all three left standing. With Obama to the left of her and McCain to the right, she was very appealing to me, a moderate Democrat.
I am going to write her name in- in my state it is allowed.
I hope she runs again in 2012–the country will need her after four years of either Obama or McCain.
Aw shit.
If you want to fall in love with Bill and Hiilary all over again, watch “Primary Colors.”
I gotta go, I’m too fuck to drunk.

Hey Riverdaughter,
Is there any way we can get rid of the trolls such as pantsuit?
Rigging elections by both parties is the death of democracy and we as the good citizens of this nation will not let it go unchallenged.
Pantsuit,
You cannot not scare us with the equal pay bill. Our democracy is too important!!!! Equal pay will have no relevance or sustainability if our democracy is gone!!!!!
Its all smoke and mirrors that can vanish like a cheap migicians trick. Accountability is much more important that grabbing for a bone that they throw at you as a decoy. All goog fights require sacrafice!!!!!
pantsuit -
checked it out and some other sites as well…. I don’t agree with the blanket statement that he’s against equal pay for women based on one vote on legislation that some felt was poorly written… if we catch that logic train then how would you explain Obama’s change in position on FISA ?
I’m looking at a vote for mccain as short term pain for long term gain…IMHO Obama is far more dangerous.
At least can we get trolls with better names? “pansuit chic” is at the same quality level as “OMGHillary4Evah”
or “elderwomyn.” The troll named “Coleen” (the military mom who posted with one hand and folded socks with the other hand) was at least semi-believable for 30 seconds.
Don’t the obots have a better software program for generating handles?
Sheeesh
oh and my mantra
I.Will.Never.Ever.Vote.For.Obama.For.Any.Reason.
If a person commits time and energy to become part of a blog community whose mission she/he supports- no trolls- who are either paid to do this or have nothing better to do- are going to change anyone’s mind.
And their comments make them look like the troublemakers they are. Maybe, riverdaughter–you should create the “troll roll”–and move their comments to a separate link–so they can “see” their own words, just words.

Oh that’s too damned funny. Don’t think they’ll be in SBP dong a GOTV. First it’s so damned Republican but when the primary was held SBP went firmly for Hillary.
Thank you for the video and considering how hard the opposition tried, we still got a very, very good, fair message out there! Great job!
This lady and Harriet from no quarter should team up with a radio show….call ins aimed at informing the public of Obama’s non-electability.
I’m just about ready to make dinner for my brother and then take him back to his group home. He really wore me out today. At 51 years of age, he’s still full of energy. Then you put the cartons, soda bottles and cereal boxes in the recycle bins. No time wasted.
My brother is also a complusive speller. He sings old commericials too. I play him broadway show tunes and we sing along. He’s a lot of fun, but you have to keep your eyes on him at all times.

And yes, if you buy anything, you must put it away immediately and throw out the old. It took us forever to semi-break her of that little obsession. Her big obsession is laundry. Even think about wearing something and it must be washed.

Having dealt with aging, ailing parents who could no longer function like everyone else, I know that love goes a long way in providing the patience needed to care for them. I know your situation is different, but wanted to send my admiration to you. I truly believe we are blessed when we care for others—I guess that was one reason I used to be a Dem.
If there are any Confluence Hall monitors, please know that there is a cleanup needed on Aisle “About Us.”
I hate to be the curmudgeon at the party but all I could think about during the whole dismal “Unity” photo op was if he puts his hands on her one more time I hope she smacks him upside the head. (Actually I don’t mind being a curmudgeon because I am what I am.)
Damn it man, she’s a United States Senator and a former First Lady of the United States. She’s not your “sweetie” so show some respect and keep your hands to yourself. Damn, he’s got no more class than geedubya and his manhandling of Merkel.

