An Ad Opportunity from WomenCount PAC

See this link from Taylor Marsh’s site for an opportunity to get the message out that women’s voices will be heard this primary season. The PAC is planning to run the ad several major newspapers this weekend. Here’s the ad:

Hillary in the rain

Not So Fast…
Hillary’s Voice is OUR Voice,
And She’s Speaking for All of Us

We are the women of this nation. We are rich and poor, young and old, married with kids, married without kids, single moms, gay, straight, and widowed. We are every color. We are of every religion. We are from all political parties.

We love our country. Now more than ever, so much of what we cherish is at risk – our homes and our health, our safety and our planet, our children and our values. We raise our voices, in one glorious, defiant chorus, to tell the world that these times demand strength, courage and vision.

And that is why we stand united in our unwavering support for Hillary Clinton.

As Senator Clinton campaigns, she speaks with our voice. She carries our hopes, dreams and aspirations with her and transforms them into policies that can make our nation great again.

We know that Hillary will not rest until every American has health insurance, every child can start school ready to learn, every young person has a chance to attend college, every worker will have a safe job at decent wages. She will not rest until our men and women in the military receive the care they deserve and America foreign policy is grounded in human rights and military strength.

We know this because we have seen her do this — at home and around the world.

We cannot stand by as a cacophony of voices demand that she step aside to smooth the road for another.

Women risked all they held dear to make this country great. They put their lives on the line in all our quests for justice – from Abigail Adams to Sojourner Truth to Susan B. Anthony to Eleanor Roosevelt to Fannie Lou Hamer to Barbara Jordan to Dolores Huerta to Hillary herself.

We know that when women vote, Democrats win. Now it is the responsibility of our party to hear our voices and count all our votes.

We want Hillary to stay in this race until every vote is cast, every vote is counted, and we are convinced our voices are heard.

WE SUPPORT HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT

Here’s a link to the rest of the details.
This may be the only way we get past the media filter. At least the DNC and the others will know that we are not going quietly and we *will* make trouble for them in the fall. It’s worth a try.

  1. Brilliant. The strong women come forward!

  2. Speaking of the media filter, what did The Left Coaster do to eRiposte? I’ve seen questions in the comments about the disappearance, but nobody ever answers. Digby’s blog seems to have gone over to the dark side too. Two more to delete from my favorites list?

  3. BB: I don’t know. But if eRiposte is looking for a place to blog… ;-)

  4. ooo! Wouldn’t that be cool!

Too sad, though. Even thinking about it.

  5. I’m madder than I’ve ever been tonight, and yet I’m calm, very calm. What I am feeling is a cold, hard, steely determination. The media and the DNC will not force this unqualified, corrupt, unelectable candidate on me. To (ironically) quote Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction, “I will not be ignored!”

  6. In WV, only 1/3 of Clinton voters say they would vote for Obama. Nice.

  7. Did Obama, our supposed Democratic nominee win yet? Our nominees are supposed to be winning contests, right?

  8. I heard CNN just called it. :)

  9. oh .. this is rich – from the BO camp “Debunking Five Myths About Obama’s Support”

    http://time-blog.com/real_clear_politics/2008/05/obama_memo_sets_wv_expectation.html

  10. Fergawdsake!

Are we gonna have an open thread for our WV haka or what?

I read that the media has decided to destroy our victory but we’re not gonna let ‘em.

  11. Jeralyn says she’ll win 2 to 1. On Fox news they are talking about what Hillary should do when she goes back to the Senate. Or she should be VP. No way in hell!

  12. I’m getting my check in the mail in the morning for the ad.

  13. By the exit poll numbers, it looks like she won it by at least 35.

  14. MABlue,
I think this is way beyond HAKA. It’s way, way, waaaaaaaaaay beyond that. Obama is supposedly the nominee already and he’s losing by 2 to 1. This is a repudiation of the MSM, the Blogger Boiz, the DNC, Dean/Brazile/Pelosi/Kennedy/Kerry/Richardson/etc. A massive, massive repudiation.

  15. MABlue, your wish is my command!

  16. gq, Yes, it’s a repudiation, but it certainly looks like they are all going to keep ignoring us.

  17. Hey, she already has the CNN checkmark. Holla!

  18. Yea!

  19. I love his “myths”.

He’s winning among working class voters.
    He’s winning among whites.
    He’s winning among everyone.

We just don’t know it. So just ignore us.

Did you know? No Democratic candidate has won women by so large a margin since exit polling was first conducted in 1976.

BTW just who IS voting for Clinton, if everyone is voting for Obama?

  20. Call me a sentimentalist, but hey, I create more estrogen than testosterone (or however you spell it):

    I LOVE THAT HILLLARY PICTURE!

