And I know she won’t do it but I’m beginning to believe that the only way a woman of Hillary’s caliber *can* win is by going outside of the party apparatus.
PUMA Power is already a huge fierce force to be reckoned with. There are thousands, MILLIONS, of us out here and we will be heard all over America.
I plan on being a huge part of the Michigan Chapter of PUMA. In this thread I hope we hear call outs from the other state chapters as we cheer and support Hillary today during her speech.

I’m with you. They have all the women who were traitors this season on, all bloviating about what Hillary should do. I’ve switched to C-SPAN.
That said, what PUMA power needs is a central point of connection, possibly a third party candidate to rally around. We need to be able to focus this outrage and energy, so that our power is felt come November.
I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if a true third party comes out of this.
I won’t watch the result of them pushing Hillary out when such a thing has never in history been done to men.
I will continue doing what I’m doing now, which is educating people about the thuggish behavior in the DNC and voting against it at every level of government.

I’m watching this on Fox and Cspan. Fox newscasters seem irritated that she’s not there on time, so they can follow their schedule. Susan Estrich making fun of the media – no big deal that they’re late, Bill Clinton always late, she says, gives the media time to repeat Peggy Noonan lines.

The only anti-Obama cartoon I saw was one showing him writing “potatoe” and press writer commenting ” oh, now how to spell it correctly.” There were others which showed Rev. Wright as an embarrassment to Obama.
This tells the media story more than any articles I have read on the subject.

I was out running errands and when I heard Hillary was arriving at the hall in DC, my car went right home so I could see her myself.

Well, it’s a given for me that BO will never get my vote, and I’m no longer a member of the Dem party, so the unity thing is lost on me. But what makes me sad right now is knowing that BO will never work for the issues that Clinton brought up. He doesn’t have to and no one is going to push him on anything — the big money media in the bag, the old boy party establishment behind him, the big donors in his pocket, the fans bowing before him.

I broke down and sobbed from the beginning of her speech. But when she said “The Democratic Party is a family,” I just couldn’t handle it. Is is really worth it to do this? She should run as an independent. She could actually win. The Democratic Party is just going to continue to tear her down no matter how humble and subservient she is. I hope this is just for show.

Well, I was not planning on watching because I knew the tears would come, but then I HAD to watch, and as expected, the tears came. I was getting dressed to go to a wedding while watching and the mascara smeared all over my face. It was a TREMENDOUS speech that was FOR HER SUPPORTERS, though she also did her duty for Obama. I cringed everytime she mentioned his name. I will NEVER support that man. What the hell has he ever done for anybody? A big fat nothing. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the part where she talked about 18 million cracks in the ceiling. She is the strongest person alive, a true warrior, and I hope to god she will be back in 2012.

I think one of the saddest things to come out of this primary mess is the blantantly untrue charge by many blacks that the Clintons played the race card. (Please note that I said “many”, not all blacks are for Obama; well 100% might be now that he’s the nominee.) Not only did it hurt her campaign, it could hurt her political career in the Senate and her home state. African American pundits and politicians are already trying to walk back the Clinton’s are racist memes now but its too little too late. They knew they were just doing it for political advantage but they unleashed something in the African American community that they may not be able to control. If you listed to callers to Black radio, the meme that Hillary would like to “get rid of” Obama has taken hold among many. It won’t be easy to walk that back.
Regarding the Dem Party as family:
I had a feeling she would take that line. What follows is completely inappropriate speculation, but I will indulge anyway. From what I have read, apparently HRC was reared in a household where the father was disrespectful of the mother, but the mother was always about keeping the family together–recall HRC has spoken about how her mother was abandoned in her youth. HRC, herself, did not leave her marriage despite WJC’s infidelities. If she considers the Democratic Party her family, it is no surprise at all that she made the speech she made today. Someone should send her the statistics on all the women and girls who die at the hands of their husbands, lovers, brothers, and fathers–because either they do not or or not able to leave their families.

Hello all. Hillary did what she absolutely needed to do. No one can now blame Hillary when Obama loses the GE (even though I am sure they might try). Hillary knows her supporters – she did this for her own future and that is fine. The Democratic Party is going to learn a huge lesson now. Maybe we can take back the Dem Party and then take back the country. The world will not come to an end if McCain is president. He is moderate and a Dem Congress can keep things in balance (if they do their job), and the future will be bright with Hillary as president presiding over the REAL Democratic Party.

I watched Hillary’s speech. She was courageous and full of grace. Re-read the transcript twice, and got choked up. I would not vote for Obama, nor McCain. Any comment about supporting Cynthia McKinney, a potential Green Party presidential nominee? I started to find a way to use my vote meaningfully.