It is always interesting when one of the trolls manages to wiggle through the filter. They make such little sense and bluster with such hostility.
I never know if they are the undergrads, the high school drop outs, or those spending time in prison who continue to “engage” us.
Whatever, they are all the same, lame idiots who apparently have nothing more to offer the world than this typical trash.
Someone needs to play the role of the young Woodward and Bernstein and make a few cold calls and write the definitive report on how the caucuses were gamed…or make a documentary!
These caucuses were what enabled Nancy P. and Dean to strong-arm the supers and to dupe the average American into thinking Obama “won.”
Obama’s lead in delegates represents 1.1 million voters in primary states versus Hillary’s lead in primary states that represent 34.5 million voters.
Cronin’s Caucus v. Primary report with numbers updated to today, showing how the caucuses, compared to primaries, have unfairly disenfranchised voters. (Background and original report here .) Some Findings: 35.6 million people have voted The 37 primary states account for 97% of the vote. The 13 caucus states account for 3% of the vote. Bottom line: Clinton’s lead is from 34.5 million voters (97%) in Primaries. Obama’s lead is from 1.1 million voters (3%) in caucuses.

re: voter irregularities
Several of you have spoken of intimidation and irregularities in caucus states. I may have mentioned some time back that some remarks were made by O supporters at the poll where I volunteered for Hill that “you can vote for your mom if she can’t vote” and other remarks that made me start questioning how much verification is needed when you vote.
In the past I was opposed to anything that suppressed voter registration and participation but have begun to wonder with registration links on websites, etc, how much verification is there? It appears anyone can go in and give a name and address. Am I wrong. It seems NC may be classified as a swing state so am even more interested in “getting the facts.” Have read some things on computer about O’s “community organizing” experience was actually with voter registration efforts so I am sure they know the system well.
Want to be informed and not form “uneducated” opinions. Thanks for any info
If we are going to call elections in other countries illegitimate, we have the responsibility passed to us from our ancestors to make sure our elections are fair and legitimate.
I am so proud to be part of a group so committed to righting the wrongs of this system
the first two pictures pantsuit put up are from the bus pick up…we were smart enough to actually drive and get parking at the location. the last is one of our pumas who had her many posters like the one she is holding taken from her. In case you didn’t notice she gets around with the aid of a walker, big threat, right? we are in nyc now, going to eat, then coming back to the hotel to post the real truth…..lots of videos, stories and pics for all…stay tuned.
masslib- I’ve ordered the book, but don’t knw that it will be here by the first club thread. But, I’m a fast reader and will be prepared for the second session. I’ve read a lot of Atwood’s books, but somehow missed this one. I’m really looking forward to it. Thanks!
CB,
Do you have a link to the report you cited.
Caucus clarification: here in Maine people can and do cast absentee ballots that are counted. In our town absentee ballots changed the division of our delegates.
I don’t know about the other caucus states, but we in Maine are pretty proud of our pro-vote policies.

CB, totally agree. We need to start going the way of cold calls, and it has to be to people at the state level because no one at the national level will talk. Also, we will have better luck getting through to people in the know at the state level. Does anyone have any experience with investigative reporting in terms of how we get started? Should we pick target states first, or do we go with states where PUMAs may have an easier in first?
I really think some sketchy stuff went down via the DNC and finding out before August could make a huge difference.

Murphy’s PUMAPac has all that and more. She has neighborhood flyer campaigns, everything.