She is our Eva Peron and WE are the “descamisados.”

(And yeah, I’m on my second wine glass celebrating!)

  21. Hi all—a really good feminist read that belongs here tonight, re: Hillary and the media and, well. you’ll see. Tis fab. As in nails truths…like RD does! Yay West Virginia…

  23. [...] An Ad Opportunity from WomenCount PAC Posted on May 13, 2008 by riverdaughter [...]

  24. Forgot to add that I sent in a check for the ad this afternoon. Susie Buell of Esprit fame (formerly married to the founder of North Face) is a big deal in Bay Area liberal politics. She is a numero uno Hillary supporter. Goes to all of the states and campaigns in person, plus she has a foundation that supports women candidates). Also, one of the people behind the ad is my local Clinton delegate. Lorraine H. has raised a million for Hillary (or so I’ve heard).

I went to the equivalent of the Jefferson-Jackson dinner in Silicon Valley a few weeks ago, invited by a friend who is in the State Legislator. There was an Obama table there (we went for Hillary). The party stalwarts–the movers and shakers in the Democratic Party– that I saw there were solidly behind Clinton. Many are women who have devoted their entire lives to working for the Democratic Party (and their husbands are on board as well).

    http://www.susietompkinsbuell.org/

    Go Hillary!

  25. I am adamantly pro-choice & pro-woman. My daughters are being raised in a feminist household that values the transformational possibilities of women’s voices and actions. I simply can not accept that Hillary Clinton speaks for me or my daughters. Her values and visions of feminism seem dormant. Her politics increasingly align her with the neo-con Margaret Thatcher. I would no sooner vote for either of those women than John McCain. Once she voted to bomb men, women, and children in Iraq she lost my respect and any chance to have my trust. Please keep in mind that feminism must be more than biological loyalty, it has to be backed by trans-formational politics and commitments. Standing opposed to war and in support of anti-racism are feminist politics and practices. Something we would all do well to remember.

  26. Right on to the Not so fast… ad. Might we please
suggest that males get out of the way this time
so that a smart, strong, effective female can lead
this mess of a nation that’s been dominated for far
too long by males and those who wouldn’t know
a feminist idea if it jumped up and shook their
    hands?

I’m supporting Hillary Clinton for president and
it’s about time we all accepted strong female
leadership. We need less warmongering and
may that start with Hillary’s administration.

  27. Fantastic Ad

I absolutely love it and hope it works

I am fed up with the fact that Fl & MI are being pushed aside.

The media and press should be ashamed of the way they have been so bias in this American Voting process.

We know Hillary will do as she says as she will not be up against a fight as she was while trying to work on the health care system as she was the first time
    Hillary

We know Hillary is for the people, we know her.

I will not vote for someone that has been given a “free ride” in the press, media or by all his surragates threaths. I DO NOT know Obama, he doesnt answer the questions…….WHY DOES HE SPIN HIS WORDS?

  28. hello everyone,

I am new to this blogg. I seen someone on the fox news talking about your ad and thought it was wonderful

For quite sometime, I have picked up many things about Obama as I felt uneasy about him. So I researched them. I have sent vides & files to foxnews. I wil not watch any other media to listen to the “NUTS” that feel their is only one candidate. One that is not betted nor will be.

First of all I have many many things to say.

The biggest is the fact that murder plots, gay lovers, money laundering and drugs are mentioned.

There is an investigation that is being held at this time that indicates the direct connection of Obama, rev wright and Axelrod in the murder of three gay members of the United Trinity Church that Obama had daffairs and drugs with. These three mend were killed prior to Obama announcing he was running because they knew too much

This has been mention very little in the National Enquirery.
Next week there will ba a story in the Globe. These stories are true. The media, All of them have not picked up on these stories nor will they.

many of us have sent emails to the Senators and Congressional members and it’s hasnt been mention.

I think they just want to rush this nomination through. This is I believe the surprise in Oct you keep hearing about may be this

If you want to hear more, I will be happy to tell you, or for some of this, please go to larrysinclaire0926.wordpress.com Larry’s site has been up since Jan and he is the gay man that the Obama people are trying to find now. He has gotten many threats.

This is the truth……..and we will make sure people hear the story before the next president is elected.

    Thank you for reading this

  29. mntruthseeker,
Your link does not work for me.

I heard on Fox there are rumors of new videos on MIchelle Obama. You need to provide some fact behind the statements you make.

  30. The DNC will not spoon feed me Obama, I will vote for McCain not because Obama is black. But, because he has no accomplishments of note. none, nothing, zip, and zero. Who is he, what has he done. And he wants to be the next leader of the free world. And our president. It had better be Hillary vs McCain or the DNC can go to hell along with the lose of the white house. And supreme court judges Roe v. Wade. We wouldn’t be blackmailed.

