Where’s the commitment to universal health care?

A remarkable thing just happened in the people’s party. Democrats have chosen a candidate, in the year 2008, who does not have a plan for universal health coverage. Barack Obama caresses the words “universal coverage” almost hourly, but his proposal offers nothing of the kind — unlike the plans of Hillary Clinton, John Edwards and other Democratic hopefuls.

Most striking, the man who showed such timidity on health care became the hero of ardent progressives. So forgiving was their love of Mr. Big that they virtually abandoned what should have been the Democrats’ most potent promise: medical coverage for all.

This is political opportunity lost. In a new CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll, 49 percent of registered voters list the economy as their No. 1 issue, with the Iraq war second at 19 percent. Health care comes in a close third at 14 percent.

It’s not just my blog that has had to turn the comments mod on because of trolls and stalkers. Uppity had to turn off her chat function because the TrollBots decided it was a good place to drop perverted and gross comments. MyDD has been invaded. Anglachel had to turn on comment mods. So did BlueLyon- though that’s because of my resident TrollBot stalker. The only reason they haven’t actually taken over at Shakes is cause Liss and the genuine non-trolly Obama supporters over there won’t tolerate it.

This is not the behavior of people who have won, is it? I have seen this kinda of thing before though, from exes who were very unhappy about being exes. Actually, I’ve seen this kind of thing from a vary particular ex who required both a restraining order (from a civil court) and a no contact order (from a criminal court) and actual jail time to stop fucking with me. This is the behavior of disappointed psychos.

In other words, LEAVE US ALONE. We don’t want you or your 0bambi!

We are PUMAs – we don’t want unity, we are actually assimilating with 4 more years of McCain, as 8 years of Bush have toughened our skin. But what we won’t do is have idiots who claim to be “Democrats” run our party into the ground as you have. Fine. Fall over the cliff. It’s not like we didn’t warn you.

We will either vote McCain, vote Green Party (Cynthia McKinney is black and female, so rock on girl!), stay home or write in Hillary’s name if our state allows it.

We will not vote for Obama.

Roe v Wade will remain intact. If Dubya didn’t get rid of it, nobody is going to get rid of it, so stop it.

The more you push, the more we resist.

However, I would encourage LeeAnne to keep an open mind, as there are arguments and circumstances that hae not yet presented themselves.

They come here on a mission to convert us and save our souls.

McCain was born in the Canal Zone, the child of two US citizens born abroad (like myself.)

My understanding was that the CZ was not a US territory, it was leased from Panama.

BTW – We helped create the Republic of Panama. Teddy Roosevelt encouraged that region of what was then Columbia to declare independence, and then we immediately “recognized” them as a nation and agreed to protect them (in exchange for a 99 year lease on the CZ.)

We just happened to have a few gunboats nearby at the time as well, allowing us to ensure their independence. (hence “gunboat diplomacy”)