Guys I need answers. My son has been stop lossed I think. We got the letter today in the mail. He was pissed after my divorce and joined the reserves. His 8 year contract was up on September 6, 2008. They just sent him a letter to be at Fort Jackson on August 1 and then to Bakersfield California to be deployed to Iraq. I am beside myself.
That’s actually more or less where I’m at these days. Except that the chances of me voting McCain are pretty slim – if he’s ahead or behind 10 points, it’s a freebie, but don’t see it happening. But for Obama to get my vote, I have to see significant improvement from him, without Hillary’s help, without reference to how awful McCain is – that is, I need to see a positive reason to vote for him – between now and November. FISA and his nutbar Social Security tax proposal are not such reasons. I am not optimistic.
Kim,
Was your son in Iraq already? Or is this the first time he’s been called up? I don’t know if there is any way to fight it. They have been doing this to people for years. They have even called up people who are well over 40 and haven’t been in training for ages. You must know some lawyers who could answer these questions. I would start asking around right away. You should also contact your congressman and Senators.
I’m so sorry to hear this, Kim.
Kim,
The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Try to think of extenuating circumstances. Does your son have any kind of disability? Or something that could be blown up into a disability?
No, no disability. Never beento Iraq. Been inactive for almost two years.
I became a citizen of the USA nineteen years ago. You will have to walk a long way to find someone who loves this country more than I do. I have voted Democrat in every election; for this 2008 election, I have been an avid supporter of the senator from Illinois from the beginning.
I beseech you folks to reconsider your position vis-a-vis senator Obama. After all, he and senator Clinton are not so very different. They both want change. They both reject another 4 years of Republican mismanagement. They both want to serve our country.
I do not ask you to forget. I do ask that you forgive. Nearly eighteen million supporters of senator Clinton made history in the primaries – won’t you join me on November 4th and make history again?
I can be reached at pjbacquie@yahoo.com (meaningful dialogue/insults equally accepted – it’s OK to vent).
oh Kim……..try to find a local anti-war group, they usually have contacts you can go to for advice. I know the local group here includes several attorneys who advise people along these lines. good luck, and I’m so sorry.
Kim, i just wrote back at the About Us thread. So sad to hear that. My prayers for you & your PUMA cub.
Kim,
The first thing I would do is talk to a lawyer who knows something about the military. Since you live in SC, I assume you are near a base. So ask around among your colleagues. Does your son know anyone else this has happened to? I wonder if anyone else in his unit has been called up recently. If so, they could network about how to fight it.
Kiki– where do you live? Would it be worthwhile for Kim to try to talk to one of the people in this local group and maybe get a referral?
Peter, my parents are also immigrants – they also became US Citizens and I congratulate for doing so.
But guess what? Too much damage has been done to forgive and forget. We will not support voter fraud and misogyny.
So thanks, but no thanks – and the best yu can do is not insist. Our minds are made up.
Phala,
Here’s the link to the study. This was from the first of June and Talk Left was trying to get the word out. Our “indolent” media did not pick up on it, being in the tank for BO.
Obama’s “win” didn’t represent a win in terms of voters. Gaming the small red state caucuses was part of the plan to gain momentum. Hillary’s camp felt that the caucuses were undemocratic (2% of eligible voters participate) and didn’t emphasize them. The Obama campaign games the caucuses big time.

http://www.talkleft.com/media/caucusjune2.pdf
Peter, when you say they are not so different, what do you mean?
one campaigned on issues and solutions, the other on slogans and sexism. that’s different.
if you mean on issues, I know where Hillary stands on those. she has been consistent. as for Obama, I don’t actually have the time to keep up with his changing stances from week to week.
Kim,
Iraq Veterans against the War says you can join if you have been in the reserves or national guard since 9/11. They would probably have a lot of information.

The front page blog right now is about a young man who is refusing to deploy to Iraq.

(Ok, silly time over)
Dear Peter from South Florida -
Can you get Barack Obama to change? I mean really really change? Things like changing his associates. And his attitude towards women and folks that are different from him. Oh, and while you are at it — you might get him to change that lying thing he does.
When you have accomplished that — get back to us!
Because its not about her —
ITS ABOUT HIM.
Kim,
Am copying response from prior thread
this link may explain to some degree
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2004-01-05-army-troops_x.htm
There was a recent movie about this (with Ryan Phillipe?)
To the best of my knowledge, it means that the military can say that you have to stay in even though your enlistment is over. Others probably have more exact info. I put it in the same category as calling up reserves who are no longer active.
Kim, as the mother of two sons, my heart breaks for you. This is another example of contracts with our government meaning nothing.
As a “military brat” the way Bush has treated the military has had me pulling my hair out for almost 8 years. I was vocal from the bginning wtih family and friends but kick myself for not being more actively involved.
My brother-in-law iand uncle are retired military officers. I will email them as to any options.
I’m in Alabama. actually, I was just going to suggest IVAW. my understanding is that they have a lot of resources.
Peter,
For heaven’s sake! Why would any of us want to “vent” to you? We already have this blog. If you love this country, you should want to prevent the election to the presidency of an unqualified candidate who is in the pockets of the nuclear and coal industries, the Wall Street investment firms, HMO and big Parma corporations. It isn’t too late to turn this around and nominate a qualified, experienced candidate who is actually a progressive on domestic issues and has foreign policy experience as well as experience dealing with military affairs.
Obama has zero relevant experience. He’s barely ever held a full-time job. And you think making him President shows love of country? This country is in serious straights right now. We need a strong, tough, knowledgeable President like Hillary Clinton, not a corrupt politician who lies constantly and cares about nothing but power and money.
CB, thanks. This was when my computer was “out of commission” and before I found you all.
Thought the premise behind caucuses was for party insiders to keep out the “uninformed masses.” Guess I was uninformed. ha
And Peter, be warned. We don’t tolerate trollishness here. We appreciate your courtesy, but we don’t want to be lectured and condescended to. It is clear from your comment that we know far more about Obama and about the issues than you do.
SM,
I don’t know what Obama said about the 27 words. Do you have a link or more info?