  31. Thanks for posting this! We just elected Allida Black as one of our Clinton delegates from the 8th Congressional district. She has been a supporter of Hillary’s for over 30 years, and was instrumental in this new PAC.

  32. The DNC is in charge, they are the bosses not, you the voter. So, the DNC will ignore white, blue collar workers, just as they have always done. and lose the white house. The DNC will ignore the women’s vote, their strongest voting block., and lose. The DNC will ignore the seniors, their most dependable voters. and lose. The DNC believes the threat of losing. the white house, they can force Obama on us. We will not be BLACKMAILED. 4 years of McCain is better then the dictatorship of the stinking DNC. They need to taught a lesson, once and for all.

  33. It’s BLACKMAIL. BLACKMAIL, BLACKMAIL. The DNC believes that the Threat of losing the white house and the chance to appoint maybe three (3) people to the supreme court, they can force Obama on us. The DNC elitist want Obama, whom they will control. Voters be damned. And example of the elitist control of the DNC is Kennedy and Kerry. Massachusetts lost to Hillary by 15 Points 15 points. Did the elitist Kennedy and Kerry listen to the people of their own state. NO. Who do they still indorse. Obama. 4 years of McCain is far betTer then, being controled by the elitist DNC. They need to be taught a lesson they will never forget. If Obama is nominated, we will vote for McCain.

  34. The DNC and the elitist are force feeding us, swill, garbage. The DNC and the elitist say Obama will show us the leadership the democratic party needs. Is this a joke. LEADERSHIP. Obama is a junior U.S. senator, who has not even completed one term in the senate. What has he done. NOTHING.

  35. 4 years of McCain. Or Obama and the dictatorship of the DNC. I will take McCain.

  36. McCain….
And I have never voted Republican.

In thinking about this, I will vote McCain and Democrats. This way, McCain will have to get along with the Democratic Congress.

I have profound respect for McCain. Obama disgusts me. Hillary is such a fighter, I adore her.

I am FURIOUS they are trying to act like this is over.

  37. “At least the DNC and the others will know that we are not going quietly and we *will* make trouble for them in the fall.”

That sentence truly scares me, as do the many posts indicating how many people say that they’d vote McCain over Obama. Anyone who truly supports what Hillary stands for will NEVER vote for John McCain. He has a ZERO PERCENT rating from NARAL for six years running, and will appoint judges who will overturn Roe v. Wade!

DON’T CUT OFF YOUR NOSE TO SPITE YOUR FACE!!!

  38. Wouldn’t the money have been better spent on “real” women’s issues, like single-parent housing, job assistance, and children’s healthcare? Hilary does not speak for me and quite frankly she’s a wrinkled old bag out of touch with mainstream women’s issues. I’m voting for McCain, like all intelligent women should.

  39. Look, I understand you like the idea of a woman president. I’ve got nothing against that idea, but in this particular case she has lost. If you want to wait till June 3rd, and if you want to seat Florida and Michigan (even though doing that would be unfair for a number of obvious reasons) Obama is still going to win in all likelihood. But if that’s what you guys want, then fine, let’s do it. But when he finally wins by your standard, you should be good Democrats and not sore losers. You should support the nominee. If Hillary wins, I’ll support her. I should hope you have the same kind of team spirit, and will support Obama if he wins.

  40. I have the outmost respect for Mrs. Clinton. And I can understand the sexism toward her run for the Presidency. But let’s be real her ladies, both were running for the highest office and both had that mark against them. Mrs. Clinton with the sexism, and Mr. Obama with racism. Most people want tosay that all black american was voting for him because he is afro-american. What took place this over the weekend in Portland, Oregon was a message to those who think negative. I could probably count how many afro-american I seen there. So Mr. Obama is something special and this is the first time in a long time that no only the people of the United States wants something different, the whole world is watching. People we are here for a short period of time, and while we are here we want to live ok. No WAR, No Proverty, nothing. And also what made me and Billions of other people see is that this was something new and special. We gave Bush’s and Clinton’s 20 years. Time for something New! New Direction!

    Question for Clinton Supports:
If a person can not manage there house, would you let them manage your house?
$20 Million dollar debt which is let me know that the people you have around you is not a good team. And things you’ve done in the past will always come back to haunt you. The media don’t have nothing really to say about Mr. Obama, so if you don’t have nothing to to complain about, my suggestion is to just Try Him!

Also “WomenCount” which I believe to be a good organization don’t speak for all woman.

    IT IS WHAT IT IS!