a lot of women in the media have been a disappointment this campaign. anybody listened to Stephanie Miller in CNN 5min ago? She agrees with Nancy that there was no sexism,,, how sickening these women will do anything to be part of the boys club anything! and then she says that there will be a woman president soon and gives McCaskil and Sebelius as examples, AH!!! AH let me laugh and cry at the same time
Phala,
I don’t think most people (and many of the people who are visiting this blog now) are aware of how Obama was thrown the election by virtue of the
primary states. Even if he continues to be pumped up by the media and hides
under a bus to avoid meeting John McCain at town hall, he has an uphill battle. The internet that was supposed to bring a grassroots progressive to the forefront is also a tool for exposing how phony the Chosen One is.
Peter,
If you are committed to getting a Democrat in the White House in 2008, I suggest you contact the DNC and let it be known that Hillary must be the nominee. I see a lot of differences between Hillary and Obama on the issues, I also see a huge character gap – she has a spine, he doesn’t, which leads him to flip and flop on major issues like public financing, FISA, health care, etc, the list goes on. But since you seem to think there is no difference, you shouldn’t mind at all if Hillary is the nominee instead of Obama.
I will not forgive, nor will I forget. It is not because I am angry or bitter, it is because I want what is best for the country…I want the Democrat Party to be held accountable for the disgusting way they have behaved during this primary. Staying silent in the face of sexism, pretending 2 whole states don’t exist, disenfranchising 2.3 million people, stealing votes from one candidate and handing them over to another. Is this a party I should respect? A party I should honor? If the candidate gave me even an iota of confidence that despite the horrendous tactics his campaign used, he would still usher in an age of progressive policy, I would forget the crap that went on and support him. But he has given me ZERO confidence that he will be a progressive President, ZERO. Throughout the primary campaign and particularly during the last two weeks he has shown me that he is eager to make his policies more and more like McCain’s. So why should I bother supporting him if all I will get is McCain-lite?
If Obama wins, he will have to do it without me.
KIm, sorry for your troubles. Contact your local congressperson if you feel you can trust them to intervene on your behalf, they can be pretty effective if it is a good office…when I was working in a Senator’s office, we were often contacted about such matters and always tried to be as helpful as we could. I would call and ask office what the best way to get in touch with them is – they may transfer you to the appropriate staffer right there or ask you to send a faxed letter/email. I would follow up any conversations you have with the staffer in writing via fax/email afterwards.
I don’t know much about other resources.
Kim – You and your son are in my prayers. I can’t imagine what you are going through. Thank goodness there are people here who have helpful suggestions.
The people at Confluence share the values that used to be the hallmark of a Democrat. I include the love of justice, the passion for truth, and a deep commitment to family/community among those values.
PUMA now and forever.
Dear Peter from FL
How does it feel to be 1/2 a voter? Think that’s all right?
As for making history, not interested. All I’m interested in is one vote for every one that votes and that all the votes be counted. Ah, counted honestly.
And it’s not about Senator Clinton anymore. At least not to me. It’s about the corruption of the Democratic Party that I’ve been a member of and supported for longer than you’ve been a citizen.
I’m happy now, just the way I am.
Pumas purring.
How is voting for Obama “making history”?
We’ve elected liars and crooks many times already.
Puma
arabella
ROFLMAO at that one!
Priceless!
Arabella, if Obama is elected, “history” will be made:
Second “selected but not elected” president!
Kim, if I am not mistaken your congressional delegation is pretty conservative. Is it crazy to think that contacting Hillary as one of her supporters looking for answers might be productive?
I know I think she can do anything, but I don’t know anyone more informed than she is.
Arabella,
Thank you for so eloquently putting this election into perspective.
Obama announced plans to go to Europe and the Middle East. His campaign cites two reasons for the trip:
1) To improve his foreign policy experience. They decided just living in Indonesia in elementary school might not be enough but this trip will put him over the top with voters.
2) He needs to get out of town while the getting is good because he’s having to answer to many questions and Clinton refuses to answer them for him.
Phala, it is VERY rare that another state’s senator would be able to do anything on your behalf. Most likely they will just refer you back to your own people. Contacting campaign’s can work, but since she isn’t campaigning anymore, it’s unlikely they will be able to do anything…that being said, it NEVER hurts to try and I am sure her office has been getting a lot more pleas for help from out of state folks since she is now a national figure.
pantsuit,
Get over yourself. No one here is claiming that all “former Hillary supporters” are PUMAs. If you have such a strong need to save people from themselves, try teaching Obama supporters about sexism and misogyny. No one is banning you, but if you use personal attacks like calling us insane and paranoid your rude comments will be deleted. If you don’t like it, lump it.
Thanks Gary and Mawm for everything. It is so different from “hearing” it on the news. The truth is so much better.
I’m going to ask my sister if she saw any protestors at Unity. Let’s see whether the kool aid has blinded her completely.
Just heard a commentator say there were “about 20 people who recently showed up at an event–evidence of a dead end movement.” referring to Hillary and blogs sprouting up all over (Screaming at TV. Have to stop channel surfing!!!)
The media said that the Titanic was unsinkable.
Stop. watching, televsion.

Maybe they want to tarnish Bill’s reputation abroad attempting to give Obama more ‘diplomatic and most loved president’ (hopeful) cred in hopes the press in the US will eat it up and he will look like the statesman he does not appear to be. These ’stories’ are a cheap way to sell papers replete with shocking comments, but secondly, they are probably calling in favours and the neo’s in Europe are playing. They’re rewriting history.
Here in Canada, most people LOVE the Clintons. We saw an advisor of Obama’s on CBC show an amazing amount of cultural ignorance in an interview where the reporters jaw was practically on the floor because of the Obama surrogate’s attitude.
People,
Thanks for sharing your stories and videos of the first PUMA protest. You are inspiring. There has been a bipartisan, hostile, takeover of the Dem party and our representatives have sold out. There is no way that Omessiah can win and the DNC doesn’t care about that. They are hell bent on delivering a product they were paid to deliver. In this case, a loser candidate and one that might go to prison before the election season is out.
You can lead a PUMA to dirty water, but you can’t make them drink it, Hillary. For your sake, ours and America’s we say…..
NOBAMA
Peter — shyeah, I’d like a Democrat in the WH this year too — but there ain’t one in the race anymore.
Laney,

and everyone else with caucus stories. Me too, in WA state. I though 2004 was bad — my 1st caucus. Saw my neighbor across the street sitting at a different precinct table. But the neighbor next door to her was at our precinct table. Nobody checked WTF you wrote down on their sign-in sheet. Chaotic.
2008 — Hugely overwhelmed space-wise. (Like they didn’t have a clue, come on!) Nobody checked anything. My name as Clinton delegate, and my husband’s as alternate, was left off the official list, I found out later. All the Obots were on the official list.
I met a party volunteer later on, who was doing some of the data entry. “”Do you verify addresses?” I asked. “No.” she said. Takes too long was the excuse.
One of my state legislative rep admitted to me that the precinct locations for some areas had been gerrymandered so they could get certain party officials at certain locations. She’s not a ‘bot, I think, but there is lots of potential for mucking about with results.
Caucus early, caucus often….
(crying…)
Thank you so much!
PUMA!
Yes, John McCain definitely makes more sense…think about it…he wants to perpetuate the war in Iraq and kill more Americans, give tax breaks to the wealthy, he voted against equal pay for women, he supports supreme court nominees who want to remove a woman’s right to choose, he is against healthcare for all, he supports harming the environment by drilling offshore. Oh, and best of all, he laughingly answered a question about Clinton where the questioner asked “How do we beat the bitch?”; he really appreciated that characterization. That is the man America needs!
aw, I didn’t mean to put a wink face up there. I actually DID tear up a bit.
I’m so thankful that people showed up to represent us all. Sooo thankful.
This whole unity sham is a nightmare…
Everyone should turn off the propaganda avenues: never watch CNN and MSNBC. Be suspicious of all media. LOL–sounds nutty, but you have to be careful what you decide to expose yourself to.
I did not watch any TV coverage of the Unity event…no thanks.
Block out the propaganda…the lying media and dubious polls…anyone who paid close attention to the primary season knows better.
Peter from FL …..
Give it a rest already. That oh-so-earnest supplication is a dead giveaway.
Yeah, BZero is gonna do his own version of Republican mismanagement.
That’s why I ain’t gonna vote for him: he ain’t no Dem.
Pumainseattle- Did you also find there were NO HIll voters? I’m in Bellingham, it was soooooooooooo sad, it was my mother and I, and a group of maybe 5 others for Hill, that was it. We signed this ridiculous sheets, there weren’t enough, so they had you fill it out on the backside, it was crazy. I could not figure out how they could call this a legal way of voting. I was appalled. And depressed.
Nice pix and video. Big shout out to all those brave souls who went to Shmoonity, NH. Here’s another video.
Mkay, so you delete the comments where I defend myself and “insult” you, but all the comments insulting me stand? Funny how that works.
As for gary, I like following directions, so when it says don’t park here, I took it to mean, don’t park here. The bus worked out quite fine. And that woman did not get her sign taken away. They made her fold down the NOBAMA part of it. I was standing right near her.