  41. I am a 43 year old white female registered Democrat. I support Hillary Clinton and the rights of the citizens of Florida and Michigan to make their votes count and their voices heard. I am ashamed of the way the DNC has treated Senator Clinton in this election. I am supporter of Senator Clinton not because she is a woman but because of her lifelong devotion to the Democratic party and her fight for making this great country a better place for all citizens. I still do not believe this race is over until all votes are counted. I have been contemplating my allegiance to the Democratic Party in the event that Hillary does not win the nomination. I just cannot bring myself to vote for Senator Obama because I not only find his lack of experience his biggest detriment; I also find his arrogance appalling. I still can’t figure out how he is going to “change” the way Washington works. He appears to be more celebrity than politician and his rhetoric carries no substance. His mass following, in my opinion, is due to the mass amounts of money he has to reach more people. His campaign is so staged it’s more like a Broadway production than a forum to discuss his views. Yes, more young people are now voting but do they really have the wisdom to dictate how change is really going to happen in Washington. I think not. For these reasons, if Obama does become the nominee I will neither vote for him nor McCain but rather for the Libertarian party. The way the DNC has handled this election it is beginning to look more and more like the Republican party.

  42. Mrs. Irene,

What experience do either one of the candidates have? Senator’s don’t run anything. They just make dumb decisions. And when you say that his arragance is appalling are you just upset that he don’t get upset like you think he should be. The man has class, and they threw everything at him and he just brushed it off.

If you are a democrate and you don’t like what’s going on with the country, then you need to stick with your party and help make United States Strong. Right now we are a weak country that other countries are just laughing at us. We had a total of 8 years of HELL!

  43. If any of you saw the sketch on Jay Leno last night with a talking face of Hillary attached to a large, buxomed women in a very very revealing dress – maybe you will do what I did.

I sent an email to NBC announcing my disgust for such sexist, discriminatory behavior toward Senator Clinton, and that I would be contacting the advertisers of tonight’s show to let them know I won’t be purchasing any of their products between now and the November election in protest to their supporting such sexist, rude, discriminatory acts by NBC/Jay Leno staff. And that after tonight, I will no longer watch The Tonight Show.

Here’s the list of advertisers I will be contacting: Mazda, Direct TV, Dyson vaccuum cleaner, Benadryl, Kellogg’s, Tempurpedic.com, Crest toothpaste, Blackberry, Mercedes Benz, Ace Hardware, Dockers, and Taco Cabana. Maybe some of you would like to consider doing the same – letting the media shows know we have had enough and aren’t going to take it anymore.

Women purchase the majorities of products in this country. Why not hit them where it counts – in their pocket books?

  44. I’ll be going to the polls in November.
I’ll vote for my local/state democrats.
I’ll vote for Hillary – either on the printed ballot or I will write in her name.

As long as democrats end up with control of the House and Senate, who care if McCain ends up in the White House? What hard could he do – democrats will still have the votes to over ride his vetoes AND it would be a loud statement to the DNC that it has taken the female vote for granted way, way to long and we are a major political force to be reckoned with.

  45. I am in and want to know how to give money to WomanCount soon so that more can be done with advertising before the 31st of May when the DNC meets.

    Great AD

  46. Digg – visit http://www.womencountpac.com

you can donate hear and view the print version of the ad

we all need to contribute towards this PAC

“Keep the lights on. Mama’s comin’ home late.”
    Hillary ‘08

  47. You do not speak for all women – not by a long shot. To imply that you do speaks volumes about you.

There are many many women who do not support the candidacy of Hillary Clinton for very valid reasons.

A little respect for those voices would be welcome.

  48. I forgot to add that I am a very proud supporter of Senator Barack Obama – like just about every other woman I know. We have been from the start and we always will be.

  49. Liz — sweetie?

How about clicking on the link at the bottom of the page? You can start your own blog and give voice to all those sad female Obama supporters crying for respect.

Confluence? I don’t think it’s such a good fit for you.

  50. Destroy the DNC, then you will get change.

  51. DNC, be afraid – be very afraid. You have pissed off @ 18 million voters because of your treatment towards Hillary. We will never forget that. Your boy Obama can not win without us. He will NEVER have us. We WILL elect John Mccain if Hillary doesn’t run as an Independent.

On the news tonight they said that for every one of Hillarys supporters that votes for Mccain, Obama loses two votes. So in a way they have pissed off about 36 million of us. I like that ! : )

Hillary, run as an Independent. Don’t take Obamas offer for VP, because I for one would never vote for any ticket that had Obamas name on it.

Rise Hillary Rise…. Hillary Clinton or John Mccain 08

  52. Please continue on to Denver Hillary! One of the news anchors said that Obama could ask another woman to be on the ticket and that would bring back the women voters. Oh, please don’t make me that small!! THERE’S NO SUBSTITUTE FOR HILLARY!

    CONTINUE ON HILLARY!