Jeez – the trolls are swarmin’ out today!
Gary & Mawn – thank you for the pictures. I’m really looking forward to your report later on.

Pantsuit Lady,
Are you the lady who was wearing the brown shirt with pink letters that said Hillary? I also had a Hillary shirt on. I was sitting against a fence facing the side of the stage with news reporters above me. Someone took a picture of my while I was holding a Hillary NoObana sign, was that you? If it was what did you do when we first made contact with each other before I posed for the picture? Thanks
Gary and John,
Great video and pictures. I had a great time! It was great meeting you and sharing such a great puma experience. Looking forward to seeing more pictures and blogs about Unity. Hope you finally got some rest and enjoyed your adventure in the city.

Amen! I’d like to know where Obama would be without Clinton and his progress in the 1990’s. How dare a “potential” Democratic nominee say the best President in the last couple of decades was Ronald Reagan. Are you kidding me!!! The same Reagan who sold arms with Iran, the same man who cut my student loans while in college, the same man who believed in voo-doo economics.
This is Obama’s ideal for president??? Genius, Democrat = HELL NO!!!
Are these all 20 year olds voting or what? NO one remembers how bad it was to get a job in the late 1980’s?
Obama is nothing but an EMPTY suit. He and his wife have no class. They have never once said they LOVE THIS COUNTRY. Ask yourself, shouldn’t the next president be able to say at least that???? No wonder people question if he truly is an American. He creates his own speculation about his patriotism. My dog even likes this country.
Obama has no substance. It is like listening to a thesaurus talking out loud. Where is the BEEF?
He will lead this country without a clue. Recall he said oops more than 6 times in the state senate. He had to say oops I pressed the wrong button when I voted. That on top of voting ONLY present more than 100 times.
Hey if you want to be president you better damn well be able to make a fricken decision pal. There is no oops or present votes in WDC.
This is the most orchestrated pile of crap I have seen in a long time. Howard Dean better take notice, this Democrat is never voting for Obama. Pack you bags folks, this is going to be a long trip before November. We’re in for a ride. PUMAS are damn well mad that Dean is trying to hijack the democratic party to become Marxist radicals.
For the history gurus out there, recall Hitler’s whole campaign was about CHANGE. So I ask, what change are we talking about. I choose to be center — not left off the edge of reason.
PUMAS united. Voting “write in” HIllary Clinton.

Annettoo, I was thinking that exact thing. The sheriff’s people likely wouldn’t have been so accomodating (or maybe just not so helpful in being accomodating) if not for the vibe they got from Obama’s people. I know officers, and I can imagine they took a little enjoyment in that.
Thank you so much for the posts and updates for those of us that could only be there in spirit! I’ve got my PUMA shirt on and I’ve got some stickers on order for myself and my friends.

the election is still 4 months away and we need to make sure we dont lose our enthusiasm. so many of the msm pundits keep saying that 53% of hillarys supporters have now gone over to obama. i sincerely hope this isnt true. anyone have any facts on this as we all know how the msm lies. we really need to get out in the public eye to let others know this isnt true. im sure fox (hannity and orielly would just LOVE to have as many of us on their show as possible, any ideas how to accomplish this?

You people are pitifully. If because of your actions we lose the Supreme Court to the right wing you will be remembered. The three most liberal members are the oldest. During a McCain presidency Roe v Wade would most likely be overturned. The women’s groups that were the most ardent supporters of Hillary will remember you. Some of you say you are in it for reform, a seat at the table. If you are successful, you will be remembered and any chance at useful reform or that seat at the table you can kiss good bye.
You can have a seat at the table and work for reform now if you want or you can continue on this infantile rant.
